Apologies for the poor image quality, still practicing! I will not go into the details of the trip, but I will recommend some interesting spots. Using GPS navigation will be more convenient.

I had a wonderful time during my two-day, one-night trip to Chanthaburi over the long weekend of July 16-17, 2016.

Certainly, Chanthaburi is known for its fruits, but we didn't touch any fruit at all. Haha! We just went sightseeing and tried famous restaurants. You could say that visiting Chanthaburi guarantees happiness. Haha!

We departed at approximately 5:00 AM and arrived in Chanthaburi around 9:00 AM via private car. Individuals without private transportation can rent motorbikes, hire motorbike taxis, or arrange private car rentals for their excursions. This information was obtained from our accommodation provider.

A place to lay one's head in Chanthaburi

First of all, the accommodation was very satisfactory. Let's see why!

Sim 27 Hostel

Tel. 098-4620306

We opted for Sim 27 Hostel, a shared accommodation option where we could interact with fellow travelers.

There are both 4-person and 6-person rooms available, with a price of 300 baht per person. There are options for both ensuite and shared bathrooms. The advantage of having a shared bathroom is that you don't have to listen to the sound of the toilet flushing at night.

Alternatively, private rooms are available for 650-690 baht, with an additional 250 baht for an extra bed. While sharing a room with strangers may be unfamiliar to most Thais, it can be an opportunity to meet new travel companions and exchange experiences.

The reason I chose this place was because it was close to the tourist attractions in Chanthaburi city. The accommodation was clean and the owner was very friendly and accommodating.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a cheerful demeanor.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy home. The living room is equipped with board games, and every corner offers picturesque photo opportunities. Overall, it's a delightful experience.

Upon returning, I was impressed with the accommodation and decided that if I visit again, I will choose this place: sim 27 Hostel.

Places to visit in Chanthaburi

  • The first place to visit for a scenic view is Khung Wiman.

From the intersection, turn left first. It will be the Nang Phaya Viewpoint.

The right-hand fork in the road leads to the Hin Krong viewpoint.

- The free aquarium is another must-see, with beautiful and fascinating aquatic creatures.

We then visited the mangrove forest, which is located near the aquarium.

  • Study Center for the Development of Ao Kung Kraben Bay

In the afternoon, we checked into our accommodation before heading out to Pliew Waterfall.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

  • Pliu Waterfall, entrance fee 40 baht.

After visiting the waterfall, we went to Jantr Bhochana restaurant for lunch. If you prefer street food, there is a walking street market open on Saturdays and Sundays opposite the King Taksin Monument.

  • Next, we will visit the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Chanthaburi.

Visiting at night offers a beautiful view of the interior.

As it was already late when we arrived, we thought the church would be closed. However, it seemed they were preparing for a morning ceremony, so we were able to take a few pictures. It must have been around 10 pm at that time.

Before bed, we enjoyed a fun board game session. It was even more enjoyable with a group of friends, but playing with other guests is also an option if they're interested. Don't miss out on the games here! Currently, there are three board games available, with more to be added in the future. For inquiries about game availability and schedules, please contact the accommodation directly.

Additionally, there is a PlayStation console available. While I have never played it, anyone who wishes to do so is welcome to use it in the living room.

Let's continue on Day 2.

- Another visit to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi to capture the daytime atmosphere.

We then walked out the front, where there was a bridge leading to the riverside community of Chanthaburi.

  • The riverside community of Chanthaburi has plenty of delicious food. We had a good snack here. This community is very walkable, with a classic old-world feel and many photogenic corners. But I'll only share these few for now.

Auntie Pen's stall, Yen Ta Fo, Wat Phai Lom branch is now open. It opens around 9 am. Let's go try it.

After leaving the accommodation, visit Krathing Waterfall.

  • Khao Khitchakut National Park, Krathing Waterfall, entrance fee 40 baht, but the ticket can be used for free at Khlong Paiboon Waterfall on the same day.

The slope is steep on the way up. The jacket, hat, and glasses are still on me. On the 5th floor, everything mentioned above is put in a backpack. Haha, it's hot! Not hot from the sun, but from exhaustion!

