After working hard for 3 months, my body started to feel weak and I craved a trip. I researched many places, and finally decided on Khao Sok. The reason was because I had never been there before, and it was a place I had wanted to visit for a very long time. Finally, I had the chance to go.
One month before our trip, we called to book a raft from the National Park. Perhaps because we were going during a holiday weekend, almost all the rafts were fully booked. But then we found a place to stay, "Toi Tei Raft".
The National Park charged 800 baht per person, including three meals (lunch/dinner/breakfast). Since we were going all the way there, we decided to make the most of our travel time and booked two nights. 555+...
However, since there were only two of us, the park ranger told us that he would arrange for us to join a boat with a group of foreigners. On the way back, he would put us on another group's boat that was returning on the same day.
(The ranger told us that tourists usually stay for only 2 days and 1 night.) He arranged for us to meet him at the municipal pier before 10 am.
And he didn't forget to give us the phone number of the boat driver (thank you for your kindness).
We traveled from Bangkok to Surat Thani byสมบัติทัวร์ VIP Supreme, 8:20 pm departure, 711 baht. (As soon as we paid, the next day there was a flight promotion for the same price.) We arrived at Surat Thani Bus Terminal around 7 am, 2 hours later than scheduled.
After taking care of some personal business, we took a songthaew to the Agricultural Market 2. The fare was 20 baht per person, and it took about 40 minutes to get there.
The car will stop at the entrance of the market. We had to walk further to find the van queue to the dam. We got the 9 am round, already anticipating that we might miss the boat.
Oh!!...The van fare was 150 baht per person.
And it turned out as expected. It was past 10 am and we had only reached the halfway point. We called the boat driver and she said she couldn't wait for us.
But she would help us find another boat, which we agreed to. We figured if we couldn't find a boat, we would just find a place to stay on the shore for the night and then find another group to join the next day.
A little after 11 am, we arrived at the pier. A short while later, someone contacted us. It turned out they were related to the boat driver, and their boat had just dropped off some customers and was on its way back to their floating house to buy supplies.
They asked for 1,000 baht for gas, which we quickly agreed to. We arranged to meet at 1 pm. While we waited, we ate lunch, watched people passing by, and took some photos.
And then it was time for our appointment. At around 1 pm, the woman who owns the boat contacted us and took us to another boat. Because we had to refuel and load fresh supplies. In the midst of bad luck, there was still good luck. We got a big boat and there were only 2 of us.
Let's go on a journey...
A strangely shaped limestone mountain, the sky is very cooperative. The woman said that it hasn't rained for 2-3 days.
Oh... I was hoping to lie down and listen to the rain for a while.
I took a boat ride for about 1.30 hours. The boat took me to a raft in the middle of the mountains. The water was clear and emerald green.
I picked up my phone to check the screen. There was no phone signal, no internet signal. This is what we need.
It was almost 3 pm when I arrived. The receptionist showed me to my room, told me the time for dinner, and informed me that the lights would be on from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
After I settled into my room, the receptionist told me that lunch was ready for me…perfect timing, I was starving! 555+
When the sun went down and the wind died down, it was time to go swimming. Normally, I don't like to swim (actually, I don't like to get wet), but the water was so clear…so clear that I couldn't resist jumping in.
(Before jumping in, I put on a life jacket, the water is deep) I swam until I was content, then went paddleboarding. I don't know how to paddleboard, but I wanted to try every activity available.
After that, I took a shower. Oh! The bathrooms here are shared, but they are clean and there are 5 of them, including an open-air one. I mostly saw men showering.
Exhausted from the activities, it was just in time for dinner. Dinner consisted of 4 dishes (excluding fish), all of which were delicious.
Especially the sour curry with pickled bamboo shoots, it was spicy, flavorful, and very rich. I must say... my little sister said that if I wasn't full, I could ask for more. So I did.
"Sister, can I have more sour curry please?"
Full and satisfied, we sat and played in front of the house. An officer walked over and asked if we wanted to go on a boat trip to see some animals. "Of course!" we replied, grabbing our jackets and following him down to the boat.
The boat moved slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible. After a while, it stopped in the middle of the darkness. The air began to cool down as raindrops started to fall.
During this time, the whole forest was silent. The people on the boat were also quiet, as if they were entering a trance. Large flashlights shone on both sides of the path, which was nothing but forest.
We tried to look for eyes that reflected the light, but there were no living things. 555+...
When it was time, the uncle drove the boat back to the raft. Before returning to our accommodation, the officer told us that he would take us on a boat trip to see the fog at 6:30 am the next morning.
We agreed, and soon after, we went to our accommodation, turned on the fan, got under the mosquito net, and fell fast asleep.
Good morning, the weather is cool and comfortable. Let's take a boat to see the fog.
A member of the boat crew said that the water level was higher a few years ago and there were more trees. Soon, only dead trees will be left here because of the lack of water.
My heart sank when I heard it. I don't want that day to come.
Then I came back to have breakfast. The menu was chicken porridge and toast with jam. I ate 4 cups lightly.
There was nothing to do this morning. It's a shame I didn't bring a book to read, so I took another nap. (Still is asleep, moving is...)
Today's lunch was pickled lemon gourd soup, and it was absolutely delicious!
After lunch, the staff informed us that we would be visiting Tham Nam Thalu Cave this afternoon. We readily agreed, as usual.
Tham Nam Thalu Cave is just a short distance from Patong Pier. It takes about 5 minutes by boat to reach the cave, but then you have to walk through the jungle for 2.5 kilometers.
If you walk in a circle, this trail will take you past Bat Cave and Four-Hole Cave, for a total distance of about 11.5 kilometers. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time.
This forest is very humid, with water flowing through it constantly. The trail is well-defined and easy to follow, but it can be muddy in places and quite slippery.
In some sections, you have to wade through water and climb over rocks.
It didn't take long to arrive. After walking into the cave for a short while, the officer informed us that we could not continue because the water was high and strong, and they were worried about our safety. So we left the cave and walked to the waterfall instead, which was about 100 meters away.
Sitting and relaxing, drinking in the natural beauty before me, and taking deep breaths of fresh air, it's truly refreshing.
It was time for the officers to take them back on the original route.
I arrived back at my accommodation at around 3 pm. There were no other activities except for swimming and paddling a boat. Hehe..
I showered, bathed, and had dinner. The highlight was still the pickled bamboo shoot curry, as usual... with the addition of an omelet.
Tonight is the last night. I want to keep every atmosphere of this place. It's a pity that the sky is not open. Otherwise, we would have seen the stars full of the sky for sure.
This morning, there were no activities. I finished my personal errands, packed my bags, had breakfast, and prepared to leave at 9:00 AM.
Today, there were 3 groups of members traveling back on the same boat, and this is the landmark where all boats must stop.
"Khao Sam Kler"
We arrived at the pier around 10 am and called to book a van to pick us up at noon. The return trip includes drop-off at the airport and bus terminal for the same price.
As for us, we took theสมบัติทัวร์ bus back at 7:40 pm, which gave us several hours to walk around Central Festival. 555+...
Overall, we were very impressed with the trip. The only negative was the musty smell of the bedding. Other than that, we loved everything, especially the peaceful atmosphere.
We were completely cut off from the outside world, and most importantly, the food was delicious every meal. If we had more time, we would have liked to stay longer.
But anyway, now that we've had our first time, there will definitely be a second time and more to come.
We will be back again...for now, we'll just miss him (Sgk) first.
