This weekend, if you're still looking for a getaway, I recommend a horseback riding trip to Pak Chong to escape the winter chill. It's a perfect day trip or an overnight stay to fill your lungs with fresh air. The farm I'd like to recommend is "Farm Mor Por," which offers a variety of activities, including horseback riding, animal feeding, and egg collecting. And if you're looking for an overnight stay, I recommend Mira Sierra, with its Spanish-style horse stables.
I set off at 9:30 am and it took me about 3 hours to reach Dr. Por's farm, which is located in the Mu Si area of Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima province.
Originally, Dr. Por's farm was a closed farm, a private residence. Then Dr. Por's friends came to visit, bringing their children and grandchildren to ride horses here. However, out of consideration for their friends, they gave money to help with the cost of food for the horses. Then Dr. Por's friends suggested that he turn the farm into a fully open farm. Dr. Por saw that when children came to visit here, they would have fun and enjoyment. Dr. Por therefore wanted everyone who visited here to gain knowledge and happiness to take home with them as well.
Associate Professor Dr. Nopadol Srobl, or Dr. Por, said that his family is a family that loves horses and everyone rides horses. Dr. Por himself has loved riding horses since he was a child. Dr. Por dreamed that when he had the potential, he would like to raise one or two horses. From the first two horses, which were Thai horses, he started ordering horses from abroad. He started searching for information on the internet and saw beautiful horses, so he kept ordering more horses. From originally having only one breed of horse, now there are 11 breeds, totaling more than 80 horses.
Dr. Por provides information about the types of horses, which are divided into 3 categories: cold-blooded horses, hot-blooded horses, and warm-blooded horses.
Cold-blooded horses are easily identified by their long manes, long body hair, feathered legs, large bodies, short stature, and docile nature. They are mostly used for plowing fields. Warm-blooded horses are a cross between cold-blooded and hot-blooded horses to develop a breed of horses suitable for use. Used for sports, such as racehorses.
Let me tell you that each horse on Dr. Por's farm is not ordinary like the breeds that are commonly seen. But the horses here are world-class premium breeds. 5 out of 10 breeds on Dr. Por's farm are Andalusia from Spain, Friesian from Holland, Arabien and Rocky Mountain from the United States, and Gypsy Vanner from England. It is a horse breed that ranks among the most beautiful horses in the world, which is rare in Thailand.
Andalusian horses are one of the five most beautiful horse breeds in the world, and they are found at Mor Por Farm. This breed is known as the "Horse of Kings" and was used in the filming of The Lord of the Rings and Robin Hood.
Every horse has a name. Usually, horses imported from foreign countries already have their names. However, if the horse is born in Thailand, the fog will give it a new name. For example, this one is called Pope. It is a hot-blooded horse of the Arabian breed, which is another one of the most beautiful breeds in the world. This breed of horse is known for being fast, fierce, and aggressive. But from what I've experienced with Pope, I think it's very friendly. Even when it was standing eating grass in the middle of the pen, I went to take a picture of Pope standing next to its pen, and it walked over to me in a very cute and endearing way.
In addition to having the most beautiful horse breeds in the world, Mor Por Farm also has 3 of the largest horse breeds in the world: Shire, Clydesdale, and Belgians.
The black horse with a white face in the back is a Shire breed from England. The brown horse with a white face is a Clydesdale, which is the largest breed in the world.
This is the Belgian breed, another of the largest breeds in the world. It is a Belgian horse. The height may not be as high as the first two breeds, but this breed is stronger. In the past, this breed of horse was used for plowing.
And that's not all. This place also has Miniature horses, which are the smallest horse breed in the world.
The horses here are incredibly tame. I think Dr. Por and the caregivers must have showered each horse with love, which is why they seem so friendly towards everyone. Whenever I stand by the stable to take photos, the horses would walk up to me and let me stroke their heads without any hesitation.
Besides horses, there are many other animals on Dr. Por's farm, such as laying hens, miniature pigs, goats, sheep, calves, ducks, and geese. You can say that it's a complete farm. Now that you know a lot about horses, let's take a look at the activities you can do on Dr. Por's farm.
Let's start by collecting chicken eggs in the coop.
This farm houses over 400 free-range chickens, providing high-quality, nutritious eggs. When I first walked in, I expected the chickens to scatter in fear. However, to my surprise, they approached me instead.
I guess you could call it a chicken condo. The chickens are laying eggs without being disturbed by people.
The next activity is feeding the Teacup Piglets. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the mother pig. Take a look at her udder. It seems like she's been through a lot of battles, as her midsection sags down to the ground. If you can't resist the cuteness of the piglets, you can pick them up for a photo op.
Another fun activity with a touch of chaos is feeding the baby goats. I say chaos because while one goat is feeding, the others who aren't getting milk will try to steal it from the one who is, creating a cacophony of bleats in the pen.
There are calves too.
The horses are being fed.
Or if anyone wants to bathe the horse, they can.
In addition, there is an activity of riding a tractor to see the vegetable garden.
This field will be a field for horses to exercise. On the day I went, there were many different breeds of horses running around showing off.
And what you shouldn't miss is the horseback riding activity on the grassland outside the farm. The reason why you shouldn't miss it is because it's not easy to have the opportunity to ride a horse that costs more than half a million baht. Normally, a horse that costs 600,000-700,000 baht, the owner will not let anyone ride it easily. But at Dr. Por's farm, you can.
For those who are interested in going to Fin in the Farm, you can go to the Farm Mor Por. The entrance fee is 80 baht per person. For various activities, you can inquire about the price of the activity at the farm.
After a fun-filled day, it's time to head to our accommodation. Tonight, I'm staying at Mirasierra Khao Yai.
