Let's Eat Review: "Prego Trattoria"

Novotel Bangkok Impact Hotel is designed to accommodate the exhibition activities, including oversea concerts. The hotel is opposite to the Impact Exhibition Center. It offers both restaurant and bar services. " The Square" restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It serves as all day dining, delivering international food, both buffet and a la carte menus. And they also offer a modest bar, called "94 Bar" serving soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, and snack bar for customers to enjoy.

In addition to the introductory, the Novotel Bangkok Impact Hotel also situated Prego Trattoria, a delightful Italian restaurant. Chef Chin and his teams have beautifully fusion each menus to meet Thai taste. So I'm sure it will be just your taste. However, the restaurant is not located inside the hotel main building, if you were walking from the Lobby, you have to go pass 94 Bar, get to the behind building. When you enter the building again, the restaurant will be on your right hand side, it is on the parking building and also the connected corridor between the Hotel and the Exhibition Center.

Prego Trattoria opens two sessions per day. Lunch time opens from 11: 30-14: 30. and dinner time from 7: 00-22: 30 with 65 available seats .The restaurant has a variety choice of wine and beverages, including soft drink, mocktail, cocktail, wine, and coffee. Each table will also provide Prego wine (the same name as the restaurant's) from Italy, as well as seasoning like olive oil, salt and pepper. In addition, the restaurant is an opened kitchen style where we can clearly see the cleanliness, the ingredients the chef choosing for each menu. It is different than the closed kitchen where we won't be able to see what the food is made of or whether the food is clean or not.

To start with the restaurant Complimentary Menu, it is the garlic pizza bread, black olive bread (the white one), basil leaves bread (the green one), and dried tomatoes bread (the red one), serving with fresh salsa. The garlic pizza bread smells really good, it's like we are eating garlic bread in a form of pizza crust.

Pumpkin Potage (219 THB), it is the smooth drinking pumpkin soup. The soup is made from Japanese pumpkins baked with spices and then fried them until having pleasant smell before pouring in the vegetable soup and seasoning with salt, pepper and cream before finally spinning them. And at the bottom of the soup, there will be tortellini pastas with ricotta cheese.

Next is Seared Marinated Beef & Bean Salad (239 THB). The tenderloin salad is diced into pieces, tender and soft in every bite, not a bit sticky. It is serving with several types of beans, nicely mixed with sesame mayonnaise dressing. I have to say that if you are a Japanese sesame salad dressing lover, you will definitely love it!

Pork Chop (499 THB) is served with grilled mushrooms, grilled artichoke, dried tomatoes, york potatoes along with souffle baked Parmesan cheese pudding. The pork shop is served in 250 g. The chef will cook the meat until it ripens to a certain level before baking it again, so the meat is very juicy and soft, and the grilled vegetable is also in a right roasted level. In a combination of gravy sauce, it's just so good.

Mushroom Ravioli (449 THB), this is another main course. It is made from ravioli pasta filled with mushrooms, or if you prefer, it is called mushrooms filled dumpling in Chinese way. It serves with steamed duck in red wine sauce in which the duck has been steamed for over 3 hours before baking one more time and seasoning with garlic, rosemary and black pepper. The mushrooms filled ravioli pasta comes in quite large pieces and its sauce is similar to gravy sauce, a bit salty and consists of mushrooms, cheese, and baby spinach.

Baked Snow Fish (889 THB), the snow fish comes in 200 g, cooked before baked again and seasoning with gridded olive. It is serving with corn salsa, baby carrots, asparagus, dried tomatoes, buttered potatoes, and grilled vegetables. In addition, it also serves with lemon butter dressing. This is a truly light and healthy menu, the fish is light, the dressing is light, and it is just delicious!

Smoked Salmon Pizza (489 THB), the basis is margarita pizza, baked until well-cooked and topped with smoked salmon, ricotta cheese, and sprinkling with caper, olive oil and lettuce. And the pizza crust is very thin, the smell is really good, just splendid!

Finally, it is Warm Chocolate Soufflé (339 THB). Chocolate Souffle is serving with vanilla ice cream and fruit salads using green apple, kiwi, mango, and papaya. The menu is almost a perfect one except that the souffle is too liquid, if it can be more set, it will be much better. I talked to Chef Chin, he said due to they just change the size of the cup, so his assistance has yet perfect calculating baking time.

For the beverages, I didn't try any alcoholic drinks due to I come here for lunch and still need to drive afterwards. So I have fruit juices instead, coconut shake is served in a whole coconut shell with some of its meat blended inside (165 THB), fresh orange juice (180 THB),and lychee shake (155 THB).

Overall, every menu is very tasty and beautifully decorated. As for the price, I think it's reasonable since it is a hotel price and I used to go to other Italian restaurant in town, the price is somewhat similar or even more expensive. In addition, the place and atmosphere is great and very relaxing, it is definitely worth a visit!
