Kanchanaburi is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand which famous for its numbers of abundant natural attractions.

However, there is a new tourist spot that you may have never heard of.

Today, I will take all of you to turn back the time for about 100 years ago in order to experience the local life and culture of people in the past.

We will learn the true heritage of our own nation at Malika R.E.124.

Malika R.E.124 is the one and only cultural tourist attraction in Thailand and in the world.

You will feel as if you were back in the history during the end of King Chulalongkorn's reign.

Firstly, you need to get changed into the costume that truly worn during that time. You can rent a costume, jewelry, umbrella, and locker here. You need to deposit your ID card in order to rent these stuffs and you will get your card back when you return all items. There are 4 main costume sets as follows.

  • Jewelry set from King Chulalongkorn's reign 300 THB
  • Women's costume 200 THB
  • Men's costume 100 THB
  • Children's costume 50 THB

You can pick the costume in your favorite colors but it is a good idea to study how to mix and match the top and the bottom in advance, as they are not paired up for you.

You need to exchange your money into the ancient currency before getting into the town because you won't be able to use the current currency inside.

Exchange rate is 5 THB equal a quarter.

Moreover, a rickshaw is available for elderly people as well as children who can't walk much. It is 50 THB per trip.

There are so many beautiful corners for a photo shot in Mallika R.E.124 such as the charming Thai houses, the nicely green rice field, and so on.

You can walk in and experience everything in every single house including a bakery shop.

You can make white rice the old way, make a Thai hand garland, bake a pastry, etc. without any extra charges.

You can even get a massage after a long walk.

Last but not least, dinner set will be served here in this pavilion together with a wonderful performance in the evening. The dinner set is including Massaman Curry, Kaeng Buan, Yum Yai, Crispy Rice Noodle, and Namprik Kheekha.
