" Kanchanaburi "

:: Holidays are meant for relaxation...but our relaxation doesn't mean lying in bed. It means going out and finding happiness in the wide world. ::

In my head, I was thinking about where to go, and then it hit me! I want to go to a waterfall, but where? So I thought, where is close to Bangkok? I can go there and back in one day without staying overnight, because my schedule is packed these days...hehe. I love to travel, even if it's just for one day. So I decided on "Kanchanaburi - Erawan Waterfall".

Once we reached our destination, we were ready to travel. We left Bangkok by private car early in the morning to avoid the heat. We started our journey from Bangkok at 6:00 AM, taking the route **Bangkok - Bang Bua Thong - Bang Len - Kamphaeng Saen - Kanchanaburi**. **Since we live in the inner zone of Bangkok, this route was the most convenient.**

This route may seem like a detour and is about 20 kilometers longer than the first route, but it is convenient for people living in the northern part of Bangkok, such as Min Buri, Lak Si, and Pathum Thani. Moreover, the road is easy to drive on and has less traffic than the Phutthamonthon route.

  • If you start from Chaeng Watthana Road or Ngam Wong Wan Road, cross the river to Bang Bua Thong - Suphan Buri Road.
    - Start from Bang Bua Thong - Suphan Buri Road (Highway No. 340)
    - Then turn left into Bang Len - Kamphaeng Saen District (Highway No. 346)
    - At the intersection 321, turn left to Nakhon Pathom, turn right to Suphan Buri, turn right and you will find a left turn to Phanom Thuan (Route 346)
    - Drive towards Phanom Thuan (Highway No. 346) for about 60 kilometers until you see a sign for a left turn to Kanchanaburi (Route 324)
    - Drive on Route 324 U Thong - Kanchanaburi for about 24 kilometers
    - Arrive at Kanchanaburi city at the clock tower intersection (turn left to the bus station, turn right to the bridge over the River Kwai, turn right to Kaeng Sien intersection)

We're not very familiar with the route as it was our first time there. We relied on GPRS and road signs to navigate. It took us about 3-4 hours to get there, taking our time and enjoying the scenery along the way.

:: The road is not very crowded because it is still early in the morning. You can see the fog, the air is cool and comfortable. ::

:: Before heading to the waterfall, we had some errands to run near Kaeng Jao, which led us to cross the Two Be Number One Bridge... The view from below the bridge is of The Forest Resort, which looked very interesting. If we had more time, we would have stayed there. For now, we just enjoyed the view. Let's go for now. Just this is enough to make me happy. Mountains, rivers, trees. Since we were already there, we took some photos. The atmosphere is so good. ::

:: After taking photos, we continued to our next destination, "Erawan Waterfall". ::

  • Entrance fee: 100 baht for Thai people, half price on weekdays, and a discount for student ID cards... but I'm too old for that now, haha.
  • Car entrance fee: 40 baht

The entrance to the waterfall is quite far... When you get there, there will be a parking lot for parking and a variety of restaurants to choose from.

:: The fare is 30 baht/person. Don't worry, we're still in good spirits! The waterfall has 7 levels, and we'll try our best to reach the 7th level, okay? 555++

:: I kept taking pictures on the way up each floor... Each floor has a different beautiful waterfall. The walkway is covered by a forest, so it's not that hot. I walked and stopped to take pictures all the way. ::

:: The higher you walk, the more tired and sore your legs become, but the beauty of the waterfall gives you the strength to continue. The beauty of the waterfall here is truly as rumored. The higher you go, the farther you go, the more beautiful it is. ::

:: Transformation begins... Fat starts to come out, but it's okay... I said no food, but some people still break the rules. I accidentally took a picture. Anyway, when we go to a tourist spot, we should respect the rules and regulations to keep the place for a long time. I forgot, in the end, we conquered the 7th floor of Phupa Erawan. It's amazing. ::

The descent follows the same path as the ascent. Staff will be on hand to assist, and at 3:30 PM, they will inform you to descend from the 7th floor as it takes time to descend. The total time for ascent and descent is 3 hours. We took frequent breaks and stopped for photos throughout. The total distance is approximately two kilometers, and the ascent is steep but has steps to walk on.

Expense Summary

  • Car fuel 1,200 baht, 3 people share, 400 baht per person
  • Erawan Waterfall entrance fee 50 baht per person/weekday
  • Car fee to enter the waterfall 40 baht
  • Food expenses 300 baht
