We walked 10 minutes to Kaminoyama Castle.
As we were in a hurry to get to the castle, we didn't take any pictures along the way. It took us 10 minutes to reach the castle.

Kaminoyama Castle is located in the center of Kaminoyama City, in eastern Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.

During the Warring States period, Kaminoyama Castle was built on a hill in the center of the town. In the subsequent, more peaceful Edo period, the castle served as the seat of the local lords, but its keep was eventually torn down. The current castle keep is a concrete reconstruction from the 1980s that stands a little further down the hillside than the original castle and does not reflect its original design. It houses a local history museum and is equipped with an elevator and an observation deck on the top floor with views over the town

During the war, Kaminoyama Castle was built on a hill, the center of the city. Later, during the Edo period, the city became more peaceful, and the castle was converted into a residence for local lords. However, it eventually collapsed. The castle was rebuilt in concrete in 1980, without reflecting the original design. The castle has been converted into a local history museum, with an elevator to the top floor, offering panoramic views of the city.

The evening atmosphere is beautiful in a different way.

Beautiful view of ZAO Mountain

All restaurants and shops are closed.

On the right side of the picture, there is a place to soak your feet. After exploring, we went to soak our feet while waiting for the castle lights to turn on.

There is a small garden near the castle for children to play in.

Around 5:20 PM, it started to get dark. It's winter and the atmosphere is gloomy with rain.

Turn around to take a picture of the castle view

Turn on the lights and take another picture.

The moon has risen, and the crows are starting to return to their nests. (There are a lot of crows here, and they make a lot of noise when they fly.)

We walked back down to take a picture in front of the entrance. We came up from the back of the castle, the front was backlit.

This is the front entrance. The museum is inside, but we arrived too late. It closes at 4:45 PM.
