PHUKET

. . . A charming city that never gets old no matter how many times you visit. . . .

This one-day Phuket trip was a bonus from our planned trip to the Surin Islands and the Moken village during Songkran, so we drove all the way to Phuket for a night's stay.

At first, I thought, "Oh no... Songkran in Phuket must be crowded," but I was wrong. There were few people, and some shops were even closed for Songkran to go on vacation elsewhere. But it was good that there were few people, so it was easy to drive around^^

The program for Phuket 1 day 1 night is not very complicated. I already planned where to go.

But with limited time like this, I decided to skip the boat trip to the islands and the sea.

I just want places that are accessible by car. Where are they? Let's see.

Previously, we stayed at The Camp Resort on Koh Tung Nang Dam, Kura Buri District, Phang Nga Province.

And we had a day trip to snorkel at the Surin Islands and the Moken village. Follow this link for the review.

KEEP CALM and STAY HERE . . . Let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep tonight at 'The Camp Resort' on Koh Tung Nang Dam

Upon reaching land, we started the car and continued our journey immediately.

We headed to Phuket for the night, arriving in the Khao Lak area just as the sun was setting.

I secretly stopped by to check out Surf Beach at Memories Beach Bar

Upon entering, it felt like stepping into another world, filled exclusively with foreigners. Could we have been teleported to Long Beach, Miami?

Despite the sun's descent, the surfers continued to revel in their sport.

For those who are not comfortable surfing, find a comfortable seat to enjoy a drink. Sip on a cold beer or a colorful cocktail at Memories Beach Bar. In the late afternoon before dusk, there are happy hours with special drink prices.

If you're interested in learning to surf, lessons are available here.

However, the seal pictured here won't need a surfboard.

It already has its own, albeit a flatter version. >.<"

It's getting dark and I need to continue to Phuket, which is almost 100 kilometers away. However, it might be a bit slow because the road from Khao Lak to Phuket is quite small.

Before entering Phuket, I will stop for a bite to eat at "Black Crab Restaurant".

This restaurant is located on Phetkasem Road, and you can easily find it using Google Maps.

I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Southern Thai food. It's absolutely delicious!

Stir-fried petai with shrimp paste, steamed fish curry, turmeric-fried fish, southern-style sour curry, stir-fried leaves with skewered shrimp

Oh my god, it's so delicious!!!!!!

When you visit the south, you must try southern food. This restaurant is really delicious, confirmed by the sea lion chef who loves southern food.

If you are driving from Phang Nga to Phuket, stop by before entering Phuket. It's definitely delicious. The restaurant closes at 9 pm.

It's finally time to enter Phuket. It's almost 10 pm now.

At first, I was going to walk around the market for a while.

By now, I must have helped them pack up their stalls. So let's go to the accommodation. I'm so tired.

The first night we slept in a tent by the sea at The Camp Resort on Koh Tung Nang Dam.

On the 2nd night, we came down to Phuket, so we wanted to change to a hotel in the city.

So I looked for a stylish hotel in Phuket city with a price of around 1,000 baht.

There are a lot of them... But most of them are hostels where it's difficult to find parking.

I searched and searched and came across . . . Little Nyonya Hotel

LITTLE NYONYA

Little Nyonya: A Boutique Hotel with Stunning Sino-Portuguese Architecture in the Heart of Phuket

Little Nyonya, a charming boutique hotel, boasts stunning Sino-Portuguese architecture in the heart of Phuket. This compact hotel, discovered on Agoda, immediately captivated me with its visuals and price, leading to an instant booking.

Check in now.

"Little Nyonya" is a Malay or Peranakan term meaning "young girl." The name is very cute. ^ ^

Unfortunately, I arrived late at night and didn't get to see the swimming pool lit up.

It looked beautiful in the pictures on Agoda, but I'll take some photos tomorrow morning.

The room rate I booked on Agoda was 1,500 baht for a superior room with breakfast included.

The room is spacious, and the bed is very large.

This is a non-smoking room. Violators will be fined 2,000 baht (more expensive than the room itself, hehe).

Likewise, there is a durian fine during the durian season.

