On the day when

12:10 p.m.
What a quiet Sunday.
After finishing drying the clothes, I finally had time to lean back and rest on the sofa by the window, wondering…
Why is it so quiet?
Ah, I see. Because it's Chinese New Year, they went to Suphan Buri to gather with relatives, pay respects to sacred objects, and worship ancestors since Friday.
Weekends are for leisure, so people will continue to enjoy their time off.
Oh no!
And what about us? ... ?
(Who will feed the dog in the morning and evening if you leave?)
Ah, if you were still alive, we would be enjoying a delicious stir-fried chicken with a spicy seafood dipping sauce right now.
Mentioning my grandfather brings back memories of the old days when I was a child.
This is a phase of life where we can act without giving much consideration to "reason".
Your grandfather's house is located in Pak Kret, by the Chao Phraya River.
(Envy you, haha. Don't be jealous, because after my grandfather passed away, we moved out and no longer live by the river.)
From the balcony of your grandfather's house, you can see the leaning pagoda of Wat Parmaiyikawas on Koh Kret (it's amazing).
As the afternoon waned and a cool breeze began to blow, my grandfather would often take me to sit on the wooden balcony by the river at the top of the stairs.
We hopped onto our grandfather's lap and counted the passing boats: double-hulled boats, long-tailed boats, and sand barges.
As the sun begins to dip behind the coconut trees, time seems to slip away.
The grandfather pointed to a large flock of sparrows that were beginning to fly back to their nests.
The golden sunset reflects on the water's surface, shimmering and sparkling. It reminds me of my grandfather.
What was the feeling like at that time?
Is this "happiness"?
Is that all? Wow, really? It's been around us all this time?
Don't wait any longer. You still have half a day left. Come back and feed the dog on time.
I recall a riverside cafe that I saw in a review some time ago.
This restaurant was once an old house by the river.
I have been planning to go there for a long time, but I haven't had the chance yet.
Why wait? Let's spend the rest of the afternoon at this shop.
The car started and the GPS was turned on.
Search Google Maps for "A Lom Dee" coffee shop in Nonthaburi Province.
From there, we headed to the vegetable garden via Ratchaphruek Road.
Approximately 40 minutes from home to the vegetable garden area.
Venturing into a narrow alleyway, surprisingly deep, yet offering a glimpse into the atmosphere of a suburban community.
... Finally, we arrived at our destination, the "Ah Lom Dee" restaurant. Hooray!
The car was parked properly. When the door was opened, instead of the shop staff coming out to greet me,
The sound of an acoustic guitar from live music drifted from inside the shop.
(Wow, that's cool! I didn't know they had live music during the day.)
Follow the music to the indoor zone on your right.
The air-conditioned glass room extends from the parking lot to the waterfront.
Ideal for women who are afraid of the sun or on hot days ..... which is not today.
Proceed a little further, and a friendly-looking staff member will be waiting to greet you.
The table numbers here are not numbers, but Thai consonants from ก to ฮ. How cool is that?
Due to the sudden decision, I did not call to make a reservation in advance.
Today is our lucky day... the riverside counter is available! Oh, thank you Buddha!
I was seated at an outdoor counter bar by the river, which I believe offers the best view of the establishment.
Relaxing by the riverside, I picked up the menu to survey the food options.
The menu here features simple single-dish meals or snacks, such as burgers, french fries, and spaghetti.
The beverages offered are similar to those found in most coffee shops, including caffeinated options, decaffeinated options, and Italian sodas.
Uniquely, the restaurant offers a selection of house-created beverages. A quick glance at the drinks being served at neighboring tables reveals...
I don't know the name, but there's a huge cable on the glass. It looks good.
Today, I'm feeling a bit different. I don't want coffee. I'm craving something... refreshing.
After flipping through the menu for several rounds, the order was placed: Fettuccine with Onsen Egg, French Fries with Cheese, Garlic Bread with Cheese, and Plum Honey Lemon Soda.
(Are you hungry or not? Seriously.)
As the food caravan was being prepared, I had time to look around and take in the surroundings, starting from the left.
Ah, so this is the source of the guitar music. Notably, they are playing live in the afternoon, with the added ambiance of being right by the river.
Oh, so satisfying!
The experience evokes a similar "feeling" to when we were children, lying down listening to the sound of the river flowing by the balcony in front of our house.
Glancing slightly to the left, you'll see a long table in the center of the restaurant, where a large group of teenagers are engaged in lively conversation.
A few steps further, there are 3-4 sets of reclining chairs where you can lean back, listen to music, and enjoy the view of the river in front of you.
And what made me stunned for a moment was when I turned around.
The image in front of me ...... Oh my god!
This is what I've been looking for, a row of old wooden houses on the other side of the river.
The image of my grandfather sharpening bamboo to make a fishing rod on the balcony in front of the house.
Next door, two grandmothers are helping each other wash clothes at the pier.
The sound of a long-tailed boat in the distance from the left and slowly passing in front of me.
Everything is like a flashback in my head, picture by picture.
The image of a boy sitting on his grandfather's lap counting the long-tailed boats passing by that day, it became clear again.
The last sunlight of the day shines through the pillars of the shop, a sign that ……. I have to go back to feed the dog.
Who says being stuck in the past is a bad thing? I disagree with all my might.
I think it's okay with a small shop that makes us escape from the present.
And get lost in the past for a short time.
Sit and let your mind flow with the water without thinking about anything.
I think we don't need to try to find a reason for every action.
"Ah, Lam Dee" is another place that makes me feel that today is a day when emotions are above reason.
:D
