[ Sightseeing on foot....August 22-23, 2015 ]
"Hello, everyone," said the travel enthusiast, "This review is a record of my first travel experience. (Normally, I travel quite a bit, so much so that I travel more than a country music band. As soon as my salary is paid, I plan a trip.) So, I felt like sharing my feelings and weaving a story for readers who need more information about traveling."
Let's get down to business!!
Traveling frequently has always sparked questions in my mind during every trip. Today, I have the opportunity to start reviewing my travels and share my experiences. What I'm reviewing isn't anything special; it simply stems from my own desire and that of my regular travel companions. Whenever we come across beautiful pictures and cool reviews, like "This is the best experience of my life!" from blogs or posts about various places, we get this feeling like, "I want to go there too! It's so beautiful, I want to take cool pictures there! #wannabeontop #daydreammodeactivated." Then, various questions follow... like, "Um, how do you get to that place?" "Where is it located?" "What's interesting there?" "Is there really happiness along the way?" "Is the local culture welcoming to visitors?" "How much does it cost with limited time?" And so on and so forth.
Alright, I'll start reviewing this happiness through the lens of "S l o w L i f e" nature-based tourism, letting myself go with the mass of green vines in the forest at Mae Kampong village, a village that offers more than just "f r e s h a i r".
"Because here, there is... Mae Kampong"
**Introduction.....Mae Kampong**
Mae Kampong, a small village nestled amidst the mountains in Mae On District, Chiang Mai Province, boasts abundant natural resources. A stream flows through the village, and lush forests surround it, creating a cool and comfortable climate year-round. Established over 100 years ago, Mae Kampong is home to a unique species of flower known as "Dok Kampong," which features yellow and red blossoms and grows along the banks of rivers and streams. The village's name derives from this flower and the nearby river. The villagers' primary occupations include growing miang (a type of edible leaf), farming, and producing coffee. Additionally, Mae Kampong is a well-preserved village, with most of its original structures intact. The villagers originally migrated from Doi Saket District to pursue miang cultivation as their primary occupation. They established their homes near the river and streams, where the "Dok Kampong" flowers once flourished. Today, Mae Kampong is a renowned natural tourist destination, attracting visitors who come to admire its stunning beauty.
Note: From inquiries with villagers, the temperature during the winter will be below 10 degrees Celsius, and the coffee beans will be harvested in January.

Information and travel to Mae Kampong
For this trip, there were 3 friends traveling in total (including me). We planned to travel with limited time, which was 48 hours. It was a simple Saturday and Sunday trip. #Because we used up all our vacation days. Throughout this trip, we worked in the metropolis of Bangkok. Therefore, the best, most convenient, and fastest way to travel with a reasonable price was a low-cost airline. For this trip, we chose our regular airline, the same one that is the most economical and friendly, the kind-hearted lion, which also offers free baggage allowance. That's right!! Lion Air.
Many people may wonder, with only 48 hours, will there be time to travel? Just traveling is over. Let's see what we did in Mae Kampong. Is it worth it or not? I have the answer for you.
" The journey is about to begin!! follow me "
Travel Information Summary.....
Bangkok (Don Mueang) - Chiang Mai: Fly with Lion Air for a round-trip price including tax + luggage = 990+ baht. The flight takes about 1 hour to reach Chiang Mai International Airport. How do I get to my destination from the airport?........?
Chiang Mai International Airport - Mae Kampong Village: For this trip, we opted to rent a car from Mae Kampong Village, as none of us three knew how to drive. It was a bit inconvenient to get around, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. After calculating the cost of multiple transfers, we decided that renting a car would be the most convenient option, even though it meant taking several connecting rides. We settled on a round-trip rental for 1,600 baht (1,600 baht / 3 people = 533.333 baht). #The price wasn't exactly cheap or expensive, but we didn't really have a choice, did we? 555 Oh well, when you're on vacation, you have to go all out!
Note: The distance from the airport to Mae Kampong Village is approximately 50++ km, taking about 1 hour to travel.

And what about the accommodation...?
At Mae Kampong Village, there are "homestays" for tourists who want to stay overnight. For tourists who want to experience the way of life and nature, the accommodation price is very worthwhile. My eyes lit up. It's only 580 baht/person/night + 3 meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast before returning), which is considered okay for living there. The price is so good that you have money left over. 55555 Don't forget to call and ask about the accommodation in advance, because the accommodation is limited.

