Have you ever felt like life is just a monotonous cycle of waking up, working, eating, going home, sleeping, and repeating? It can get incredibly boring. So, how do we break the cycle? Well, weekends are for more than just sleeping at home. Let's go out and have some fun! But the question is, where should we go?...
Where to Escape the City: A Culinary and Coastal Getaway in Rayong
Seeking a respite from the bustling city life? Look no further than Rayong, a coastal haven just a short distance from Bangkok. Renowned for its pristine beaches, delectable cuisine, and abundance of seasonal fruits, Rayong offers the perfect escape for those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation.
Inspired by the enticing photos of durian flooding our social media feeds, we embarked on a journey to this tropical paradise. Our destination: the Rayong Marriott Resort and Spa, a luxurious 5-star haven touted as the finest in the province. With promises of exquisite dining experiences, we couldn't resist the allure of this culinary and coastal retreat.
And so, they set off on their journey to relax.
We have arrived! After checking in, we started exploring the hotel. It's a large and beautiful hotel with many stunning photo spots. Make sure to bring plenty of memory for your camera! There are two swimming pools, this one is smaller but more peaceful. Perfect for relaxing and chilling out.
This large pool features a water slide and tends to be more lively and spacious. It is mainly used by families with children who come to play in the water. There is also an aquarium with baby sharks for children to observe. Additionally, there are other activities available, such as a kids' club, a golf course, and a spa.
The hotel is situated directly on the beachfront, offering stunning views and easy access to the water. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities, including kayaking, which the hotel provides. Alternatively, they can take a leisurely stroll along the beach and capture beautiful photos. A charming swing is also available for those who wish to relax and soak in the scenery.
After exploring the hotel for a while, I started to feel hungry. Initially, I considered venturing out to find something to eat outside the hotel. However, after reading reviews that praised the hotel's delicious food, and with my hunger pangs becoming unbearable, I decided to give it a try. So, I headed to the C-Salt cafe to see what it had to offer.
The staff recommended the "Mangosteen Salad" as it is only available during this season and I had never tried it before. It was delicious and I highly recommend it. The other dishes I ordered were also delicious, including the "Stir-fried Basil Pork Pizza," which has an intriguing name.
In summary, I was quite impressed with the food at this establishment. I found it to be both delicious and innovative.
After finishing the meal, I returned to my room to rest for a while. The room I stayed in was a Deluxe Ocean View, offering a breathtaking view of the ocean from the comfort of my room.
Spacious Room with a Luxurious Touch
The room was incredibly spacious, and my favorite feature was the bathtub. It had a see-through design that opened directly into the bedroom, creating a unique and luxurious ambiance. Additionally, the bathroom amenities were all from the THANN brand, showcasing the hotel's meticulous attention to detail. They provided everything imaginable, even a hair tie, which I've never encountered in any other hotel.
After relaxing by the pool for a while, it was time for dinner. We had booked a table at the hotel's Fish Bar, a restaurant located next to the pool and the sea with a beautiful atmosphere.
The restaurant's signature dish, the Rayong Seafood Basket, is a must-try. This basket features the freshest seafood, delivered daily, ensuring the succulent sweetness of the prawns. Other recommended dishes include the crab curry with betel leaves and the prawns stir-fried in tamarind sauce, both of which are equally delicious. The generous portions and the high quality of the ingredients make this restaurant highly recommended.
The spa was already closed when we arrived, despite having booked it in advance. We were disappointed to miss out on the experience, as we had heard great things about it. Instead, we relaxed in our room, soaking in the bath and enjoying the comfortable beds. We had a peaceful night's sleep.
This morning, we had breakfast at the C-salt restaurant as usual, but this time it was a buffet. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and there were rumors about how good it was, so we couldn't miss it.
The hotel offers a wide variety of food options, with a particular emphasis on fresh fruit juices. Unlike other hotels that serve pre-made juices, this hotel provides guests with the opportunity to witness the juicing process firsthand, choosing from a diverse selection of fruits. This emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients aligns perfectly with the region's reputation as a fruit-growing hub.
The breakfast room was packed with tourists, with almost every table full. However, the food was constantly replenished, ensuring that there was always enough for everyone. This was a very impressive aspect of the experience.
After finishing the meal, we played water again and took photos in the hotel. Then, we packed our belongings and prepared to check out.
And so it's time to say goodbye to this place.
In summary, I was impressed with the hotel. It had everything I needed and more, so I didn't have to leave the premises. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Rayong offers a plethora of tourist attractions. However, seeking a respite from the monotony of work, we opted for a laid-back experience. This location perfectly met our needs. On our return trip, we made a stop at Thung Prang Thong, but we'll save that review for another time, as it might get a bit lengthy. Until then, farewell, and stay tuned for our next review!
