Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew Temple We traveled there after coming down from Chiang Khan in July. As it was a long weekend, there were quite a lot of tourists and the sun was very hot. If anyone plans to visit this place, don't forget to bring an umbrella or a hat. Most importantly, wear socks as well because you have to take off your shoes on the top platform. The floor is really hot, so wearing socks will help a lot. Let's see what this place has to offer.
- Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew Siriratchathummanimit Chedi
Built to commemorate the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King's reign, the pagoda houses a relic of the Lord Buddha, which was bestowed by His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatanana, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand. The base of the pagoda serves as a repository for Buddhist teachings, enigmatic parables, and a space for meditation for Buddhists.
The pagoda is adorned with colorful tiles, Sangkhalok ceramics, and various gemstones. When the sunlight reflects on them, it creates a stunning spectacle.
- The Great Stupa of the Five Buddhas
The base has a width of 41 meters, a length of 72 meters, and a height of 45 meters. It is divided into 6 floors. The first and second floors are for the accommodation of meditation practitioners, while the other areas are for various religious activities.
- Emerald Buddha Pavilion
The square-shaped meditation pavilion is airy and surrounded by large glass panels, allowing visitors to connect with the lush green mountains. The surrounding area is adorned with a variety of flowers and trees.
