Comes with a riverside atmosphere on the old town walking street
Like...Chiang Khan@Loei That สายถ่าย สายชิว Don't miss it
Let me tell you...it's a little bit cool
Activities
- Stroll, shop, and savor the sights and smells of the walking street. Don't forget to try the grilled shrimp skewers!
- Participate in the morning sticky rice alms offering.
- Cycle along the Mekong River and enjoy the scenic views.
- Capture photos and check in at iconic landmarks.
Essential Expenses
- Roundtrip private car travel expenses: 1,500 baht (my car uses LPG, approximately 1,250 km)
- Accommodation for 2 people: 600 baht
- Bicycle rental: 50 baht
- Morning sticky rice alms offering: 50 baht
Introduction
- The journey from Bangkok to Chiang Khan is approximately 600 kilometers and takes a considerable amount of time. The ideal departure time is 5:00 AM, arriving around 2:00 PM (driving steadily with breaks as needed).
- While the distance may appear shorter than Bangkok to Chiang Mai, the drive to Chiang Khan is more tiring. Having a companion to share the driving is highly recommended.
- For those without personal transportation, buses are available.
- Accommodation options range from budget-friendly to luxurious. Personally, I have found comfortable rooms along the Mekong River for 600 baht per night.
- Some accommodations include breakfast, while others do not. In the latter case, a variety of breakfast options are readily available on the morning walking street, including fried eggs, coffee, porridge, rice soup, and toast.
- Don't miss the opportunity to try the 10-baht shrimp skewers!
