Hello everyone, today I have another food review for you. This time, it's a review of a steak buffet that I had the opportunity to try. This was my first time trying a steak buffet like this, and it left me feeling incredibly full because there were 8 different types of steak to choose from!!
Our destination for this episode is Moxie Restaurant, located on the 1st floor of the dusitD2 Chiang Mai Hotel. While this restaurant normally serves other types of cuisine, every Friday evening they offer an all-you-can-eat steak special. In addition to the steak, there are also many other dishes to choose from. So, let's go and check it out!
Date of consumption: Friday, June 24, 2016
Approximate time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Number: 2 people
Note: The Friday Steak Night Buffet will only be available on Friday evenings, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Upon arriving at Moxie Restaurant and stating my name, the staff promptly escorted me to my reserved table. The ambiance was noticeably dim, with tables spaced generously apart. This intimate setting makes it ideal for business discussions or romantic tête-à-têtes, offering a high degree of privacy.
Let me show you the atmosphere on the table. As you can see, it's quite dark. Even the sofa chairs that are used for sitting are barely visible in the picture. So, for those who like to take pictures, it might be a bit difficult. T_T

On our table, in addition to glasses, plates and cutlery, there was another very important thing, which was the wooden clothespin with our table number. As for my table that day, it was B4.

Now that we know our table number, the next thing we'll do is...

Order food! Why are you waiting?!
My first destination was Steak Station, where there were 2-3 chefs on duty.

At this Steak Station, there will be small pieces of paper like the one in the picture. These are used to indicate the type of meat and the desired doneness. Simply tick the box next to the type of meat you want and write the desired quantity on the back. The doneness levels below are only for orders of beef.

According to the menu, there were only 7 types of meat to choose from. However, during my visit, the restaurant had added lamb to the menu, bringing the total to 8 types of meat.
1. Pork
2. Chicken
3. Shrimp
4. Squid
5. Fish
6. Duck
7. Content
8. Lamb
And of course, I have to try all 8 types so that I can tell you all about it. So tick all of them. @_@
After placing my order, I took a walk around to explore the place. Before I could finish, the food started to arrive one after another. I must say, the service was quite fast. Let's take a look at what we have here. Starting with the first plate, we have the meat and pork. The pork comes in the form of ribs, while the beef I ordered is cooked to medium doneness.

The two steaks were not very large, which was a relief to me. If each piece had been large and filled the plate, my wife and I would have definitely needed some digestive help. T___T And I think the size of the steak is a big plus, because it allows people to easily try other types of meat. If you like something in particular, just order it again. It only takes a few minutes to wait, and you get to eat it hot.
In terms of taste, I was very impressed with the pork ribs. They were crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and the meat was so tender that it practically fell off the bone. I'm guessing they were slow-cooked beforehand, which is probably why they were so tender. This was definitely my favorite dish of the night, and I even ordered a second helping.
The Medium-rare steak I ordered was not tough, cooked to perfection, and tasted good. Some steak lovers might prefer Rare, Medium Rare, or Well Done, which would result in a different taste.

Let's move on to the second dish. This dish has fish, squid, and shrimp. The taste is like this.
Fish: Personally, I think it's a bit salty. If you reduce the saltiness a bit, it would be better. You can eat it for a long time because it's not heavy on the stomach.
Squid: Excellent, fresh, and bouncy texture.
Shrimp: The size is rather small and it doesn't feel as fresh as it should be.

Moving on to the third dish, this one features chicken, lamb, and duck. In the picture, you can also see another shrimp, as I ordered two shrimps. Here's what I thought about the flavors:
Chicken: This is a lemongrass chicken steak. It's delicious! The seasoning is perfect, and the lemongrass flavor isn't too strong, so you can enjoy it without worry.
Lamb: The meat is tender, no foul odor, the pieces are quite large, and there is a little fat marbled in the meat. The outer edges are full of fat. I think people who like to eat lamb will like it.
Duck: It was neatly sliced and arranged. The meat was a bit dry, though. I think this type of meat might not be very suitable for making steak. This is the first time I've ever had the chance to see and try it.