The first day of the journey.....l22l08l15l
My friends and I agreed to meet at Don Mueang Airport at 7:50 AM. #Wow.. It's a holiday, I woke up early!! Since my friend booked the plane tickets for this trip, he arranged everything and checked us in. But since the free checked baggage allowance would be wasted if we didn't check in our bags, we had to make the most of it. But when we arrived at the airport, oh my god.... I cried so hard. The queue was so longggggggggg... Where are they all going so early? Even though we checked in, we still had to queue to check in our bags. TT #Damn it!! After we checked in our bags and went through all the procedures, it was finally time to fly to Chiang Mai.
Note: It's advisable to arrive early at the airport. Many airlines have early morning flights, and you wouldn't want to miss your flight and ruin your trip!
After almost an hour, Mr. Singto took us to Chiang Mai International Airport. After picking up our luggage, we waited for the driver to pick us up. "Oh my god, I'm so excited! We have a driver to pick us up!" 555 As I mentioned earlier, we rented a car to pick us up from the village. A kind uncle named "Uncle Suthip" came to pick us up. He even brought a pickup truck. I guess the road to the village is not okay, but we are ready to go. The first thought that came to my mind at that moment was
Uncle Suthhep's car pulled up in front of the arrivals hall. We went to say hello to him, as is our custom, and he greeted us in his local northern dialect before switching to formal language. Uncle Suthhep took us to Mae Kampong, chatting with us the whole way. After talking to him, I can say that he is very polite, kind, and friendly. He's also a pretty good driver. If you're looking to hire a car from Mae Kampong, I recommend asking for Uncle Suthhep. Based on my experience, he's a great choice.
The road to Mae Kampong is in good condition throughout the route. There may be some potholes or damage due to the passage of time, but overall it is good. However, once you enter the Mae On area, the road goes uphill for the most part. Some sections of the road are very steep, and some sections are narrow, making it difficult for cars to pass each other. It is recommended that you use a driver who is familiar with the route, and it is also recommended that you go during daylight hours. If you are driving yourself, you should go during the day. If you go in the evening, there will be no streetlights to guide you, which could be dangerous.
" Turn off your phone, open your car windows, and breathe in the fresh air along the way."
Finally arrived at "Mae Kampong Village". Let me tell you, the phone signal might not be very good. Some places have signal, some don't. The worst is dtac. #I'm crying so hard. I can't find any signal in the village. Get ready to cut off from the outside world and stock up on happiness at Mae Kampong with the rest of your life. (The place with phone signal is at the bird watching cafe.)
Note: Free Wi-Fi is available at some locations, such as coffee shops.
" Homestay ... Baan Pee Wanpen "
Uncle Suthip took us to our homestay, where we stayed at Baan Wanpen Homestay. The place where we would lay our heads tonight was a small, single-story wooden house. It was cozy and didn't have air conditioning because Mae Kampong has cool weather all year round. We slept comfortably without feeling hot. There was a water heater, but I must say that the water here is very, very cold! We arrived in Mae Kampong around noon. Baan Wanpen had prepared the first meal of the day for us, and the delicious aroma from the stove wafted from the kitchen. It was time to refuel! #Baan Wanpen's cooking is so delicious! After lunch, we took a leisurely stroll around the village, admiring the scenery.
" Take time for your heart to greet the breeze, and allow the sunlight to meet your body. "
"Four home-style meals, colorful and flavorful"
Mae Kampong Village is blessed with cascading waterfalls that flow through the village. No matter where you walk, you can hear the symphony of the waterfalls harmonizing with the chirping of birds and crickets. #This is the raw beauty of nature. I would say that besides "good air", this place also has a "good atmosphere". Everywhere you look, there is nothing but greenery. How did we get here? #Ask your heart.
" Happiness "
Those who like massages, we offer them here as well.
"The air is cool... the heart begins to cool down.."
After a day of bird watching and exploring the village until the sun set, we walked back to our accommodation, where Ms. Wanphen must have prepared a delicious dinner for us. After dinner, my friends and I sat on the balcony, chatting and reminiscing about old times, allowing the food to settle before going to bed. In Mae Kampong, people go to bed early. By 8 pm, most houses are dark and quiet. As someone who usually stays up late, I found myself going to bed at 8 pm. #GoodLifeInAGoodPlace

**2 days before returning to Bangkok ........l23l08l15l**
Today, my friends and I decided to wake up early in the morning. Our wake-up code was 6-7-8 (wake up at 6 am, eat breakfast at 7 am, and start exploring at 8 am). We wanted to experience the morning atmosphere of Mae Kampong, the lifestyle and traditions of the local community. Before returning to eat breakfast that P' Wanpen had prepared for us, we took photos around the village, sipped coffee at Chom Nok Chom Mai, and visited the waterfall.
Note: The waterfall is not far from the village, about 1.5 km.
" Every moment...a place of peace and quiet "
" Filled with a sense of comfort when I get to rest at Ping Osowarak, it truly exists."
Note: There are 7 levels of waterfalls, but I didn't go up to the top
" B e c a u s e h e r e .... L i f e i s i n b a l a n c e "
After completing our mission and filling ourselves with happiness, we returned to have lunch. For lunch, we paid P' Wanpen to cook for us again. She charged the same price as before, which is 60 baht per person per meal. After lunch, at 1 pm, Uncle Suthip came to pick us up to take us to the city center. For this trip, we didn't just end at Mae Kampong. Since we booked a late flight back to Bangkok, we planned to continue our trip to Doi Suthep and Doi Pui, and then walk around the walking street before returning. However, since this trip was originally intended to be just to Mae Kampong, I will only review Mae Kampong.
"This is the vacation time. This time is very meaningful."

Overall Summary
For those who want to visit Mae Kampong village, I highly recommend it. If I could give it a full score of 10, I would give it 9.5/10. I'll keep the 0.5 because nowhere is perfect. But if you get to experience the atmosphere here, you won't regret it. You won't regret the time you spent here. For those who love nature, rawness, simplicity, and dislike chaos, try living in Mae Kampong for a while. Spend a night there, and it will be enough to collect happiness here. The brain that has been suffering for years, let it go and breathe in happiness to fill your lungs. #Because this place is a good supplement
