Escape love, take a break from work, disconnect @ Ratchaprapha Dam, Surat Thani
Hello everyone, I'm back after a long absence. It's like I'm frozen in time, haha. I don't know what I've been busy with, but let's get started. Today, we're going to Ratchaprapha Dam or Cheow Lan Dam in Surat Thani Province, my hometown. Although my house is nearby, I've never been to the dam area before. Today, I'm going to see for myself what the "Guilin of Thailand" is like. Let's go!
Let me start by saying that this article is just a mini-review, so it may be missing some details or just be a travelogue that I'm sharing. P.S. But you can ask me more questions, both on and off the mic. I don't bite, I'm vaccinated. Haha

Getting Ready for the Trip
As this was a trip where I wanted to fully relax for 3 days and 2 nights, I did a lot of research on the different floating houses available. It took me a while to decide because there are many options at the Ratchaprapha Dam. In the end, I chose the Kraisorn Floating House (operated by the Khao Sok National Park Protection Unit) because it is the furthest house on the dam and has a very wide view. Plus, I wanted a truly relaxing experience with minimal crowds, so I opted for a remote location.
Once you have chosen your accommodation, the next step is to choose your transportation. You can choose to be picked up and dropped off, or you can stay at the raft with us. This has been kindly arranged by the Pak Kaisorn raft. Let's talk more and get going!
Day 1 At the pier
As soon as I stepped onto the boat, I looked up and saw a large group of rain clouds. I wondered if we would survive, as the boat only had a sunshade roof.
Is this what they call the dam crest?
After a while on the boat, the sky began to open up, revealing a view of the mountains ahead.
We sailed for about half an hour, enjoying the scenery along the way. Finally, we arrived at our destination. But wait, it wasn't the Pak Graisorn floating market yet. Instead, we had reached the Khao Sam Koelon viewpoint.
The boat driver stopped for us to admire the view for a long time, more than 10 minutes. We were so overwhelmed with the beauty that we didn't know what poses to strike for our photos. After taking our fill of pictures, we continued our journey.
We sat until we were sleepy, and we took pictures. Less than an hour passed, and then we finally arrived at the Pak Graisorn raft. But... it really is as far as the rumors say. We sat on the boat for a long time.
Hello everyone, I'm new here. Please take care of me.
Upon arriving at the floating house, we stored our belongings and relaxed for a while. Soon, the staff members on the house called us for lunch. While waiting for the food, I played with a cat named Som Sri (as I heard people call it). I, however, called it a "sea cat" (haha). It was adorable. It was a cat that wasn't afraid of water because it lived on the floating house.
It's perfect timing, just in time for lunch.
I had just finished eating and was feeling full when I was given a grand welcome. 555+ It was really big. It was raining heavily, probably because we were on a raft. The heavy rain made me feel excited, but also a bit scared.
A moment later, the rain had passed.
Don't let time pass by. After sitting and lying down, it's time to jump into the water.
After playing in the water and paddling the boat to our heart's content, we returned to sit, lie down, and eat snacks while enjoying the evening view.
I was sitting in my room when I heard a loud shout of "Rainbow!" from the foreigners who were playing in the water in front of my room. I went to look and wow... there was a rainbow very close by.
Around 7 pm, the officer came to call me for dinner.
Day 2 The morning sun, but... unfortunately the sky wasn't very clear.
Our breakfast
This morning's activity was a boat trip to see the fish farm and watch the birds.
You see that? It's a hornbill, I'm serious, that's the black shadow. With the limited ability of people and cameras, this is the only picture I could get. The boat driver said that I was very lucky to see it because it is rarely seen. At that time, I saw a large flock of them, and they were all chirping. I was so happy to see them up close because hornbills are an indicator of the abundance of nature.
After a boat ride, I came back to sit and lie down.
After lunch, we took a boat trip to the waterfall in the middle of the dam.
After returning from the waterfall, we played around and ended up falling asleep. We woke up in the afternoon when the sun was less intense and the wind had calmed down. Feeling refreshed, we continued our adventure by going for a paddle in the boat.
I don't know where she got her energy from, but she rowed the boat from 3 pm to 6 pm. She got to see the sunset in the middle of the dam, which was very romantic. Well... she just had a broken heart.
After a fun (or maybe crazy) day of paddling, the raft provided a full dinner and some drinks for sale. We wasted no time in digging in, enjoying the food and the view under the stars. After a while, our eyes started to get heavy, and it was time for bed. Good night, see you tomorrow morning!
Day 3 Good morning, the sky is so beautiful. I woke up just in time, I woke up because I had to pee 555 Otherwise, I would have seen the sun overhead for sure.
After waking up early to watch the sunrise, I fell back asleep for a bit. 555+ When I woke up again, I got ready to go back. Before leaving, the raft had breakfast for us to eat. Chicken porridge, it was so delicious! Normally, I don't like it that much. I was so full and happy with this trip. 3 days 2 nights, it's time to say goodbye to the Kraisorn raft.
Sneaking a peek at the 500-acre raft on the way back.
As the boat sailed back, the waves and wind were a bit strong, almost causing the morning porridge to spill out.
Arrived at the port safely
The 3-day, 2-night trip to Paigrasorn Floating Resort at Cheow Lan Lake has come to an end. Thank you for the wonderful experiences. Traveling is always a learning experience and an opportunity to encounter new things. Embrace nature when you are tired and discouraged, and then return to fight again.
Thank you for following.
