Things to Know Before Visiting Tokyo DisneySea

1. Purchase Tickets in Advance:

To avoid long queues and potential disappointment, purchase your tickets from Thailand before your trip. Waiting to buy them at the park could result in delayed entry until the afternoon. Consider purchasing tickets through H.I.S. counters (not a sponsored recommendation), which allows direct entry with the purchased ticket without requiring a physical card exchange. Additionally, you have the flexibility to decide on the specific date of your visit during your trip. For ticket prices and options, refer to the official website: http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/ticket/

2. Secure FastPasses for Popular Attractions:

To maximize your time and avoid lengthy queues for popular attractions, obtain FastPasses early in the morning. The park opens at 9:00 AM, so aim to arrive before 8:30 AM. FastPasses allow you to return at a designated time and bypass the regular queue, saving you valuable time. Popular attractions with FastPass distribution kiosks often experience long lines, so prioritize securing FastPasses for your desired rides, such as Toy Story Mania, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Tower of Terror.

3. Bring a Water Bottle:

To avoid unnecessary expenses, bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.

4. Avoid Weekends:

If possible, avoid visiting Tokyo DisneySea on Saturdays and Sundays, as these days tend to be significantly more crowded.

We have entered the gates of Tokyo DisneySea!

Let's explore the different zones before we dive into the attractions and must-try food.

There are 7 zones in total, each with its own unique set of rides and must-try snacks. I will explain each zone in detail, starting with **'American Waterfront'**.

—— AMERICAN WATERFRONT ——

A recreation of a 20th-century New York waterfront, complete with a dock, boats of various sizes, vintage shops, and period-specific transportation options like boats, trains, and automobiles.

Notable attractions include the Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania, with the latter being the only one experienced due to a fear of ghosts.

Upon entering the park, we were swept away by the crowds

to ‘Toy Story Mania’. As mentioned earlier,

this ride is the most popular in Tokyo DisneySea.

Without a FAST PASS, the wait time can be 2-3 hours.

We obtained a FAST PASS around 9:35 AM,

which allowed us to return for the ride between 6:25 PM and 7:25 PM.

Needless to say, we were thrilled.

Toy Story Mania: A Thrilling 3D Shooting Adventure

Toy Story Mania is a thrilling 3D shooting game where you wear 3D glasses and hop aboard a small car for two. Each car is equipped with a gun, and as you ride along the track, you'll pass by several large screens. These screens display various Toy Story characters and objects that you can shoot at to earn points.

While reading this description might not fully capture the excitement of the ride, it's an experience best enjoyed firsthand. After playing Toy Story Mania, it's easy to understand why it's one of the most popular attractions at the park!

(Note: This review includes an evening photo to complete the review of this particular zone.)

The snack we bought in this zone is the "Mickey Ice Bar".

It costs 310 yen, and you can actually find it in any zone.

Just look for the ice cream stand, and you'll find it.

Mediterranean Harbor

Upon entering the park, you'll encounter the Mediterranean Harbor. After securing a FAST PASS for Toy Story Mania, we returned to relax in this zone.

The Mediterranean Harbor is a recreation of a Southern European port town, complete with restaurants, souvenir shops, and a spectacular water parade. This parade is a highlight of the area, and luckily for us, it was about to begin as we arrived. We were able to enjoy the entire performance from start to finish.

As it was nearing Halloween, the show featured a cast of villains from various Disney stories, including Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Hades from Hercules, Captain Hook from Peter Pan, and many other iconic characters!

A must-try dessert in this zone is the adorable 'Little Green Man Dumpling' from Mamma Biscotti's Bakery.

Located on the right side upon entering the zone, these dumplings are priced at 360 yen.

Their cuteness and deliciousness make them worth the price. The dumplings are filled with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream.

Additionally, the bakery offers Mickey-shaped bread.

Still in the Mediterranean Harbor zone

We bought two more snacks in this zone:

  • Mickey Tiramisu Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Sea Salt Ice Cream Monaka

Both of these can be found at ice cream stands throughout the park. They cost only 310 yen each. The first one tastes like tiramisu, as the name suggests. The second one is vanilla ice cream with a strawberry jam filling. This one was delicious! We were impressed and highly recommend trying it!

—— MYSTERIOUS ISLAND ——

Next up is the third zone, a secret scientist base for adventures in volcanoes and underwater.

Must-try rides include Journey to The Center of

The Earth and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea,

which we got to ride both! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

The text describes a thrilling experience at an amusement park, specifically focusing on a ride called "Journey to the Center of the Earth." The writer vividly portrays the excitement and anticipation building up as they approach the ride, mentioning a large volcano in the middle of the park and a mysterious machine shooting through its crater. The writer joins the queue for a FAST PASS, eager to experience the ride despite the long wait.

