Nakhon Phanom is a province in the northeast of Thailand, straddling the Mekong river and neighboring Laos. It's a beautiful, serene destination that not many tourists visit. I think that is a shame because in my recent visit, I loved it there. Maybe when you see these photos, so will you.

The Mighty Mekong

The main city of Nakhon Phanom is built next to the Mekong river. With the view and tranquility of the river in the backdrop, who wouldn't be mesmerized?

The Food

Nakhon Phanom is home to amazing food. There is influence from several countries, especially Vietnam. You'll find some great Vietnamese food.

The best is to try some of the dishes at villages and small shops. I tried stuff that I never have before and they were all so delicious!

Have you ever tried this sweet and spicy Som Tam Melon? It was divine.
