Indian cuisine has always seemed distant to me. I must confess that I had never considered trying Indian food because I imagined it to be difficult to eat and full of spices. I thought it wouldn't be delicious. However, I recently discovered an authentic Indian restaurant, Bawarchi Indian Restaurant, located in the heart of the city, under the Intercontinental Hotel at Chidlom.

Getting there is very easy. Just get off at the Chidlom BTS station and walk to the Intercontinental Hotel. The restaurant is located in the basement.

The restaurant's interior is decorated in an Indian style, with a color scheme that is very reminiscent of India. We arrived around 7 pm, and there were no other customers yet, as it is common for people in India to eat dinner late, around 3-4 pm. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. We started with appetizers, including Papadum Cones & Chutney, which are crispy, cone-shaped crackers served with four different sauces.

The sauce comes in four flavors: coconut yogurt, tamarind, beetroot chili, and mint. Personally, I prefer to eat the plain dough, which is delicious. I almost finished it all by myself, haha.

This is roasted cauliflower, known as Tandoori Gobi. They roast the cauliflower with spices, making it delicious and fragrant. When served, it comes with a lid, and when you open it, the aroma is overwhelming.

We haven't even reached the main course yet, haha! This dish is grilled fish with spices, called Tandoori Pomfret. The taste is a bit strange, but it's not bad.

Let's move on to the main course. There is a huge variety of food, which confirms the saying that Indian people enjoy lavish meals.

The staple food of the Indian people is naan. Naan is a type of flatbread that is seasoned with various spices. These are naan paprika and naan black olives. Naan must be eaten with curry, right? Today, we have a full curry for you.

Today's curry comes in 3 styles: Rogan Josh, a spicy lamb curry, Butter Chicken, a creamy chicken curry, and Sagg Paneer, a spinach and cheese curry. The Rogan Josh is a bit spicy, but the spices are well-balanced. The Butter Chicken is perfect for those who don't like lamb, and the Sagg Paneer is so good that I almost ate it all by myself.

Bawarchi offers a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes. The prices may be a bit high, and the flavors may be a bit strong for those who are not used to Indian food. However, if you want to experience Indian food without having to fly to Mumbai, this is the place to go. It's located at Chit Lom station, which is very easy to get to.
