The body needs to indulge in nature.
I went to find a trip in a travel group... hey!! There's a trip to Khao Luang Sukhothai, but I've never been to Sukhothai before.
Researching how to get to Sukhothai, as the group we're joining has gathered from Bangkok.
Once we knew we would be taking a bus from 'Sukhothai Win Tour', we contacted the trip organizer to discuss cost-sharing.
We agreed to take a car from Chiang Rai to Sukhothai ourselves.
At first, a friend was going to go with me, but in the end, they couldn't make it. So I went alone. What are you waiting for?
Let's begin our journey...
Before setting off, check Google Maps to estimate the driving time. According to the map, the journey should take 6-7 hours.
There are morning buses at 5:40 AM and 9:00 AM. We chose the 9:00 AM bus. The bus fare from Mae Sai to Sukhothai is 262 baht.
The plan is to arrive in Sukhothai around 3 or 4 pm. Wow! The car has been driving for 10 hours.
Arriving in Sukhothai around 7 pm, the plan to explore the city was dashed.
Fortunately, I found accommodation right next to the bus station, so I stayed there for one night for 150 baht. It was a fan room, and it was very hot, as expected.
At approximately 4:00 AM, we woke up to prepare for the arrival of the group from Bangkok. They would pick us up at our accommodation.
First, find a place to eat to replenish your energy and stop by the market to buy a packed lunch for lunch.
...Khao Luang Sukhothai is located in Ramkhamhaeng Sukhothai National Park. The park entrance fee is 40 baht per person.
After a short journey, we arrived at Ramkhamhaeng National Park...
He mentioned that the distance is only 3.7 kilometers… Easy, just this much.
Upon arrival, I took only the essentials with me, leaving the rest in the car.
3.7 kilometers! But look at the path, it's all uphill... I'm going to need a moment to wipe the sweat off my brow.
We have arrived and it's time to explore. We brought a foreign friend along and paid an entrance fee of approximately 500 baht to the national park.
Let's take a few photos together... everyone still looks good! ^^
The path to the summit... beckons us... let's see if we can make it?
After walking for a while, you will come across a large log... is this the symbol of Khao Luang?
The period of my visit marked the transition from late rainy season to early winter. Rain showers were intermittent, but the weather was not yet excessively cold.
There is a drinking water refill station... but I don't know if it's good because I didn't use it. I brought a 1.5 liter bottle of water instead.
…We've reached this point… It's not really far, but damn… I'm exhausted…
However, our foreign friend who came with us was full of energy... We and another friend were planning to rest for a while.
Feeling pressured to recover from fatigue and continue moving forward.
The porters here charge 25 baht per kilogram.
I would like to take a leisurely stroll, but my foreign friend is constantly pressuring me.
We were about to take a photo when our friend saw us disappear.
Oh no! He ran down the stairs with a panicked expression, shouting loudly.
"You OK" .... "Sure, OK" but deep down I want to say I'm exhausted. >.<
Hooray! We can finally rest for a while. Let's take off our backpacks and lie down to relax.
How far have we walked? I'm exhausted from all this uphill climbing.
Feeling refreshed, I continued my journey, wondering when I would finally reach my destination.
Upon encountering a passerby, I immediately inquired about the proximity of my destination.
"Not yet, it's still a long way off." Oh, I'm so disappointed.
Let's take a walk and enjoy the nature.
We agreed to have lunch under the beautiful tree.
And then the three of us arrived at the beautiful banyan tree... the first stop for lunch...
However, it's not accurate at all. Let's just eat it then, so we can lighten our wallets a little more.
About to sit down for a meal when suddenly, the rain starts pouring! Each person grabs a raincoat and we continue to eat under the falling rain.
The atmosphere was truly amazing. The three of us sat here for a long time before another friend from our group showed up.
We are nearing our destination from this magnificent banyan tree...
Hang in there, we'll continue soon.
Finally... the end of the tough people... yay! I want to lie down.
I'd love a cold Pepsi, or maybe a Sponsor. There's a shop up there that sells drinks, but they're not cold because they only start their generator at 6 pm.
"This will help ease the fatigue… This cup is 35 baht…"
The dog in the back is named Pancake. Welcome! 🐶
This night, we will sleep in a sardine tent, packed like sardines.
If it rains, everyone is on their own… and it really did rain. We had to huddle together as much as possible. I felt sorry for the person next to me who was getting rained on.
3 p.m. Ready to travel another 2 km. to watch the sunset.
The journey was interrupted by rain, obscuring the view below with a veil of raindrops and mist. However, the air remained refreshingly pleasant.
We forgot to bring a raincoat, only a blanket. On the way back, we were soaked to the bone.
I only brought one shirt... luckily, I also brought a thin sweater, which helped me survive.
Mount Phu Ga is up ahead... Even though the rain is coming, we are not afraid.
They attempted to watch the sunset, but in the end, they were unsuccessful. It seems the sun was shy of them.
The sky began to darken, and it looked like it was going to rain heavily. So I had to hurry back to my accommodation, take a shower, and eat dinner.
Our dinner was delicious, plentiful, and full of laughter and joy.
Around 10 pm, it's time to hit the hay... Tired, I'm going to sleep ZZZzzzZ
We woke up around 5:00 AM today to watch the sunrise at Pha Narai. We hope to see the sea of mist, but we're not sure if we will be able to.
Last night, there was both wind and rain. The person sleeping next to me in the tent must have had a rough night, as the rain was pouring heavily.
The ascent is very slippery and steep... some people have measured the ground several times...
...In the end, we didn't see the sunrise...The fog was too heavy...We didn't see the sea of fog either.
We will not return to the past to make amends. We will not retrace our steps, but instead, we will forge ahead and seek new destinations.
After not seeing anything, they went back down to eat lunch. Their friends prepared to visit Wat Si Chum in Sukhothai city.
Farewell, Sukhothai, the land of kings...
And so, we became conquerors of the majestic Khao Luang Sukhothai.
No need to ask how I'm doing. Let's hurry and take a shower, then head to Wat Si Chum.
Fortunately, during our trekking trip organized by Pop, we had the chance to visit Wat Si Chum. The temple's magnificence and grandeur left a lasting impression. Despite this, I am determined to return to Sukhothai's ancient city. The beauty of just one temple is enough to entice me to explore the numerous others that remain.
After that, everyone went to the Phitsanulok Transportation Center to find a ride back to Mae Sai.
We arrived home at 1 am...
...Thank you for the great trip, great organizers, great... fellow travelers, great great...
