Our journey begins at:

  • Huai Nam Thap Temple (Phra That Wayo Temple)
  • Wat Kaew Phetchaburi Museum
  • Wang Bon Reservoir
  • Khao E-To Waterfall Forest Park
  • Pha Hin Son (Stacked Rocks)
  • Firefly watching at Khao Phrom Yothi Camp

However, the main goal of this trip is kayaking.

This location also offers camping in addition to kayaking.

Before reaching our final destination,

we make a detour to Huai Nam Thap Temple (Phra That Wayo Temple),

a royal monastery hidden within the rubber plantations of Chachoengsao province.

The temple's most notable feature is the Phra Maha That Chedi, a bell-shaped stupa adorned with yellow, blue, and white glass, standing 50 meters tall.

It houses the sacred relics of the Lord Buddha.

The entrance is guarded by golden nagas on all sides of the stairs.

Inside the Great Stupa,

Golden hues adorn every corner.

In addition to paying homage to the Buddha's relics, tourists can also enjoy panoramic views, including the Lad Krating Reservoir in the distance.

On the second and third floors inside the pagoda

Surrounded by lush greenery,

to capture the entire pagoda in a single frame,

one must stand back at this rear viharn.

Next, we will visit Wat Kaew Phetchaburi in Prachin Buri Province.

Next to the temple is the Wat Kaeo Phichit Museum.

Inside, it houses ancient artifacts collected by villagers.

It is a rectangular building with a dome on top. Inside the museum, there are many interesting things,

such as the King's signature on a stone tablet.

Ancient Buddha statue

Artifacts from the past, including models of community life, statues of important figures, and Buddha statues.

The building appeared antiquated, deterring any potential visitors. The second floor featured a dilapidated wooden staircase that seemed on the verge of collapse, prompting us to forgo ascending. The ground floor exuded a somewhat eerie atmosphere.

The temple's surroundings reveal intricate details of the ordination hall, showcasing a unique blend of architectural styles and interior decorations. Influences from Thai, Chinese, European, and Khmer art harmoniously converge, creating a visually stunning and captivating spectacle.

This reminds us of the same artistic style as the Chao Phraya Abhaiphubejhr Hospital.

In brief, the history of this place is related to Chao Phraya Abhaiphubejhr.

According to a stone inscription within the temple grounds, Wat Kaew Phichit was built in 1879 during the reign of King Rama V. Nang Pramul Phokha (Kaew Prasangsit) built Wat Kaew Phichit on an area of 12 rai, 2 ngan, and 78 square wa. Later, Chao Phraya Abhaiphubejhr built the Pali Dhamma Vinaya and Book School in 1911 and in 1918, he built another Ubosot and a principal Buddha image.

The principal Buddha statue is unlike those found in other temples.

We discovered that

This Buddha statue was designed by His Royal Highness Prince Damrong Rajanubhab and presented to Chao Phraya Abhaiphuebet (Chum Abhaiwong) for construction in 1921. It is a Buddha statue in the diamond cross-legged posture, with both hands raised to the level of the waist. The right hand is turned outward in the gesture of granting forgiveness, while the left hand is turned upward and placed on the lap. The robe is draped in a realistic manner. The fact that this Buddha statue displays the gesture of granting forgiveness is likely to be consistent with the surname of the builder, Abhaiwong, which means "forgiveness lineage."

There are Greek-style columns with Corinthian capitals on the exterior.

The Architectural Fusion of Wat Kaew Phetchaburi's Ubosot

The Ubosot of Wat Kaew Phetchaburi stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of diverse artistic influences. This concrete structure incorporates elements from:

  • Thai art: The Ubosot's layout, intricate finials, and decorative motifs like the "chofa," "bai raka," and "hang hong" reflect traditional Thai architectural elements.
  • Chinese art: The presence of green dragon statues on the gable, dragon-patterned roof tiles, and balustrades on the Ubosot's staircase showcase Chinese artistic influences.
  • Western art: The Ubosot features Corinthian columns, a dome-shaped roof on the Pali Dhamma school building, and paintings of foreigners encircling the underside of the outer roof, demonstrating Western artistic influences.
  • Khmer art: The Ubosot's roof design, surrounding wall, and arched entrance gate exhibit influences from Khmer architecture.

This unique fusion of artistic styles creates a visually stunning and culturally rich architectural masterpiece.

The outer walls are decorated with stucco figures from the Ramayana epic.

In addition to admiring the architectural beauty of this temple,

the stories depicted also add to its cultural significance.

Next, we headed to the **Wang Bon Reservoir**, located on the same road as the Khao Yai National Park entrance on the Prachin Buri side.

Before reaching the park entrance fee booth,

turn left.

However, as we visited on a holiday,

Some areas are filled with tents.

The time to turn back has passed.

Find a place to mark the end of the road.

Then change your clothes and prepare to fight.

Get in the kayak.

Kayak rental for 50 baht per hour.

Without hesitation,

We paddled out to the vast expanse of water.

Paddling to the waterfall, there are several waterfalls.

The point seen in the picture looks like the water is not strong.

But when you get closer

The boat sways with the force of the water.

Wind, water spray splashing

Shows the power of the water coming from above

Even though I'm wearing a life jacket

It looks challenging, but at the same time it's scary.

There are multiple viewpoints to admire the waterfall.

This particular viewpoint offers the most water.

The other viewpoints offer varying amounts of water.

Gently drifting along,

Vast expanse of water and serene silence, just us,

Floating amidst the embrace of nature,

As the evening sets in, it's time to create culinary delights.

Taking a morning stroll

Some people are packing their belongings,

some are preparing breakfast,

and some are still sleeping soundly in their tents.

As for us, we are taking our time,

walking leisurely and enjoying the refreshing nature.

It's time for breakfast. Get ready to pack your things and continue our journey.

We will stop at Khao E-To Waterfall Forest Park.

Nearby Attractions

There are many interesting places nearby, such as the Jakrapong Reservoir, Khao Ito Waterfall, Sai Thong Waterfall, and the Neen Pisuang. Within the park, there is a tourist service center and a camping area for tourists who want to relax. There is a walking path to the viewpoint "Pha Hin Son".

Many cyclists come here to cycle up Khao Ito.
Along the way, there are pavilions for resting.

End the evening by watching fireflies at Phrom Yothi Camp.
The period I went was the time when fireflies came out to find mates.
Those who want to go should check the information before traveling.
There are a lot of people.
There are also a lot of fireflies.
The pictures I took were of fireflies flying past us.
As for those scattered in the forest,
they were seen as small lights, so I couldn't take pictures of them.
The moon was bright when I went to see it.
So that's all I got.

The only thing left is the beautiful memory.

To be honest, this place is less exciting than seeing fireflies in Amphawa.

Even though there are more fireflies here than in Amphawa, it might be because there are a lot of people, a lot of people.

Some people try to take pictures with their mobile phones.

Sometimes the flash can be disturbing.

Even after setting up the camera for a few minutes,

you can only see dots as lines in the darkness.

But this is a large firefly kingdom in a forest park by the road.

It is so fertile that it is home to hundreds and thousands of fireflies.

It is impressive.

I didn't expect to get any pictures back this time.

But I expect to sit and watch the fireflies come out and spread all over the forest.

Amidst the darkness and silence.

This is the most amazing place.
