Pun recently had the opportunity to visit a place located in Kanchanaburi Province.

It is a retro tourist destination in Thailand, like stepping into another era in the blink of an eye.

This place is called "Mulika Town R.S. 124".

It is considered a new tourist attraction that Thai people should not miss. It will take you back in time to the reign of King Rama V. There are replicas of houses, lifestyles, shops, and food. You can even dress up in the style of that era.

Mulika Town is a retro town of the Siamese way of life in the Chao Phraya River basin during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V. The way of life of the Siamese people in the R.S. 124 era changed dramatically in many ways. The most notable was the abolition of slavery. When slaves were freed, they had to live and work on their own. They were no longer under the control or care of the nobility. They had to survive, rely on themselves, and live with all groups of Siamese people. This change in lifestyle is a major root of the Thai people in the present era.

Upon arrival, we purchased admission tickets.

Upon entering the city, you will be greeted by a colossal city wall, reminiscent of those depicted in classic Thai films. Horse-drawn carriages await at the city gate, offering rides for a mere 50 baht. Take a leisurely carriage ride through the city and immerse yourself in its charm.

Villagers pulling carts are dressed in traditional clothing, creating an authentic atmosphere even before entering the city.

Before entering the city gate, there is a red door on the right-hand side. Inside is a coffee shop where you can enjoy a refreshing drink and learn about the city's history before exploring further.

Now that we have heard the story and history, let's go for a walk around the city.

Numerous shops from that era were open for business.

However, before making a purchase, one needed money. Back then, they used **satang coins**, which were the currency of the time. (The exchange rate was 5 baht to 1 satang. Coins were available in denominations of 1, 2, 5, and 10 satang.)

Money exchange booths are conveniently located throughout the market, from the entrance to the inner market.

A plethora of souvenirs awaits your exploration. Do come and have a look. This is a popular phrase in this town. It sounds so pleasant, as if we have truly traveled back in time. They are all so adorable.

After a satisfying meal, we embarked on a leisurely stroll through the town, immersing ourselves in the local culture and observing the daily routines of its inhabitants.

In the past, mailboxes were called "book drop boxes" and they actually worked. Haha! Oh, my!

This section showcases the kitchen, where the culinary journey begins with the traditional process of rice milling.

At the end of the path, you will find traditional Thai children's toys, such as the banana stalk horse and the coconut shell walker.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with fragrant Dok Mali flowers.

After exploring the city, it's time to enjoy dinner and a show.

Evening menu .. Appetizer: Crispy rice crackers with spicy pork dip

Coconut milk taro curry, Yam offering, Chicken massaman curry, Chili paste with roasted eggplant, Crispy ancient noodles

The trip concluded with incredibly sweet and juicy fresh fruits.

This was my first visit, and I returned with a wealth of knowledge and entertainment. It would have been much more enjoyable if the entire family had been present.
