Hua Hin boasts a plethora of luxury hotels, each vying for attention with unique and unconventional designs. Among them, the Intercontinental stands out with its vintage wooden architecture, reminiscent of the Colonial era, specifically the pre-World War I period, corresponding to the reigns of King Rama V and King Rama VI. During this time, Hua Hin was a popular summer retreat for Bangkok's elite, who built numerous vacation homes in the area.
Many people have stayed at the original Intercontinental on the beachfront and have reviewed it extensively. However, last year the hotel expanded its accommodation to the opposite side, called the Bluport Wing, to accommodate the luxury shopping mall of the Mall Group called Bluport. The exterior of the Bluport Wing is quite different from the original side, reverting to a more typical hotel style, but the interior design still retains the atmosphere of a retro resort. Today, we will take you to see the rooms on the Bluport side, which are slightly cheaper than the old side, but they fill up very quickly. Let's go and have a look.
After visiting the temple in Ban Krut, it was already dark when I drove back to Hua Hin. You can park your car at the Blueport side, no need to park at the original side. However, there are fewer parking spaces on this side, but it's better for car lovers who don't have to use valet parking like the other side. I went there a week after the Mother's Day long weekend, so Hua Hin was less crowded. Most of the guests at Intercon were tourists, so even though there were fewer parking spaces, it wasn't difficult to find a spot. As soon as I got out of the car, I couldn't help but take a picture of the vintage Mercedes, but this one was white and had a fancy license plate.
The lobby check-in area is decorated in a simple style, without the emphasis on blue color as seen on the opposite side. It may be slightly smaller, but it is still beautiful. The check-in system here is fast. The staff who checked us in, who also seemed to be our butlers, then took us to our room. Let's take a look at the room. The room I stayed in was the cheapest option, a standard deluxe room. However, even the standard room here is far from ordinary. Let's take a look. (If I hadn't received a tax break, I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it. Y_Y)
The most affordable room is also the smallest, but it is not cramped despite being slightly smaller than the room across the hall. It maintains the same white and blue color scheme, giving it a resort-like feel. In contrast, the room across the hall is slightly larger and has engineered wood flooring, which feels like walking barefoot at home. The Blue room, on the other hand, has synthetic stone flooring, which gives it a more hotel-like feel. However, both rooms are fully equipped with the same amenities and have large, comfortable beds that feel like sinking into a marshmallow.
The highlight of the room is the bathroom, which is almost half the size of the room. The bathtub in the middle of the room allows you to relax and watch movies while soaking in the water. It is an open-plan sexy bathroom, but if you are shy with friends, there is a sliding door that can be closed to make it a private bathroom. The bathroom is equipped with complete amenities and is replenished daily with L'Occitane products. The bathroom is separated into a dry and wet area with a rainshower.
InterContinental's Butler Service
While InterContinental offers butler service, I never felt comfortable using it. Perhaps it was due to my IHG membership status, but the hotel knew it was my birthday and sent a delicious chocolate cake for me to enjoy. In the evening, the butler would turn down the covers and prepare warm bathwater if requested.
Let's take a walk around the hotel's exterior. It's incredibly cool in the air-conditioned room. Even after turning off the air conditioning, it stays cool all night until morning.
Alternating with daytime shots, several ideas include a garden behind the hotel with activities and a koi pond.
The Blueport Wing offers convenient access to the Bluport shopping mall, with a direct connection from the hotel lobby. This convenience is particularly appealing to Chinese tourists, who often prefer this wing. As a result, rooms in the Blueport Wing tend to fill up faster than those in the original wing.
Since we're already here, let's take a look at the original side. It might be a bit difficult because we have to cross the overpass. If you're with your elderly parents who don't like shopping, it might be better to stay on the original side.
The other side is white, this side must be black. It's like yin and yang. Let's go inside and see. The other side is 8800, this side is 9999.
Let's take a morning stroll along Hua Hin Beach before checking out the breakfast options.
Breakfast is served at two different locations, depending on which side of the resort you are staying on. We stayed on the Bluport side for two nights, which meant we got to enjoy breakfast from the restaurants on both sides. The Bluport side has a smaller restaurant with a more limited selection of food than the original side, but it also feels more private. The restaurant is located on the first floor, the same floor as the swimming pool.
Let's take a look at the breakfast line on the original side at the Phirom Restaurant.
This comprehensive review provides all the information you need to enjoy a comfortable stay at a hotel in Hua Hin. The review concludes with a classic photo of the hotel. Stay tuned for the next review, where we will explore tourist attractions. Additionally, guests staying at the InterContinental during this period receive complimentary access to the Vana Nava Water Park for two people. In the next review, we will take a closer look at the water park's attractions. Thank you. You can find more of my reviews on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thetravelbagstory/.