Translation:

This image is from the 7th or 8th floor, I can't remember, but it's beautiful. You have to see it for yourself. And if you go up to the 9th floor, be very careful.

Due to the slippery, windy, and steep terrain, I was soaked before even entering the water.

The Khlong Phaibun waterfall section has no pictures to share, but it is a stream where you can play in the water. On that day, it was a long weekend, so there were a lot of people, so I didn't play in the water.

The entrance fee to Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is 40 baht. We arrived at almost 4 pm, and it was raining. It turned out that the park was already closed! So we just got stuck in the rain for free, haha.

If you are going, check the time first. It's a nice place to visit and eat in Chan.

To eat in the moon

  • The first meal was around noon near Khung Wiman (if I remember correctly, I'm forgetful, haha).

Translation:

Fried fish in sour curry, garlic fried shrimp, squid stir-fried with curry powder. Total 630 baht, divided by 3 people. The taste is average.

In the evening, stop by Chanthaburi Phochana. But if you prefer to stroll and snack, there is a Saturday-Sunday walking street opposite the King Taksin Monument.

- Chandra Phochana: This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but I didn't get to try much. It was crowded.

We tried the stir-fried pork with Chamuang leaves, Pad Thai Sen Chan, durian salad, and fiddlehead fern salad. We also wanted to try the mangosteen salad, but they were out of stock. We found that most of the dishes were quite sweet, which we heard is typical of Chanthaburi cuisine. Overall, the food was delicious, even better than our first meal. We would rate this restaurant 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Spicy pork salad with tender pork and aromatic spices.

In our opinion, Pad Thai is just average.

This durian paste is average, but the durian is delicious and I've never tried it anywhere else before.

Translation:

Yum Pak Koot (Spicy Salad with Cha-Om Leaves) typically includes shrimp, pork, and squid. If I recall correctly, it has a sweet and slightly spicy flavor profile.

Today, 505 baht.

For breakfast on the 2nd, we had a light meal at the riverside community of Chanthaburi. It's worth noting that if all the shops were open, it would probably be around 10-11 am.

However, we arrived around 8-9 am, so we didn't see everything.

- Riverside communities in Chanthaburi offer a plethora of delicious food options.

Start with the "Xin Chao" Vietnamese pancake. This is a must-try at this restaurant.

The restaurant just opened at the beginning of July 2016. The prices are reasonable.

Delicious! The dough is chewy and soft, the pork is stir-fried with a delicious flavor and aroma, and the filling is generous. Haha, 30 baht for a set of 5 pieces.

Fried egg style, 35 baht. I like this one.

Another option would be the frame, but when I went, there wasn't enough sunlight to dry the dough, so I couldn't eat it. Hehe.

Walking back, I saw a colorful array of food that was too tempting to resist. I had to try it!

  • Jelly cake is affordable at 20 baht per piece, making it a great option for those who want to try it.

The taste is okay, but if you eat a lot, it might be too sweet. Haha, it's delicious. You should try it.

Translation:

In addition to the fruits mentioned, there were others available, such as salak and star apple, which were also sold for 25 baht per kilogram from the nearby orchard.

Our next destination was a must-try spot: Jeh Pen Yen Ta Fo.

- Pen Yen Ta Fo, we came to the Wat Phai Lom branch. I can't remember the other branch.

The seafood selection was impressive, although the sweetness was a bit overwhelming. Overall, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The prices vary depending on the size of the seafood. Without crab or mantis shrimp, the dishes cost between 50 and 80 baht. However, the dishes we tried were 100 baht each.

Anyone who wants to come and try it, come on! If it's noon, there might be a lot of people.

And finally, in the evening, we stopped for a bite to eat in Rayong. Hi!!

Translation:

- Laem Mae Phim, Rayong. Ja Tha Restaurant. Guaranteed deliciousness. This restaurant gets a full score from me.

The meal consisted of crab fried rice, stir-fried seafood with chili paste, and deep-fried mackerel with fish sauce, totaling 820 baht. This price is considered normal for seafood restaurants located near the sea.

The taste is better than anything I've ever had before. The owner is very friendly and kind.

The sun sets over the horizon at Laem Mae Phim.

Laughter.
