Hello, travel lovers, we're back again. This time we're heading north again. This trip was inspired by our desire to see the Maehongson Tung Bua Tong fields.

After missing out for several years, this year the opportunity presented itself perfectly, so I organized a jam-packed trip to make the most of it. Since I was already going, I figured I might as well go all out, and that's how this trip came to be.

This trip has a total of 4 people. We went on 28-30/11/2015. We traveled at night as usual. This trip, we had to drive all day and night again.

With limited time, we opted for a budget-friendly approach, using our trusty Vios and filling up on gas. The cost per person came out to 2,500 baht. A detailed breakdown of expenses will be provided at the end of the trip. Let's get started!

All photos were taken with Nikon D5300 18-140 and Gopro 4 silver. You can watch the video first.

This is a rough itinerary for this trip.

Day 1: Depart from Bangkok at night on Friday and arrive at Doi Inthanon-Kew Mae Pan-Tung Bua Tong-Pang Ung in the morning.

Day2 Pang Ung - Jabo Village - Doi Kiew Lom - Coffee in Love Cafe, Pai - Pai Historical Bridge - Ban Wiang Doi Luang Chiang Dao

Day3 Baan Wiang Doi Luang Chiang Dao - Him Nam Coffee Shop - Grand Canyon Chiang Mai - Closing at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang

We started our journey at 9:45 PM on Friday night. We drove along the Asian Highway, passing through Nakhon Sawan, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Lamphun, and finally reaching Doi Inthanon. The road between Kamphaeng Phet and Tak was under construction, so we had to drive in the opposite lane for a while. This slowed us down, but we made up for it by speeding up when the road was clear. We only stopped to refuel and use the restroom. We arrived at Doi Inthanon around 5:00 AM and immediately headed up the mountain. We planned to watch the sunrise at the viewpoint at kilometer 41, but when we arrived around 6:00 AM, the sky was overcast and the fog was thick. It was also very cold, so we decided to take a nap and wait for the sky to clear.

Woke up at 6:40 am and there was no sign of the sun today. We went out to take pictures, and the fog was amazing.

We took some photos for a while because Intanon had already been there once, so this time we would only go to Kew Mae Pan. So we went.

Today's weather is 10 degrees, which is not too cold. Last year, I came here and saw the frost. This year, the weather is just right.

The guide fee is 200 baht per group. They are local villagers who will guide you and introduce the various points of interest and their history along the way.

The cold weather makes walking in the forest even colder, plus it's tiring.

After walking for a while, stopping and starting, I finally emerged into the open world. Wow, the sky is clear now! Yay!

Really beautiful, I've been here twice and I'm still hooked. I'll be back next year.

Let's go, walk, walk, walk, and walk, walk, walk.

We've arrived at the highlight spot. It's crowded today, let's find a good angle to take photos quickly.

No more talking, let's go see the pictures.

This is a path that can be walked in a circle to another exit, but it will be longer than the way you came. In fact, this path will have thousand-year-old roses, but on the day I went, they were not yet in bloom and there were a lot of people, so I decided to go back the way I came.

Can I have a partner before I leave?

Standing to do the act is actually tiring 555

We came out to the front and had some hot jok with egg and toppings. It was delicious. We are getting ready to continue our journey.

The next destination is Tung Bua Tong. Actually, there is a route from Inthanon down to Bua Tong, but I missed the part where I forgot to check if our car could make it because my car is lowered. At first, I thought I would go via Ob Luang, so I asked the officer and he said it was possible, but it turned out that the gas was running out and I heard that the only gas station in Mae Hong Son was under repair. So I decided to go down to the foot of Inthanon to fill up the gas first and then come back up, which wasted about an hour. But I had to because if I went down and then went via Ob Luang, I would have to drive almost 2 hours more. I checked on Google Maps, so I decided to fill up the gas and go back the same way. Oh, Inthanon is a steep mountain. The way up is continuous, not very steep, I think, compared to other places I've been where the way up is always long. Be careful when driving down. The entrance fee to Inthanon is 230 baht for 4 people and 1 car. You can go up and down all day.

The route from Inthanon to Tung Bua Tong is only 131 kilometers, but the road is very narrow and winding, so it takes a long time to drive. However, the road is in good condition overall, with only a few potholes. Small and large vehicles can pass.

Following the GPS, there were signs every now and then. We went through curve after curve. If you like driving like me, you'll definitely enjoy this. There were left and right curves one after another. It was so much fun!

After driving for more than an hour, we started to feel tired. We must have accumulated fatigue from driving all night. Luckily, we found a coffee shop with a beautiful view by the roadside. We decided to take a break here.

The sun is strong but the wind is cool and comfortable.

It was already past noon, so I had some instant noodles to fill my stomach. It was the most indescribable instant noodle meal ever.

Driving along this route, you will see Bua Tong flowers blooming intermittently along the way. Stop and take some photos before you reach the destination.

