A Journey to Find the Meaning of Life
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Sightseeing with Heart: November 7-8, 2015
Go out and hug Thailand because Thailand is beautiful every day..
My journey began once again. After traveling to many places, I still didn't feel the inner inspiration to inspire me until this trip to "Khiriwong". I got to breathe in the "fresh air" to my heart's content, which made me want to come back and review this great place that you shouldn't miss. I have to tell you, if I could request it, I would ask you to come.
Having the opportunity to experience Khiriwong, a real place, I must say, "This is a village of mountains and rivers, a village of dreams that are not dreams, the village with the best air in the country." From the moment we arrived, the first things that greeted us as we stepped into the village were the smiles of the community people and the cool air that relieved the heat (the wind was really strong). It made me feel so good that I was reminded of my trip to Mae Kampong. The atmosphere was the same, only the location was different. The village, apart from the air, also has a great atmosphere.
If you love Mae Kampong, you will fall in love with "Khiriwong".
Water + People + Air = Atmosphere
The starting point of this trip came from a chance encounter with a picture of Ban Kiri Wong on my Facebook feed. The picture of the Kiri Wong Bridge with the backdrop of the river, mountains, and fluffy clouds, the sunlight shining and reflecting on the water's surface, my first feeling was that I wanted to go, I had to go. And then I got to a place that was beyond my imagination, I must say I was not disappointed. The photos are as beautiful as the real place, it's no wonder it's so famous.
Kee Ri Wong Dong Kon Dee
**Khiri Wong Village**: Located in Khlon Subdistrict, Lansaka District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, is an ancient community that migrated to live at the foot of Khao Luang. It is a route to the top of Khao Luang. The villagers have a peaceful way of life in a kinship society. The main occupation is mixed fruit gardening, called "Somrom Garden", such as mangosteen, rambutan, durian, and sataw. The Kiri Wong Village community includes the tie-dye group, the herbal group, the coconut shell weaving group, the fruit juice processing group, the wine group, and the durian paste group. Each group has products that are popular with consumers and tourists who travel to buy souvenirs. The products are inexpensive and of high quality.
[The history of Khao Kiri Wong, I recommend you to find more information to read. I guarantee that you will be happy with Khao Kiri Wong.]
Photos capture only memories...the real place is art
Sutti... but the heart will reach @ Khao Kiri Wong, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
This trip is my first time visiting Nakhon Si Thammarat. I have to thank the new flight route from Don Mueang to Nakhon Si Thammarat by Thai Lion Air. The opening price is reasonable, round trip for 790 baht. The best part is that you can check in your bags for free and they give you snacks on the plane. It's so good! You can just sit back and relax, and in no time you'll be there…
After arriving at Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport, the first thing I did was find a way to get to the city center. Let me tell you, the airport is about 14 kilometers away from the city center. There are no shared taxis to the city, so you have to rent a car or take a taxi. But luckily for me, or maybe it was because of the kindness of the people here, I met a group of people from Nakhon Si Thammarat who were on the same flight as me. They were just about to head into the city and had hired a shared taxi, so they let us ride along with them halfway. They told me with a smile, "This way you won't have to spend a lot on transportation." After that, my friend and I waved our arms like crazy to hail a ride to Khao Kiri Wong village.
Note: For those who will take a car to the city center to connect to the Nakhon Si Thammarat-Khiri Wong double-decker bus, please inform the driver to go to the bus stop for this route. The fare from the city center to Khiri Wong is only 25 baht.
The two-row car I got on was packed with aunts, uncles, and aunts. I didn't get to sit down, but it wasn't a national problem. The aunts and grandmothers greeted us with very sincere smiles, along with conversations all the way. I noticed that the people here are very friendly, no matter who we are or where we come from, they are always ready to welcome us as if we were close relatives for a long time. ^^
"Local culture always welcomes visitors"
I arrived in Khao Kiri Wong with a good feeling throughout the journey. There was a Kathin ceremony here, and the gang of grandmothers who came by car invited me to eat free food at the temple. I was very hungry at that time, but I felt sorry for them. I paid 20 baht for the car fare. Then I asked an old man in the village to take us to the resort. He drove an old car. At first, I thought, "Will it be okay?" because the condition of the car and the old man's body looked classic. I was a little worried because I didn't have life insurance. But the old man brought me to the resort safely. When I asked him the price, he said, "It's up to you." I was stunned for 5 seconds. I was very embarrassed. I didn't know how much to give him. In the end, I paid him 40 baht for the distance of about 1.5 kilometers. After checking into the resort, I went out to live with the local people. I pretended to be a part of the Khao Kiri Wong community and walked around to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of Khao Kiri Wong in the way that the people of Khao Kiri Wong know.
"Don't live like a tourist
Live like a local and you'll fall in love with this place"
" Life is good .... Keree Wong "
" Bicycles are available for rent at 50 ฿ / day. "
The River of Faith...
