After work, I usually want to have a drink. My friend invited me to try a new izakaya, so I took the opportunity to review it for you.

Upon arrival, my friend instructed me to park at Thaniya Plaza and walk to the restaurant, which is located slightly diagonally across from Thaniya. The entrance involves navigating through a small, dimly lit alleyway. Despite being a regular in the area, I had never noticed this restaurant before and was surprised to discover its existence.

Aburiya Tai is an izakaya with a cool, raw vibe. The walls are decorated with corrugated iron, and there are posters and vintage toys everywhere. It's a stylish place to enjoy a drink and some food.

Let's order food without delay.

Upon entering the izakaya, we immediately opened the alcohol menu. The establishment offered a wide selection of beers, so we decided to order the purple sweet potato beer (Beni Imo Beer). It was surprisingly sweet and had a distinct sweet potato aroma, which would likely appeal to women. My female companion took a sip and ended up ordering a glass for herself.

Shiokara and takowasabi are two of my favorite dishes. I usually enjoy them with hot rice for breakfast when I travel to Japan. Shiokara is a fermented dish, similar to Japanese fish sauce.

Best served with fresh squid. Delicious!

Ebi no Tarutaru

This is a highly creative menu item from the restaurant, featuring raw shrimp placed atop avocado.

Grilled Karubi beef. A must-try when visiting a yakiniku restaurant. The flavor is delicious, and the grilled beef is perfectly sweet. Thankfully, the restaurant grills it for you, so you don't have to worry about the smell.

AJI NO TATAKI is a Japanese mackerel dish that can be seasoned with Thai flavors for a unique culinary experience.

My friend wanted to try natto, so we ordered some.

Before eating, use chopsticks to stir in a circular motion like this.

And then, stretch out.

Shake off the potato

Grilled stingray fin

The meal concluded with a dessert of imported Japanese green tea cake.

Summary

The menu here focuses on single-dish appetizers, each with a creative twist. Some dishes incorporate Thai flavors, and there is a wide variety of alcoholic beverages available.

Recommended dishes: Takowasabi (octopus in wasabi sauce), Shiokara (fermented squid in Japanese fish sauce... highly recommended!), Settorimoriyaki (grilled seafood set), and Ebinotatratrat (wasabi shrimp on avocado... a unique and creative dish!).

Indeed, there are many things to like here, some of which are not available elsewhere.