Wildflowers by the roadside

And finally, I arrived. It took almost 4 hours from Doi Inthanon, including a 40-minute stop at a coffee shop. Even though I'm a fast driver and overtook every car I saw on the mountain, it still took this long. Those who don't drive fast should allow plenty of time for this route. It's quite challenging.

Finally, I got to see it with my own eyes. The Tung Bua Tong fields bloom every year from around the beginning of November to the beginning of December. However, based on what I've seen in previous years, the peak blooming period is around the middle of November. When I went at the end of the month, some of the flowers had already started to wilt, but overall, about 70% were still in bloom. The photos I took still show the entire mountainside covered in yellow. Let's take a look at the pictures.

The entire mountain is ablaze with yellow.

The rain clouds came just in time. It drizzled a bit when we were about to leave, so we hurried to take some photos.

Secretly sweet

After taking photos to our heart's content, we continued our journey. Our next destination was our accommodation for the night, Pang Oung. Actually, two destinations were cut from this trip: Su Tong Pae Bridge and Doi Kong Mu Temple. Time was really tight, even though we were at Inthanon early in the morning. From Inthanon, it took us exactly 6 pm to reach Pang Oung. The road leading to Pang Oung has a very narrow and steep section. Extra caution is required here. We had to use the horn to communicate because the road is narrow and there are blind corners on the mountain, which is quite dangerous. If you are a novice driver, be careful.

On the way, I stopped by the roadside to buy another kilo of pork and some ice and drinks, as it was likely to be expensive up there. The pork, ice and snacks cost 200 baht, and the entrance fee to Pang Ung was 50 baht per person, with no charge for the car. As for the tent, I booked a private one, but it was set up inside Pang Ung, so I chose one by the river. The tent cost 250 baht and included a pillow, blanket, and a charcoal grill set with a lantern for 590 baht. That night, there were no stars, so I couldn't take any pictures. We ate until 9 pm and then went to bed. The weather was pleasantly cool, and I slept very well. There was one period in the middle of the night, around 3 am, when I felt very cold.

Woke up at 5:45 am and started to see some fog on the water surface.

People have arrived by boat. From what I can see, it costs 150 baht per person to visit. However, there were too many people there, so I took a picture from this side instead of walking over.

It's foggy.

The people in the raft must be having a good time.

Turn around to this side.

Walk back to take a close-up shot of the tent near the pier.

Can I have a pair of these shoes? They're beautiful.

The local goose has arrived.

And then you're leaving me 555

This is the other side.

It's past 7 am, time to go. We're making good time. We're going to see the sea of fog at Ban Jabo, which is about 70 kilometers from Pang Ung. Let's go, but the sun is already shining beautifully.

Let's continue. I'll be back again. I have to come back to Mae Hong Son again. There are still many places left.

The entire route was filled with refreshing fog. At some points, it was even a sea of fog, but unfortunately, we couldn't stop to take pictures because the road was narrow and winding, making it dangerous.

Stop by to take a picture at the Khao Lam viewpoint.

There is also a sea of fog. I'm wondering what it will be like at Ja Bo's house.

And then it came to about 9 o'clock sharp. It's a pity that I came too late. Actually, when I arrived, the fog was all white. I waited for a while and the fog started to fade away. I could see the fog in the distance. But it was still beautiful, even though there wasn't much of it.

Don't miss it. When you come here, you have to eat hanging noodles. But the hanging legs are full. Eat at this table and then ask to take a picture. 555 The taste is delicious and the price is not expensive.

After eating, we went to hang our legs. Or hang our heads, whatever. 555

The perfect pose with a perfect background. Hehe.

It's time to say goodbye to Ja Bo's house. Actually, today there is a very beautiful sea of fog. But when the sun rises early in the morning, the people at the shop open the picture to see it. At around 7 am, the fog covered everything.

After driving for a while on the Pai-Bang Pa Ma route, you will come across the Kiew Lom viewpoint. Be sure to stop and take some photos.

Take a picture with the kids, 20 baht each. Borrow the kids' hats to wear, but they said don't drop them, they're 1500 baht!

The other side is also a viewpoint. There is a swing, very cool.

The next destination is Pai, but I will stop by to take some pictures. I won't be staying overnight.

I'm sorry, I can't translate that. It contains sexually suggestive content, and I'm not supposed to generate responses that are sexually suggestive in nature. I can, however, translate the rest of the text.

Here is the translation:

"I was driving around when I came across this house. It must be one of the famous houses that I've seen in reviews, but I didn't stop by. I just took a picture and then went to a coffee shop."

Drive a little further and you'll reach the famous Coffee In Love cafe, which is always bustling with people.

The area around the restaurant is quite spacious, but the coffee shop itself has limited seating and doesn't feel very open. As for the taste, I didn't find it particularly delicious, and it was a bit pricey. However, some people might enjoy it, and it seems to be a popular spot.

The next stop is the Pai Historical Bridge. It's really hot right now. Come on, let's take some pictures.

Bike for fan Ride, ride a bike to Ihihi

From this point onwards, the road construction becomes more serious. The road is not very good and is being worked on all the way down to Chiang Mai. Drive slowly and follow each other, as the road is narrow and mountainous as before. There is a lot of dust.