For those who have some experience with amusement parks,

this ride is not scary. It's just the right amount of excitement.

However, it's a bit short. It starts with 6 people sitting in a

capsule, slowly driving into the volcano, passing through mines,

past monsters, and it speeds up more and more.

until it passes through the volcano's crater, the point where we can see the outside world,

which is the most fun part. Then the capsule returns to the station. The end.

The next ride is ‘20,000 Leagues Under The Sea’

No FAST PASS, but the queue wasn't too long, about 30-40 minutes.

We got to sit in a square box that looked like a submarine and journeyed

under the dark sea, which had both beautiful sea creatures and strange events.

It was fun and enjoyable, not scary at all, suitable for all ages.

The zone concludes with two food options.

The first is the ‘Two – Tong Gyoza Sausage Bun’,

available exclusively in this zone at Nautilus Galley.

It's a large, fluffy bun filled with gyoza for 550 yen.

The second is the ‘Churro’ from Refreshment Station.

It's a stick made from seasoned dough and potato.

While available throughout the park, each stand offers different flavors.

The flavor we tried, reminiscent of paprika powder and barbecue, was delicious.

——– MERMAID LAGOON ——–

Mermaid Lagoon is a recreation of the underwater world from

the Little Mermaid. This zone is colorful and perfect for taking photos.

There are 8 attractions in this zone, but most of them

are for young children and require adult supervision. Let's take a look at the atmosphere: )

Teenagers, don't be discouraged. There's still one ride in this zone that you might enjoy, and that's the 'Flounder's Flying Fish Coaster.' This small coaster provides a quick thrill after a roughly 30-minute wait. The mint-green track is adorable, and the cars are shaped like Flounder, Ariel's best friend from The Little Mermaid.

Arabian Coast

Welcome to the Arabian Coast, where you'll be transported to the enchanting world of Arabian Nights. This zone evokes the atmosphere of a bustling Arabian city, complete with markets, shops, palaces, and more. Inspired by the tales of Aladdin and Sindbad, the Arabian Coast offers a captivating experience for all ages.

With three thrilling rides and a captivating theater show, the Arabian Coast has something for everyone. However, be prepared for long lines, as the popularity of this zone is undeniable.

The ride we went on was called "Sindbad's Storybook Voyage."

It was a boat ride that took us through a simulated Arabian city, following the adventures of Sindbad from beginning to end.

The sets, props, lighting, sound, and puppets were all excellent.

It was so spectacular, engaging, and realistic that we sometimes forgot that the characters singing were actually puppets.

Must-Try Food in This Zone

There are two must-try food items in this zone: Curry Popcorn and Chandu Tail.

Curry Popcorn is a popular snack found throughout the park, with each zone offering a unique flavor. The most popular flavor among tourists is the curry flavor found in the Arabian Coast zone. A box of popcorn costs 310 yen, while a refill costs 520 yen.

Chandu Tail is another popular snack in this zone. It is a sweet and savory pastry filled with a variety of ingredients, including chicken, vegetables, and cheese. The Chandu Tail is a great option for a quick and satisfying snack.

The "Chandu Tail" is available at Sultan's Oasis.

It is a bread shaped like the tail of Chandu the tiger, Sindbad's close friend.

The inside is filled with creamy chicken, which is fragrant and rich.

Personally, I think this is the most delicious of all the 9 food items.

This is the best! Price 450 yen. Come and try it!

Lost River Delta

This zone is designed based on the Indiana Jones series, featuring a jungle-like atmosphere with temples, wooden bridges, and two exciting rides: Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull and Raging Spirits.

Both rides are classified as moderate-level coasters. The first is an indoor ride, while the second is an outdoor ride. During our visit, we did not have the opportunity to experience either ride. We later learned that they are quite popular, and it is recommended to obtain FAST PASS early in the morning. We arrived at the zone at 3 pm and were only able to ride at 9 pm, so we decided to skip them for another time.

The text describes a futuristic American port zone in an amusement park, often referred to as "Tomorrowland" due to its strange-looking buildings and vehicles.

The zone features two attractions:

  • Aquatopia: A water-based ride resembling a remote-controlled boat.
  • Nemo and Friends SeaRider: An immersive theater experience exploring the underwater world from the perspective of Nemo and his friends. This attraction is likely more suitable for younger children.

The food item in this zone is called 'Special Ukiwa Bun'.

Normally, it is a steamed bun with shrimp and pork filling, with a white and pink exterior.

The design is inspired by Donald Duck, but the theme park has recently changed

it to purple and black (with the same filling inside) to match Ursula,

the villain from The Little Mermaid. This is also delicious.

It costs 500 yen and can be found at the bakery between this zone

and the American Waterfront zone.
