The route from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao in November 2019 will use the Chod Na Road and Highway 1001.

Doi Mae Taman is located in the Mae Taman Watershed Management Unit, Mae Na Subdistrict, Chiang Dao District. When looking from the top of Doi Mae Taman, you will see the magnificent Doi Luang Chiang Dao on the opposite side. Once you arrive in Chiang Dao, turn to the San Pa Kia Highland Agricultural Station. The distance to the top of the mountain is about 18 kilometers, but the road is quite difficult with steep slopes, narrow roads, and mostly dirt and gravel. A pickup truck is recommended, or a motorcycle can also be convenient. The distance is 18 kilometers, but it takes more than an hour to drive up.^^

The roadside view is beautiful.

As I drove, I came across a red Garuda statue that served as a landmark. It was an old and unique sight.

The trail is lined with pine forests and "kia" forests, which are popular sources of firewood for people in the north. The air is filled with the fragrant scent of the forest. If you stay overnight, you'll be treated to stunning views of the sea of mist in the morning. During the rainy season, you can also witness breathtaking seas of clouds that are just as beautiful.

The journey takes approximately one hour to reach the destination.

The majestic Doi Luang Chiang Dao comes into view, offering stunning vistas. The summit boasts accommodations, including a campsite and bungalows. Camping fees are approximately 100 Baht, while bungalows range from 500 to 1,000 Baht. For inquiries, contact the Mae Ta Man Headwaters Management Unit. Kindly note that food is not available for purchase; it is recommended to bring your own provisions.

Each season offers a unique experience. During the rainy season, low-lying clouds create a picturesque scene, although travel may be challenging. In the winter, early mornings offer stunning views of a sea of fog, though it may have dissipated by the time you arrive. Nevertheless, the surrounding nature remains captivating and worth exploring.

The scenery in this area was captured near Ban San Pa Kia School. It's a turn off from the agricultural research station on the mountain. If you're heading up, bring some snacks to share with the students. It's a small school, but the view is worth a million baht every day. ^^

Breathe in the ozone to your heart's content!

Like walking on fluffy clouds :)

The mountaintop is always adorned with a vibrant array of flowers, especially during the winter season.

Flowers of various colors

The area features accommodation options, including houses and a central tent area.

If you're visiting Chiang Dao, be sure to stop by the delicious pork leg restaurant in the city center. They have a wide variety of side dishes and are easy to find. Personally, I like to eat at the original restaurant, Phornphen Khao Kha Moo Sueay. The pork leg is very tender and delicious, and there are many side dishes to choose from.

This concludes our brief trip review. If I have the opportunity to visit again, I will share more photos with you. :)
