Every first Friday night of the month, Manhattan Bar, located on the 2nd floor of the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, hosts a special event called "All You Can Eat and Drink" for 3 hours from 6 pm to 9 pm at a price of 699++ Baht. To keep things fresh, the theme of the event changes every month. In this review, the theme is "Studio 54 at Manhattan Bar: 'Throwback to Studio 54'", which transforms the bar into a legendary New York nightclub. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, making it a great place to unwind after work with a partner, friends, or even solo. There's also a dance floor to show off your moves. The food is served as bite-sized canapés, prepared fresh by the chef throughout the 3-hour event. (Arranged in a clockwise order starting from the top left)
– ‘Davils on Horseback’: Bacon-wrapped prunes, offering a distinct bacon aroma and chewy sweetness from the prunes. – ‘Nut Snack’: A variety of nuts for snacking, a classic choice. – ‘Mini Potato skins stuffed with bacon, cheese and truffle’: Sweet and tender potato skins with a flavorful filling, creating a delightful textural contrast. – ‘Devilled Egg’: Quail eggs with smooth, creamy yolks, seasoned to perfection. – ‘Parma Ham & Melon’: Thinly sliced Parma ham with a rich flavor, paired with juicy melon. – ‘Swedish Meat Balls’: Coarsely ground meatballs offering a satisfying chew and a pronounced meaty aroma, complemented by a rich and flavorful sauce reminiscent of gravy. – ‘Rice crackers + Chili paste’: A familiar Thai appetizer. – ‘Duck ala Orange’: Smoked duck slices with a subtle orange flavor, light and refreshing. – ‘Pan Fried egg dipped ham, turkey, Swiss cheese Sandwich’: A sandwich with a crispy bread exterior and a flavorful, savory filling with a prominent salty note. **The menu is subject to change.**

Two main bar areas are available, eliminating overcrowding issues.


The all-you-can-drink beverage menu includes Lazo Chardonnay (Central Valley, Chile) white wine, Lazo Cabernet Sauvignon (Central Valley, Chile) red wine, small bottles of Singha beer, and five specialty cocktails that change with each event.

1. 'The Purple Drop': This cocktail combines Beefeater Gin with Triple Sec, butterfly pea flower water, and lemon juice. It's the lightest of the bunch, with a subtle sourness and a refreshing finish.

2. 'Green Earth': A refreshing blend of Absolute Vodka, Crème de menthe Green, mint leaves, lime juice, and simple syrup. This cocktail offers a slightly more tart and intense flavor profile compared to the first, with a prominent mint aroma.

3. 'Deep Blue Sea': A potent blend of Havana Gold Rum, Blue Curacao, pineapple juice, and lime juice, resulting in a strong and tart flavor profile.

4. ‘Dark Night’ : This cocktail features a distinct aroma and flavor profile achieved by using Cold Pressed Thai Kopi, blended with Chivas Extra Whiskey, Campari, Sweet Bermounth, and Bitter Truth Orange Bitters. Despite the prominent coffee notes, the complexity of the flavors remains evident, creating a robust and intense drinking experience.

5. "Agave Sour Saver": The final drink is the strongest but the easiest to drink. It uses Olmeca Gold Tequila mixed with Triple Sec, lime juice, and Angostura Bitters. This one is truly easy to drink.


A relaxed and friendly atmosphere prevailed, offering a welcome respite after a tiring month.

The bar boasts a beautiful and sophisticated ambiance, yet it maintains a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The seating is spread out in various areas, offering ample space for guests. The service is excellent, and the food is served in bite-sized portions, making it easy to enjoy. The ingredients are of high quality, and the flavors are bold and authentic. The continuous flow of food is impressive, ensuring that guests are never left wanting. The cocktail menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of options with varying levels of intensity and flavor. Each drink is well-balanced and smooth, without any harshness. The presentation of the drinks is equally impressive, with a generous amount of alcohol served. Considering the price of 699++ baht for all of this, it is no wonder that reservations are required. The next event will be held on August 4, 2017, with a theme of Chinatown – 1930s Shanghai. I believe that the best way to experience the value of this event is to try it for yourself. After all, three regular drinks at the Marriott would already exceed the price.
