Hello everyone! Today, "Mahami" will take you on a budget-friendly forest trip during the late rainy season - early winter in Sukhothai, the land of history. But we're not going to the Historical Park, we're going to...

“Embrace nature, hug the mountains, and soak in the waterfalls at Khao Luang.”

Our journey began on Friday night around midnight. The distance from our home in Rangsit to Khao Luang is approximately 400 kilometers, which takes about 6-8 hours, including rest stops.

We arrived early in the morning and set up our breakfast before preparing ourselves mentally and physically for the climb.

Preparation:

  • Backpacks + camera bags, weighing approximately 10-13 kilograms each.
  • We each carried two large bottles of water in our backpacks.
  • Food for three meals, which we would cook ourselves on the mountain.
  • This included:
    • Pork bone sausage
    • Pork belly
    • 10 eggs
    • 8 instant noodle packets
    • Various調味料
  • We packed the ingredients in a styrofoam box with ice to keep them cool.
  • We also brought a picnic gas stove.
  • A tent for 3 people.

The total cost of the trip was approximately as follows:

Fuel: 2,000 baht (round trip)

Food for 3 people: 1,500 baht

Miscellaneous: 500 baht (e.g., rental of sleeping mats and bedding on Khao Luang)

Let's start climbing the mountain (9:30 AM)

Along the way up Khao Luang, there are benches to rest on at intervals of about 400-600 meters.

And the path is quite steep, with only uphill climbs and more uphill climbs. It's so tiring, it's really tiring. Oh, I wish there was a flat path. And the resting point near the halfway mark is a viewpoint where you almost don't want to get up once you sit down. . . because you're exhausted. HaHaHa

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! There is something to warn you about! If anyone is going to go, please bring mosquito repellent because the mosquitoes are very aggressive.

When hiking up Khao Luang, if we go up in the morning or early afternoon, it is necessary to stop for lunch on the way to replenish our energy so that we have the strength to continue walking.... Especially since we are carrying our own things like this, we have to stop and rest quite often.

And I must say that this lunch was very, very delicious.... Or maybe it was because we were tired. HAHAHA

Around two in the afternoon, we finally reached the summit. Our hearts were filled with joy as it was time to rest.

We set up our tents and prepared dinner before heading out to enjoy the view at Khao Phra Mae Ya.

The summit of Khao Phra Mae Ya is approximately 980 meters from the campsite. At this point, it's tempting to simply stay put, but since we've come this far, let's push on!

The trail is characterized by a series of ups and downs, and it's extremely slippery, so caution is advised.

We have arrived at Khao Phra Mae Ya. The view is absolutely stunning, the most beautiful I have ever seen.

From here, you can see the small city of Sukhothai. (Very small indeed!) Hehe.

Let's head back to the accommodation and have dinner.

Let's see what I'm having for dinner tonight. Hehe.

Let me tell you, it's not ordinary.

Ta-da!!

Tender, slightly sweet, and slightly salty char siu pork with a hint of soy sauce and mirin, balanced with ginger and Japanese spring onions. Let me tell you, this meal is the best!

And also minced pork omelet ... Who says that living in the forest means you have to eat only forest food ^^

A new day dawns at 4:00 AM, after falling asleep at 6:00 PM the previous evening.

The sky is clear today, revealing a dazzling display of stars. We even witnessed four shooting stars!

At 5 am, we set off for the viewpoint, considered the highlight of Khao Luang.

That is "Khao Narai".

We went there to wait for the sun to return light to this side of the world.

The lights from the villages below.

And when the sun rises from this point, it's like being in heaven.

The next day, we embarked on an exciting adventure as we descended the mountain. Our descent was incredibly swift, and by midday, we had reached the bottom. However, Sukhothai still held a hidden gem in store for us.

"Rainbow Waterfall," situated on the opposite side of Khao Luang National Park in Sukhothai.

In the early afternoon, we arrived at the seemingly ordinary entrance.

As you enter, you will begin to see tourists arriving with their families for a picnic. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting.

But as we walked a little further, ..... Now there are not many people coming in. The real adventure starts here.

Because we started climbing.

This place is very fertile. Animals, insects, and mosquitoes can be seen regularly.

The path ahead grows increasingly treacherous with each passing shot.

The rewards of hard work are always worthwhile. The fatigue vanished instantly.

The waterfall here is stunning and incredibly large.

Our adventure has come to an end. This trip was incredibly tiring, so much so that my friends had to take the next day off work because they couldn't get out of bed.

If you're planning to come, make sure to get in shape beforehand! See you later!
