Visit "Phu Thap Boek during the rainy season" Warning.. The sea of fog.. It's a bit exciting ^^

Whenever the rainy season arrives, many people don't want to go anywhere and just want to stay in their cozy beds at home, right? But for us, Travelers, we don't think so. Because the rainy season is perfect for enjoying nature! Especially if you want to see the sea of fog in all its glory, the rainy season is the time to go.

This trip, we're going to enjoy the sea of fog at Phu Thap Boek. (Actually, before coming to Phu Thap Boek, we spent one night in Chiang Khan. Join us on our trip to Chiang Khan at this link goo.gl/eujeNJ ) Getting to Phu Thap Boek isn't too difficult, it's only about 400 kilometers from Bangkok. The road up to Phu Thap Boek is in good condition, but you need to be careful because there are a lot of curves and fog all along the way. There are many places to stay at Phu Thap Boek, but you might need to book in advance because there are a lot of tourists. For adventurous people like us, we camped out as usual. There are many private campsites to choose from. We chose to camp at "Rim Pha" Phu Thap Boek. This place is right next to a cliff, so we can enjoy the sea of fog to the fullest. As for food, there are many local restaurants to choose from on Phu Thap Boek, including barbecue (which you can order to be delivered to your tent), cooked-to-order dishes, baked potatoes, boiled eggs, and don't miss the fresh vegetables, especially cabbage and baby carrots, that the villagers sell along the road. I have to say, it's cheap and very fresh! For those who want to enjoy the sea of fog in all its glory, come to Phu Thap Boek during the rainy season. You won't be disappointed, just like in the winter.

Estimated Expenses

  • Travel expenses: approximately 1000 baht (my car uses LPG)
  • Camping fee: 80 baht per person (if you bring your own tent)
  • Large barbecue set: 500 baht (for 3-4 people)

Tips

  • Don't miss the opportunity to have a barbecue at Khao Kho. Trust me, you won't regret it. (I didn't take any pictures because I was too busy enjoying it.)
  • Wondering if there will be fog in the morning? Statistically speaking, if it rains, there will definitely be fog. (That's why I said the rainy season is the best time to see fog.)
  • If you plan to visit Khao Kho during the rainy season, make sure to bring a waterproof tarp to cover your tent.
  • Eco cars can easily make the climb. You may want to turn off the air conditioning and open the windows during the ascent for better power and to enjoy the fresh air.
  • Check your car's condition, especially the brakes, before you go, as the road has steep curves and descents.
