"Kura Sushi" or "100-yen sushi"

Kura Sushi is a popular and affordable sushi restaurant chain with numerous locations throughout Japan. The branch we visited is conveniently located in the Umeda district, directly inside the Hotel Sunroute Umeda. This restaurant operates on a self-service basis, with staff primarily assisting with seating and payment. Notably, the staff at this particular branch had limited English proficiency.

Upon arrival, you must obtain a queue ticket from this machine. Seating is divided into two zones: a revolving sushi bar zone and a private table zone (we were unable to read the instructions, so we asked a staff member for assistance).

The restaurant lacked an English menu, which almost prevented us from ordering. Fortunately, a kind Japanese person helped us navigate the ordering process. We learned that we could either grab pre-made sushi with lids or order from an iPad. Our orders would be placed on red plates and announced on the iPad screen as they passed by. To pay, we pressed a red button on the bottom right corner of the screen and received a bill to pay at the counter.

Customers can choose items from the conveyor belt or order from the iPad screen.

After selecting the desired menu items, specify the quantity and confirm your order.

The cutting-edge system automatically opens the lid when you place your finger on the plate. (Please do not pry the lid open yourself.)

This sushi restaurant serves two pieces per plate, making it a carefree dining experience. "Every plate costs only 100 yen!" (approximately $0.75 USD). Free water and green tea are available, making it an ideal choice for budget-conscious travelers who still want to savor delicious Japanese cuisine.

Free water dispenser, but if you press beer, it will cost 500 yen.

Self-service complimentary green tea

A self-service station with complimentary green tea is available. Green tea powder is provided on the table, and hot water can be dispensed from the tap on the table.

Where else can you find sea urchin sushi for 30 baht? And it's fresh too!

Salmon sushi topped with cheese and a light drizzle of béarnaise sauce. If you try this bite, you'll definitely want more!

The scallop sushi was a bit small, but still delicious and worth the price.

Hokkaido milk ice cream sandwich, very fragrant and not too sweet. I recommend trying it!

Unlike other Kura Sushi branches, this branch does not offer the gachapon game after consuming five plates of sushi, as mentioned in reviews of other branches. During our visit, we did not observe any gachapon machines, which was slightly disappointing as we had planned to enjoy the game. Fortunately, the delicious sushi compensated for this absence, preventing us from feeling overly disappointed.
