Bhong Piang Forest, Terraced Rice Fields... Stairway to Happiness

Cottage : Mountain : Rain : Rice Field : Mist

Sometimes I think to myself, "Really?"

Why do we need to embark on a journey, escaping the comfortable life in the city to live in a place... where there are no amenities, no electricity, no air conditioning, not even a fan, no hot water... to bathe... to eat simple meals?

But... we feel inexplicably comfortable... mentally and physically...

Perhaps it's the mountains, the mist, the sound of rain falling on the roof, the smell of the earth, the green rice fields surrounding us...

And today, we at "Travelers' Choice" would like to take you to a tourist destination where the accommodation may be ordinary, but the view is extraordinary. That place is Ban Pa Bong Piang, a rice terrace in Thailand that is no less beautiful than anywhere else. Located in Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province, this place offers stunning views of rice fields on high hills and the surrounding mountains. It is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Chiang Mai and a must-visit destination. The rainy season and the end of the rainy season, like now, are the best times to visit and experience the atmosphere of the green and yellow rice fields that cover the entire area. However, photographers also love to visit during the planting season when the sunlight reflects on the water in the rice fields.

This trip is one of the most anticipated journeys, and it's also another trip to Chiang Mai, countless times. 555+ Because Chiang Mai has many tourist attractions that I myself don't know when I will stop visiting this province.

Travel
We flew directly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai Airport. We flew after work because we planned to find something delicious to eat late at night. In the end, we had chicken at midnight before going to bed. ZZzz.. Around 9 am, we started from Chiang Mai city to Pa Bong Piang Forest. I used my own car, a pickup truck (my friend lives in Chiang Rai and picked me up, which was very convenient). We headed towards Doi Inthanon and turned left to Mae Pan Waterfall for about 9 km. For those who bring their own car, it is recommended to park at Mae Pan Waterfall. Then, take a 4X4 car up to Pa Bong Piang Forest for about 15-20 minutes.

| Rice Terrace Balcony House | Our little home for the night

The house we stayed in consisted of two adjacent units sharing a common balcony. The left unit accommodated three people, while the right unit accommodated four.

As shown on the far right, there was one bathroom and one shower room.

After looking at the front of the house, let's take a look at the back.^^

And this is our bed, simple living, no air conditioning, no fan, just pure nature.

This is a special meal... the first meal for our team at Pa Bong Piang.

Basil and garlic pork with a beautiful view. Simple food, but the view is extraordinary. 55+

The party has started!

To fit in with the atmosphere, I even changed my clothes. 555+

After finishing lunch and the rain stopped, it was time to take a walk along the rice fields.

After the rain falls, it's time for the sky after the rain.

Yes, I see the narrow earthen path in the middle. That's where we need to walk. It's incredibly small! Haha.

After a day of exploring the rice terraces, it's time for dinner.

Grilled fish, omelet, stir-fried vegetables, boiled vegetables... I'm so full!

Good morning, start your day with a hot cup of coffee.

Last night, I had a good night's sleep and the weather was cool and comfortable all night long.

Waiting for breakfast in bed..

After a while, the American fried rice was served.

Morning mist

Bags packed and ready! Waiting for the Sombutchai bus to pick me up. Honestly, I don't really want to go back yet. 55+

A glimpse of the challenging paths ahead. 55+