I can confidently say that the stream, a river of hope and faith that flows through this village, is crystal clear. We can see everything beneath the water, with small and large fish swimming against the current. The cool water in front of us, along with the large rocks scattered along the sides, is surrounded by lush green trees and grass as far as the eye can see. Small flowers add splashes of color, with mountains and mist in the background, moving like a graceful dance. It's truly a beautiful sight, like a painting. This is nature offering us its happiness.
" If you're thinking of a beautiful postcard,
Kee Rewong is the happiness that should be shared with the people you love. "
" Besides good air, there is also a good atmosphere. "
Aside from the natural beauty, we will also see the way of life of the people in the community, who live together with the priceless stream. I think many people must be envious of the people of Kiriwong. How many villages in Thailand can live a life that everyone must scream? Living a raw life, blending in with nature perfectly. The way of life of the people in the community can still be seen with people bathing in the stream. Seeing children undressing and playing in the water with happiness that cannot be bought with money. Seeing uncles, aunts, and uncles washing clothes in the late morning, talking to each other. Seeing young men and women catching fish for a living with sufficiency. Of course, if you are in the situation that I am facing, you will be happy and fulfilled with the people of Kiriwong. But unfortunately, there may not be pictures of the way of life of the people of Kiriwong to show you. Sometimes, the matter of taking pictures is a fine line that should not be overlooked or interfered with the privacy of the people in the community. So, if you want to see beautiful views, a simple way of life that has spiritual value, try to find free time, take a vacation, reset your lungs, and go to rest your body and lean against nature here.
What are the hearts of the people here made of....
How many places in the world are there where people's hearts are not heavily influenced? What you see is what you get. I fell in love with the people of Kiriwong and Nakhon Si Thammarat from the moment I met them. The people here are incredibly friendly, and I've never experienced such a welcoming atmosphere anywhere else. From the first time we met, they offered me smiles, genuine feelings, and sincere eyes, even though I was a stranger. If there was anything they could help me with, they did it wholeheartedly. I think this is the charm of the people of Kiriwong. Some things are hard to describe; you have to experience them for yourself. If you think southern people are scary, you'll have a completely different feeling.
Many people who think of good air will probably think of fields, mountains, sea, various areas in the provinces, or the north, on the top of the mountain, which in every place there may be only good air. Try asking yourself, do we only want to breathe good air in our lives? Which I believe that Kiriwong is an option that has more than clean air, clean water, people who give us more than a hundred hearts, an atmosphere that you can't find anywhere else. Come on, you will fall in love with Kiriwong.
"Air" Kiriwong "may not be measurable in units"
"But the atmosphere here can measure happiness"
They say that...
Before returning, I stopped by to pay my respects at Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, a famous temple that I had heard about for a long time. Finally, I got there by taking a songthaew from Khao Wong to Nakhon Si Thammarat city. The driver, a kind uncle, took me to the bus station. The bus that passes Wat Phra Mahathat will stop in front of the post office. After a short ride, I arrived. The fare was only 10 baht. .... #smile
Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan: Located in the city center of Nakhon Si Thammarat, it houses the "Phra Borommathat Nakhon" or "Phra Borommathat Chedi," a sacred landmark of the city. According to legend, it was first built around 854 AD in the Srivijaya architectural style (many believe it resembles the Phra Borommathat Chaiya in Surat Thani). Inside, it enshrines a tooth relic of the Buddha.
In 1093 AD, King Sri Dharmaraja built the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat and constructed a new stupa in the shape of a stupa over the original stupa. Later, in 1770 AD, a monk from Lanka renovated the stupa into the Sri Lankan or inverted bell shape that we see today.
"The structure of the stupa has been improved."

Overall Summary:
Khiriwong is a dream village for many who love nature and a beautiful way of life that seamlessly connects people with the environment. Water, people, and air combine to create an atmosphere that is more than just Kiriwong. The genuine and welcoming people await travelers like us with smiles. If your body needs rest, the nature here will surely heal and create a balance in your life. Come and breathe the freshest air and embrace Kiriwong.
For the score, I give it 9.5 out of 10 because nowhere is perfect. But I would like everyone to come and experience the good atmosphere and the purity of the air, just like I did. I believe that if you like Mae Kampong, you will easily fall in love with Kiriwong as well.
Accommodation: For accommodation, I chose to book with Kiree Wong Riverview. It's a resort and restaurant with a peaceful atmosphere, privacy, the most beautiful view, and only 2 rooms. Luckily, I was able to book one room for 1,200 baht (average of 600 baht/person). You can book and pay there. As for the food, it's delicious and the atmosphere is excellent. You'll get the value you deserve. [There are homestays in the village with affordable prices of 200-500 baht. Try asking or searching for more information, but it's recommended to book in advance.]