The vast 70-acre territory amidst the grasslands left me in awe.
Mirasierra Khao Yai recreates the Andalusia region of southern Spain in the heart of Khao Yai. The architecture is inspired by the Hacienda style, a southern Spanish architectural tradition, boasting elegance and subtle Moroccan influences. This architectural style is rarely seen in tourist destinations or resorts in Thailand.
Upon entering the door, you will be greeted by a simple lobby.
After checking in, you will receive the key to your room.
The keychains here look pretty cool, even though they're a bit big and heavy. But they definitely add to the equestrian atmosphere for guests.
Mirasierra is a Spanish word that means "mountain view." Originally, it was a stable and clubhouse with a few rooms for overnight stays during horseback riding. However, as the number of rooms became insufficient, the number of stables was reduced from 12 to 6. The remaining 6 stables were converted into 9 guest rooms, designed to resemble a Spanish stable. Therefore, the entire atmosphere is Spanish.
From the Lobby, as you walk to your room, you will pass all 6 horse stables.
The walls of the room are decorated with horse stable equipment. The rooms here are named after Spanish cities. Tonight I am staying in the MALAGA room, which is a Deluxe room. There are a total of 7 Deluxe rooms.
The interior design of each room is unique and stylish, with a minimalist aesthetic. However, the curtains in my room were quite thin, allowing people outside to see in easily. This lack of privacy was a bit of a concern.
The bathroom is vibrantly colored. The wet and dry areas are clearly separated. The toilet has a bidet spray. The shower is a rain shower and there is also a small hand shower.
Let's take a look at another type of room, the Suite, of which there is only one available.
The living space is very spacious. There is a sofa at the end of the bed that can be converted into a bed.
The bathroom is similar to the Deluxe room, with a clear separation between the wet and dry areas.
Another type of room is the Grand Suite, which is the only one available. This room can accommodate a family. I didn't take any pictures of this room because it was occupied by a guest.
Now that we've explored the room, let's take a look around Mirasierra.
Mirasierra entrance area
The first checkpoint when we step into the Mirasierra area is the Lobby. The side of the Lobby is an area for guests to relax.
I hadn't walked far when an uninvited guest came to say hello. Lightning struck near Mirasierra, making me jump. The rain poured down relentlessly. Actually, there was supposed to be a Spanish horse show before dusk. The horses were even ready to perform, but when the rain came, everything had to be canceled. What a shame!
Tonight I'm having a Steak Dinner. This menu is lamb.
There is also salmon.
To finish off with some kind of bread, but it was delicious. The big piece you see here was divided into 3 smaller pieces, and I finished all 3 pieces.
Let's take a walk and soak up the atmosphere a little longer before going to bed.
Good morning, the morning mist has come to greet you.
I went out for a bike ride to find some photo spots around Mirasierra. I could really feel how fresh the air was here.
After that, I walked up to the tower and looked down to see the mist swirling around Mirasierra.
Looking out the other side, the soft light is coming to greet you.
The side of Mirasierra is adjacent to the Chokchai Farm area, where the mist is now descending and clinging to the grass, making it look fresh and beautiful.
The soft morning light greets the dining room.
Inside the restaurant, those who don't want to be in the morning sun can come and eat inside.
But if anyone wants to get vitamin D like me, come to this corner.
The breakfast menu will be a la carte, with the main dishes recommended by Mirasierra being 3 dishes: Baked Eggs With Chorizo, Tortilla, which will be Spanish-style food. But if anyone doesn't want to try Spanish food, there is also ABF.
Let's take a look at the breakfast menu.
This menu item is Baked Eggs with Chorizo, which is Spanish sausage with tomato sauce, similar to Spanish eggs in a pan. Served with a vegetable salad.
ABF looks delicious.
For me, I chose the Tortilla menu, which is similar to our Thai omelet. But the difference is that it will add diced potatoes and add cheese. The taste is soft and creamy. It is also served with a salad.
Topped with hot cocoa and served with a large slice of bread.
Breakfast might be a bit small for someone who has a heavy breakfast like me, but the overall taste of the food is okay. It's a good change of pace for me. This is my first time trying Spanish food after breakfast. I still have a little time left to walk around Mirasierra and find some photo spots.
The exterior of the reception area
Back to the Lobby area again. On the side of the Lobby, you can see a staircase that leads up to the tower.
The architecture has a Moroccan architectural influence.
A wide-angle view of the horse stables and accommodation area.
Restaurant area.
Leaning out from the balcony on the 2nd floor, I came across this corner. I can see two guest seating areas.
The first corner is for sitting and reading books.
A little further up, there is also an area for guests to sit and watch TV. There is also a fireplace nearby.
The intricate patterns on the tiles and the exquisite bathroom fixtures in the room near the stairs leading up to the tower are so beautiful that I almost hesitate to use them.
The small decorations give the surrounding area a stable-like atmosphere.
Horse lovers, this is the place for you! You're sure to fall head over heels in love with it.
In the morning, there is also horse bathing.
Or if you want to go horseback riding, you can do that too. An interesting activity if you come to Mirasierra is to take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the resort.
It's a completely different experience from riding a horse-drawn carriage in Lampang.
After a carriage ride, we took a break to listen to beautiful music from the manager of Mirasierra. I must say that the music was excellent, and we enjoyed it very much.
And the last activity before heading back, we had the opportunity to make Churros, or Spanish donuts. Churros are a national dish of Spain, with a crispy outside and a soft inside. You can eat them plain, or roll them in cinnamon powder and eat them with ice cream. Freshly fried, they are delicious!
For those who love horseback riding, enjoy a farm-like atmosphere, or want to find a cool corner to take pictures to show off to their friends, you will definitely be impressed by this place.
