[Review] The seasons change at Kawaguchiko Lake!!! Going by bus and stay in the capsule hotel...

Autumn in Japan is arriving in November of every year. There are many places that you can enjoy the wonderful moment and Kawaguchiko Lake is one of those places. It is one of the places that you should not miss during this period, "Fujisan in Autumn".

This is a budget trip so we take the Highway Bus and live with 7/11 food. Make your life easy and let's the journey starting>>>

From Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko Station

At Shinjuku Station, we get off the station and heading to the South Gate. We will see Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal building in front of us.

Then go the 4th floor; the entrance of Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal

This is a bus terminal centre that we can find many buses to go to many different destinations. Our destination today is Kawaguchiko Station. We can check the timetable, available seat and platform number on the screen.

Then go buy the ticket from the machine or counter. However, we recommend you to book the ticket in advance so you do not have to wait. We book the ticket through https://www.highwaybus.com for 1,750 JPY/round/person.

Only a few counters open in an early morning.

We have booked the ticket in advance and print it out. What we have to do is just check the bus schedule and find the platform. And here we are "Platform No. B5"

10 Minutes before departure, bus is arriving and bus hostess will arranges all bags and checks the ticket before get one the bus.

Wow!!! we are the first one^^.

We can choose aisle or window seat when we book the ticket online. And of cause we choose to sit at the window seat so that we can see a nice view along the road.

At that moment, we just sleep and wake up again when we see Mount. Fuji in front of us....\^^/

It takes us about 1.45hrs. to arrive at Kawaguchiko Station.

It is really on time.

It is such a great day, nice weather and blue sky...

Fujisan and the train

From Kawaguchiko Station to Kawaguchiko Lake is about 800 metres.

There is a bicycle rental and bag keeping service shop right in front of the station.

(Bicycle rental is 1,000JPY/Day)

All around Kawaguchiko Lake

We take a sightseeing bus which we can buy the ticket at Kawaguchiko Station. It is a ticket for 2 days and we can get on and off at any station both green and red line. The ticket is 1,300 JPY. For more information you can have a look at

The Sightseeing Bus will start from Kawaguchiko Station (NO. 1) and follow the timetable. We do not want to wait so we start to walk to the lake along with leaves colour change on both side of the road...It is such a wonderful moment.

After 800 metres walk, we have arrive at Kawaguchiko Lave (No. 10)

Walking around the lake to Oike Park (No.7)

Our hotel is located in front of Oike Park.

Then take the bus to Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center (No.22) which the last stop. There is also Oishi Park where you can walk around and take photos.

There is a pathway around the lake so we can stop by at any point. We can see Mount. Fuji from here clearly.

The unique of manhole cover

At bus stop No. 19... Maple Corridor where many tourists are coming.

There are many shops for food and souvenirs by local people.

The red leaves are on both side of the road.

If you would like to try something new, there are many thing here for you to try. But the price is also quite high as well.

For me, 7/11 is enough and save cost... of cause!!!

@ Capsule inn Fujisan

For the hotel, we still keep our concept, so we stay in a Capsule Hotel which is Capsule Inn Fujisan. It is located at bus stop No. 7. We can see Mount. Fuji right in front of the hotel. The check in time is 4.00pm. and they will not accept early check in or any baggage keeping service. However, we can keep our bag at the next hotel, they charge for 200 JPY so that we can go out for a while and come back to check-in later.

Time to check-in, the hotel area looks like ordinary hotel in Japan. There are lockers, vending machine and living area for relaxing.

We have booked a capsule type for about 2,000 JPY. After check-in, we will get a card number for our capsule and find our capsule in the zone.

Feeling so considerate when we actually have to stay in the capsule with other people around you....

The capsule size is a suitable size, it is clean and warm.

So do not worry about the size and cleanliness...

There are bathroom and restroom but they do not provide bath amenities. If you needed, they have for sale.

Most of the time here is very quiet and around 4.00pm. - 5.00pm. already get dark. There is nothing to do in the evening as outside is very cold at night and all the shops are closed. So the thing that we can do is just SLEEP!!!

Good morning, let's get the last ride on the sightseeing bus before going back.

Just show the ticket and get on the bus come back to Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.

2 Days and 1 night, we have enough time to discover Kawaguchiko Lake.

Easy and cheap!!!

Total Expenses Kawaguchiko Lake 2 days 1 night

  • Highway Bus (round trip) Shinjuku – Kawaguchiko = 1,750 x 2 = 3,500 JPY
  • Sightseeing Bus (2 days) = 1,300 JPY
  • Capsule inn Fujisan ~ 2,000 JPY
  • Food = 7/11 is the best choice

We are so lucky that we have had such a nice weather on both days so that we can see Mount. Fuji clearly and the colourful of leaves colour change.

Enjoy the peaceful moment in the season change at Kawaguchiko Lake...

See you again FUJISAN....^^
