Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel, "Wife Finds, Husband Uses." Today, I'm taking you to review a burger joint near my house that many people have reviewed as having good taste and service. The restaurant is Chris Steaks & Burgers on Phra Thep Cut New Road. From now on, I'll just call it Chris Burgers for short.

Date of consumption: Sunday, March 27, 2016

Approximate time: 12.00-13.00 hrs.

Number of people: 2 people

Chris Burger is located on Phra Thep Cut Mai Road, near Ratchaphruek Road, where The Circle and J Arena are located. Getting there is easy. Just open Google Maps and type in "Chris Burger (Chaodoi)". You'll find it for sure. When you arrive at your destination, look for a large, 3-story commercial building with a large sign that says "Speed Moto Max Cannondale Bicycle Dealer" or "Chaodoi Coffee Shop". You'll definitely see it, it's not hard to find. ^^

The Chis burgers restaurant is located in the same building as the Chao doi coffee shop and the Speed Moto Max bicycle shop. As far as I know, all three shops are owned by the same person.

The Chris Burgers and Chaw Doi restaurants are located together in a single corner room with only one floor. The maximum capacity is around 50 people. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has glass windows and air conditioning, while the outdoor area is open-air with a roof. There are a total of 8 tables, 4 indoor and 4 outdoor.

For the outdoor area, I think the atmosphere and decoration are quite good. The walls are decorated with beautiful patterns, there are small waterfalls, trees, and several large Marvel character statues such as Ironman, Spiderman, and Hulk.

Judging from the venue setup, I expect there will be live music in the evening, and the atmosphere should be nice. The street in this area is not very busy with traffic or people.

For this meal, my wife and I chose to eat outdoors. The menu we chose for today is as follows:

- Mountain-raised beef steak, 109 baht

- Black Doi Burger with Beef, 189 Baht

- Garlic bread 30 baht

- Fried shallots 59 baht

The menu that the staff brought me had the cover page written as Chao Doi Steaks & Burgers. There was a wide variety of menus to choose from, including pork, chicken, beef, fish steaks, burgers, rice, sandwiches, and various snacks. I understand that after this, people will probably know the name of this restaurant as Chao Doi (ชาวดอย) more than anything else. This is because both the shop sign and the menu have the word "ชาวดอย" prominently displayed, so much so that you can hardly find the words "Chris burgers" at all.

The menu I photographed for you is not complete. There are many more pages and many more interesting menus.

The restaurant has a separate drinks menu with two pages. The first page is for coffee and soft drinks, while the second page is for bubble tea. My wife and I chose the following:

  • Blue Sea Trust

- Pink lemonade

After waiting for a while, the staff brought water to the table. The staff asked me to pay for the water first, which was 80 baht. This created two small confusions for me.

1. Why do we have to pay for water separately and in advance, even though the shop uses the same space?

2. The price of the water on the bill that the staff brought was not the same as the menu. The Blue Sicthus water on the menu was 45 baht per glass, but the bill only charged 40 baht per glass.

As for the taste of the two glasses of water, it is as follows:

  • Blue Sic Truss is delicious. It's sweet, fizzy, and slightly sour, like a blue Hawaiian with a squeeze of lemon.

- Pink lemonade is just red soda with lemon and soda, the usual taste you find in most shops.

The first dish to arrive was the fried shallots, which came in a portion of 5 pieces with dipping sauce. The pieces were not very large, so considering the price of 59 baht per plate, I felt it was a bit expensive.

In terms of taste, the fried onions are not served in large rings with thin, crispy batter like I've had at Pizza Hut or Pizza Company. The fried onions at this restaurant have a rather thick batter, so when you eat them, you don't really taste the onion. You'll mostly taste the soft dough. The dipping sauce they provide is delicious, though.

The next menu is garlic bread, which is also served with 5 pieces and chili sauce. The presentation is as beautiful as the previous dishes. The taste is average, not too good or bad. But compared to the price of 30 baht/plate, this dish is considered acceptable to good.

Moving on to the "Steak Chaw Doi", the portion size is quite generous. The meat itself is not too tough, and has a decent level of tenderness. Considering the price, it's a good value and definitely passes the test.

The plate comes with french fries and a small cup of salad. I quite like the taste of the french fries. They are thick, large pieces and not oily.

And now we've come to the last menu, which is a menu that I really want to eat. With the menu "Burger Chaw Doi Beef"

The size of the burger I received was quite large, but it was a bit smaller than I expected. I had seen pictures in other people's reviews before, and I had imagined it would be bigger. T_T

You can compare the height with the Danbo doll. The plate also comes with french fries, just like the steak. It also comes with sauce.

From what I can tell from dissecting this black burger, it contains fried onions, bacon, cheese, ground beef, and vegetables. As for eating it, I personally can open my mouth wide enough to bite into all the layers in one go.

In terms of taste, it was delicious. Both the bread and the ground meat were perfect, especially the ground meat, which had just the right amount of sweetness and tenderness. I was very impressed with this dish. Personally, I prefer the taste of this black burger over the beef burger from Mother Trucker Burger.

For those who think the size of this black burger is still too small and are afraid they won't be full, you can order a black burger tower. You will get an additional 1 piece of meat and an additional 70 baht, from 189 baht to 259 baht.

Alright, it's time to check out. The total bill for this meal is 467 baht, broken down as follows:

- Water fee 80 baht

- Food cost 387 baht

Now let's take a look at the summary of information in each topic. What do I think?

Taste of food: Overall, the taste of the main dishes, such as steak and black beef burger, is good. The black beef burger is especially delicious, living up to its reputation. However, the other snacks, such as fried onions and garlic bread, are not as impressive.

Food Variety: There is a good variety of food, including rice, steak, burgers, sandwiches, and snacks. You can choose from chicken, pork, fish, and beef. If you like this type of food, there are many options to choose from.

Shop cleanliness: Clean, looks good and beautifully decorated. Both the shop area and the bathroom area. It can be considered that the shop pays attention to this matter quite well.

Employee service: Average. There's nothing special to comment on because when I went, there were only 2-3 tables with customers, and each table had only a few people.

Travel convenience: This road is only suitable for driving, but it is a newly built road, so the road is very empty and there are very few cars. For those who like to cycle and are not too far away, you can also cycle here. The shop also has bicycle parking.

Value for money: For the main menu items like steak and burgers, I give it a pass in terms of value for money. As for the fried onions, I give it a fail, and the garlic bread barely passes.

Summary: Chis Burgers, or as it may be better known in the future as Chao Doi Steaks & Burgers, is a restaurant with impressive and value-for-money steaks and black burgers. It's perfect for those who enjoy this type of food and are not too far from the restaurant. If you have the time, you should stop by and try it for yourself. Additionally, the restaurant has a unique selling point in the form of Doi Chaang coffee, which is difficult to find in other branches, and it is also a bicycle shop with a fairly large area compared to other shops in the area. Therefore, cycling enthusiasts are likely to enjoy it, as Ratchaphruek Road is a popular route for cyclists. After a ride, you can stop by for a meal, relax, and shop for additional equipment, all in one convenient location.
