Three years ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Vietnam by car from Thailand. I crossed the second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge in Mukdahan Province into Laos and then continued by car to Vietnam. It was a journey that I still remember fondly. There are many cities in Vietnam that I was impressed with, each with its own unique character. And here, "Da Nang City," an important port city in Vietnam, is where I discovered BaNa Hills.

From the coffee shop in front of Da Nang train station, we hired a taxi to Bana Hills, about 30 kilometers from the city center. Along the way, we looked at the views on both sides of the road. In a short while, we arrived at Bana Hills.

Nestled on Ba Na Mountain in Da Nang, 1,487 meters above sea level, Bana Hills is widely regarded as the best resort destination in Central Vietnam. Blessed with a cool and pleasant climate year-round, the area's development began during the French colonial era. Recognizing its idyllic atmosphere, the French constructed a road leading to the mountaintop and transformed it into a resort. After the war, Bana Hills remained abandoned for an extended period. However, as Vietnam embarked on its post-war development, including tourism, Bana Hills was revitalized and emerged as a renowned tourist attraction in Da Nang. Notably, the Bana Hills cable car holds the Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop single-track cable car, stretching an impressive 5,801 meters, nearly six kilometers. Additionally, the Ba Na Hills Station is the largest cable car station in Southeast Asia.

The cable car slowly ascended, revealing a breathtaking view of Da Nang city, the surrounding mountains, and the vast South China Sea. The cool air brushed against our faces as our eyes scanned the beauty before us. As we climbed higher, we entered a veil of mist, as if we had stepped into another world. Everything around us was white, leaving us to imagine what awaited us ahead.

It takes about 20 minutes to break through the fog, and the fairy tale-like city gradually appears before our eyes. We are approaching the end of the world's longest cable car ride. Enjoy the beautiful view. There are also open-air cable cars that allow you to fully embrace the wind and fog. On the way down, we can sit like this and enjoy the atmosphere. What's up here? First, we will find European-style architecture and a fairy tale-like castle, which is an indoor amusement park with many rides, shops, restaurants, and complete facilities. There are also hotels and resorts on the top of the mountain, as well as temples and a white Buddha statue that can be seen from afar. On a clear day, you can also see the vast South China Sea.

** And what you can't miss is playing the Roller Coaster, letting yourself go with the force of gravity, with the beautiful atmosphere and views of Bana Hills. We played for 50,000 dong per round. **

Due to our limited time, our journey did not end there. We had to rush back to Da Nang city to catch our train to Hanoi, which we had booked in advance. As for Bana Hills, if you are in Da Nang, you must visit it at least once. Just taking the cable car and enjoying the view along the way, looking at the white mist, is enough to fill you with joy.

  • The most convenient way to get to BaNaHills from Da Nang city center is by taxi, and the price is negotiable. We chartered a taxi from Da Nang Railway Station for a round trip of 500,000 VND.
