What constitutes your ideal dinner? In my opinion, it should include delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere, and most importantly, delightful company. By "delightful company," I mean someone special who brings joy to our lives. When these three elements come together, it creates the perfect dinner.

Recently, I had the opportunity to dine with my partner at The Square restaurant in the Novotel Bangkok Platinum Hotel in Pratunam. The restaurant is located on the 6th floor, which is the lobby level for check-in. However, non-hotel guests are also welcome to dine at the restaurant.

The Square Restaurant: A Seafood Paradise

Upon exiting the elevator, guests are greeted by The Square Restaurant, a seafood buffet paradise. Open from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Sundays through Thursdays, the buffet offers a wide variety of fresh seafood for 1,199++ Baht. This price includes unlimited soft drinks, hot tea or coffee, and no time limit for dining. (Please note that a different buffet line operates on Fridays and Saturdays, which will not be discussed here to avoid confusion.)

Upon entering, choose your preferred seating. The ambiance is excellent. You can opt for a seat by the window to enjoy the cityscape.

The food court is a well-organized zone with a wide variety of options. Fresh seafood, barbecue, Japanese cuisine, rice balls, raw fish, yakisoba, stir-fries, and various Thai dishes are available. Hot dishes are rotated daily, and Isaan cuisine is also represented with papaya salad, waterfalls, and roasted duck, red pork, and crispy pork. European-style food is also plentiful, with a salad bar, a wide selection of desserts, and fresh, chilled fruits. In short, the food court offers a comprehensive and diverse culinary experience.

Let's take a closer look. The river prawns and New Zealand mussels are plentiful, while salmon lovers will be delighted. There are raw, smoked, and marinated options to choose from.




This is a seafood tom yum. If you would like to add anything special, please inform the chef immediately. Alternatively, you could try adding noodles to make a luxurious version of tom yum mama.



At the Line BBQ, skewers are ready with a variety of meats, including beef, pork, chicken, fish, squid, and shrimp. Simply choose your desired ingredients and have the chef prepare them for you.




The daily menu features a rotating selection of hot dishes. For European food lovers, don't miss the freshly baked pizzas from the oven. As always, you can request your desired toppings from the chef.



My favorite dish is the black spaghetti with dried chili, bacon, and sausage. This restaurant offers a wide variety of spaghetti and pasta options. You can tell the chef what you want to add, and they will make it for you. Another dish I enjoyed was the pasta with bacon and a light sprinkle of cheese.



And for those who crave familiar flavors, papaya salad, waterfall pork, grilled pork neck, and various spicy salads are available.



The highlight of the presentation was the Japanese cuisine, which featured a wide variety of sashimi, sushi, and rolls with various toppings. The sight of the fresh seafood, including shrimp roe and octopus, was enough to make one's mouth water. The chefs were also able to design special dishes or arrange plates according to our preferences.

Savoring every detail before them, as I mentioned before, when all the elements come together - delicious food, a delightful atmosphere, and pleasant company - it's the ultimate happiness.

After a savory meal, indulging in something sweet is a delightful tradition in Thailand. The dessert selection is truly impressive, offering a variety of options from traditional Thai treats like candied coconut and jelly to Western-style cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, and mousses.