For steak orders, you can order as many as you like until the restaurant closes. The Steak Station offers 6 different dipping sauces to choose from, including:
- Hot Pepper
- Mustard
- Chili paste
- Seafood
- Butter lime
- Jelly (to be eaten with lamb)
First of all, I recommend trying a little bit of each dipping sauce to see which one you like best. If you find a dipping sauce that you like with a certain type of meat, I think some people might be able to eat it all the way until the restaurant closes. Haha
For those who are tired of eating only steak, don't worry or turn away in disgust. This restaurant also offers a variety of other dishes to choose from. In fact, there are quite a few options. Starting with the first, the Pasta Station.
This Pasta Station is located near the Steak Station and offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from. My wife and I decided to try the "Squid Ink Carbonara Pasta". The taste was excellent, delicious, creamy and rich. The only downside is that the portion size was a bit large, which took up some stomach space for the meat. For those who don't want to eat a lot, you can always ask the chef for a smaller portion. ><

The other menus are also interesting. They are arranged in a long line along the left wall of the room, starting with various fresh, crispy and delicious vegetable salads.

Followed by smoked salmon, Soup Station and various snacks. From the 2-3 dishes I tried, I found the taste to be good, especially the smoked salmon. It was delicious!

Next up were the fried food and pizza stations. The fried food station had french fries, fried potatoes, and fried onions. The pizza station had a variety of different toppings, but I didn't eat anything from this station because I was already very full from the meat.

In addition to savory dishes, there are also desserts. The appearance looks good and the taste is okay. The menu on the day I went was as follows:
Brownie cheesecake: The bottom is brownie, the top is cheesecake. Delicious, perfect, and goes very well together.
Sticky rice with mango: The size is just right, the sticky rice is black sticky rice, it's delicious. As for the mango on top, I think it's a bit too little. ><
Banana Coconut Cake : The taste is okay.
Creme brulee: It's just as delicious.

As for fruits, there are pineapples, papayas, cantaloupes and watermelons. They are delicious and sweet.

After dessert and fruit, this restaurant also offers tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. The tea and coffee are excellent. The tea is from TWG and offers a selection of English Breakfast, Earl Grey, and Chamomile. The coffee options include black coffee, cappuccino, latte, mocha, and espresso.
Okay, now that I've shown you everything, let's summarize my thoughts on this meal by category.
Taste of the food: As there were many dishes, there were some that I liked and some that I didn't. However, overall, out of the 8 types of steak, I was impressed with 5 of them: pork ribs, beef, squid, chicken, and lamb. I was especially impressed with the pork ribs. As for the other food items, both savory and sweet, that my wife and I tried, we were impressed and they all passed the test. For some dishes that I didn't get to try, such as pizza and fried food, I'll have to let others who have had the chance to eat them give their opinions. ^^
Variety of food: At first, when I saw the restaurant's poster, I thought that there would only be steak to eat. I secretly wondered if the meal would be too greasy and boring. But when I had the opportunity to eat there, I found that there were many other types of food to eat, including rice, dishes, snacks, soup, salad, pizza, pasta, desserts, fruits, and finally tea and coffee. When combined with the 8 types of steak, I think it's a very diverse restaurant. These 8 types of meat should also please food lovers, including large groups of members who meet up for a big party, because there are many choices to choose from and taste.
Shop cleanliness: There is no problem with this point. Because it is located in a hotel of this grade, this point is easily passed.
Employee service: Passed the same as well. Smiling, caring, good service.
Convenience of travel: This restaurant is located in the dusitD2 Chiang Mai hotel in the Night Bazaar area, which I think is a good location. Red trucks are familiar with it, and for Chiang Mai residents who drive, they can easily park their cars because the hotel has a lot of parking space.
Value for money: At first glance, the price of Friday Steak Night Buffet may seem high at 649 baht net for adults, 325 baht net for children aged 3-12, and free for children under 3. However, considering that this is an all-you-can-eat buffet with 8 different types of premium steak, I think it's a reasonable price and worth trying. Especially for those who love meat and lamb, as the price of these two types of meat is quite expensive. Eating just a few pieces might not only be reasonable but also very worthwhile. For those who don't eat much or don't like steak that much, you might want to weigh your options before trying it, as it's not easy to find a restaurant that offers a steak buffet like this. But if you think it's not worth it or not your style, it's better to choose a restaurant that you're more familiar with.
Summary: If you are a Chiang Mai resident looking for a place to relax and have a meal with your family, enjoy a romantic dinner with your partner, or are a traveler who has the opportunity to stay near this hotel, and you love meat, lamb, and steak, then this restaurant is the answer for you. Or, if you are looking for a semi-private place to have a business meeting, where you can talk for a long time without worrying about the time, and with polite staff who will always be there to serve you, then this is also the answer for you. However, don't forget that the Steak Night Buffet is only open on Fridays. Don't go on the wrong day or you'll miss out! @_@