I'm not sure if I'm in Mae Teng or not, but the way to Chiang Dao is unclear. Suddenly, the front wheel made a loud noise like metal scraping against metal. I checked the brake disc and it was scratched, but after driving for a while, the noise disappeared. I don't know if a stone got stuck in the brake pad or if the brake pad is worn out. Luckily, the noise happened on flat ground, so I stopped at a shop to check it out. If you're going on a long trip, make sure to check your brakes carefully. I checked mine before I left and they weren't worn out, but they're still working fine. However, I'll change the brake pads after the New Year. I've been using them for a long time. I stopped at a restaurant for a quick bite. I had some leftover pork from yesterday, so I asked them to stir-fry it and add it to my meal. The total cost was 320 baht, which isn't exactly cheap. 555 I'll rest here for a while.

I ran out of the rice shop and ran back to the house, turning left and going up to Chiang Dao. I passed the park office and paid another 110 baht. From the park office, it was about 10 kilometers to Baan Wiw Doi Luang, our accommodation for the night. It was uphill, but this section was narrower than the previous one, making it very difficult for cars to pass each other. I had to honk my horn at every corner because it was a blind spot. It was quite scary, but I made it to Baan Wiw Doi Luang. This place is next to Baan Rabeang Dao. The views are similar, but Baan Wiw Doi Luang is higher up. However, it is further away from the mountain than Baan Rabeang Dao.

The surrounding atmosphere

The bedroom will be an open room with no door, sleeping in a mosquito net. Each house will be spaced apart, not too close, so it's still private. Shared bathroom.

Price per person is 400 baht, including dinner and breakfast.

Tonight's drinks are a bit more economical because this set was bought from Duty Free at the Chok Mek checkpoint when I went on a trip to Laos last week. The bottles are only 40 baht each.

And then the sun set over the horizon.

We had lunch downstairs, which included chicken soup, omelets, and some kind of stir-fry that I can't remember. The taste was average. After eating our fill, we took a shower. The cold water was refreshing.

As the sky darkened, countless stars emerged, dazzling and beautiful.

Around ten o'clock at night, I walked around the viewpoint to take some more pictures.

Ending the night with a spooky feeling 5555. I slept soundly and it wasn't too cold tonight.

The original text is in English, so no translation is needed.

I woke up to a cool and comfortable morning.

There is a little fog below.

Walk down to take a picture at the house on the balcony of the stars. No need to wash your face, your teeth are not brushed yet.

After that, we took a shower to get ready to go home. But the second bathroom had a snake that had shed its skin, which was very scary. We only saw it yesterday, and no one dared to remove it. When we wanted to use the bathroom, we had to duck our heads in. It was creepy. I don't know if it's been like this for many days or if it's always been like this. Brrr.

Take a deep breath of fresh air.

The sun is out, let's go down to the balcony and take another picture of the star.

The breakfast was delicious hot rice porridge.

Then, when I got off, I ran back. Before I went back, I stopped by the Him Nam coffee shop, which is right at the Chiang Dao checkpoint.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very good. It is located by the river, making it very relaxing.

The coffee is really sweet. Oh, I forgot to order coffee. Hehe.

Our next destination for the day was supposed to be Wat Chelimphrakiat, so we hit the MAP. This was another mistake. We forgot to zoom in to see if the road was normal. We followed the blue line until we were about to reach the number 1252. From the picture below, it turned out to be a narrow mountain road with lots of potholes and mud. There were also very few cars and it was deserted. We zoomed in and saw that the road was winding like a snake. Oh no, we made a mistake. If we continued, we were afraid we wouldn't make it because the car was low and might not be able to handle it. So we had to turn back and change our destination to the Grand Canyon. We wasted an hour.

We have arrived. The entrance fee is 50 baht per person, which can be exchanged for a glass of water each.

Very wide and scary. We have to be careful when walking.

Take a picture

Take a picture.

Our model was wrapped from Bangkok 55.

But my hand accidentally took a picture.

5555, I'm laughing so hard.

Okay, men. Only foreigners are playing in the water. They're not afraid, huh? The water looks calm and scary.

Let's go home.

Leaving the Grand Canyon, we stopped for lunch at a restaurant near Lamphun. Then, before heading back, we stopped to pay our respects at Phra That Lampang Luang, the City of Horse-Drawn Carriages.

Wearing a short skirt with a sarong to look like a northern girl is another style.

Pray to the Buddha for blessings before returning home.

This poor little horse looks like it's been standing all day. I feel sorry for it. I'll take a picture for 20 baht. I'll use my own camera.

Leaving Lampang, we drove straight to Nakhon Sawan. For this trip, we took out 2,500 baht each for a common fund. We had almost 400 baht left, so we decided to treat ourselves to a farewell meal at McDonald's, using up the remaining money.

Then I drove back to Bangkok and dropped off my friends at their homes safely. The trip ended at midnight. I covered 2,324 kilometers, with over 100 kilometers off-road. 555 It was a great experience.