No durians are allowed in the room, please. We may smell good, but others may not.

Therefore, buy a durian and eat it right there.

. . . But we don't mind if you fart or burp in our room. . . . Hmmmmm . . .^^

The moon is beautiful today. Let's open the balcony and look at the moon.

Exhausted from a day of water activities and travel, I'm going to rest now. . . zzzZZZzzz. . .

Waking up early, I opened the balcony and zoomed in to see Khao Rang.

The sun is shining brightly today. Let's take a shower, get dressed, and go have breakfast at the two grandmas' room.

The breakfast here is buffet style. The selection may not be extensive, but it is comprehensive.

This adorable cat takes excellent care of its guests. Last night, it even waited at the parking lot to greet the manatee.

After a satisfying meal, we headed to Little Nyonya for a photoshoot. The beautiful design and numerous photogenic corners made it the perfect spot to capture some memories.

Many couples choose this location for their pre-wedding photoshoot due to its unique architectural style. The buildings are a blend of Sino-Portuguese and Sino-Colonial influences, creating a contemporary feel while retaining the charm of traditional Chinese houses in Phuket.

Living room

The swimming pool is large and inviting. It's a perfect place to cool off and refresh yourself. (I went out earlier and came back to swim. I'll pack my things later.)

Exhilarating. . .

It's time to check out. The deadline is noon, and it's only ten minutes away.

I checked in late last night, so I had to stay until the last minute.

In conclusion, the Little Nyonya Hotel is a charming and well-designed accommodation option in the heart of Phuket Town. With its convenient location, comfortable amenities, and affordable price point, it is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a stylish and comfortable stay. The hotel's unique blend of modern and traditional elements creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal base for exploring the city's rich history and culture. For those seeking a budget-friendly option with a touch of elegance, the Little Nyonya Hotel is highly recommended.

Phuket Old Town: Take a leisurely stroll through the historic streets of Phuket Old Town, admiring the vibrant Sino-Portuguese architecture. The colorful facades and intricate details of these buildings offer a glimpse into the city's rich cultural heritage.

Visiting Phuket's Old Town: A Must-Do

Coming to Phuket and not visiting the Old Town is a mistake! (But why is it a mistake? Why should it be a mistake? Haha!)

I never thought that visiting Phuket during Songkran would be so convenient. I imagined it would be as crowded as the Old City of Chiang Mai or Khao Lam Road in Khon Kaen. But look! There are few cars, and it's as smooth as Bangkok during a long weekend.

I found out that in Phuket, they only celebrate Songkran for one day, which is April 13th. On the 14th and 15th, some people go out of town, so it's a bit quieter.

It's great to be able to walk around and take photos without any hassle.

At this intersection, it is customary to take a photo with the mural of King Rama IX.

Some of the houses in this row have been renovated, but they still retain their old design. It's quite classic.

For inquiries, please pick up a map.

In addition to tourism information, the second floor also features exhibits on the history and culture of the Chinese community in Phuket.

  • Local cuisine: The text mentions the diverse and delicious local dishes available in Phuket.
  • Vegetarian festival: It highlights the significance of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, a major cultural event.

Here's the translated text in English:

Phuket boasts a vibrant culinary scene with diverse local dishes. The renowned Vegetarian Festival is a significant cultural event. Additionally, the island's rich cultural heritage and traditions are reflected in its unique attire.

For those who wish to dress in traditional Phuket Baba Yaya attire and take stunning photos, the Khun Chinn Phuket Mansion is the perfect location.

This location offers costume rentals and access to photograph within the antique house. The entrance fee may be slightly high, but it's a beautiful spot for commemorative photos or pre-wedding shoots.

Personally, I felt the entrance fee was not worth it due to time constraints. However, I may return in the future if the opportunity arises.

The Old Town, with its distinctive Sino-Portuguese architecture, is a must-see for any visitor to Phuket. The colorful buildings and charming streets offer a glimpse into the island's rich history and culture.

After a tiring and hot walk, let's find a coffee shop and have a cup of coffee together.

There are 4 coffee shops with 4 different coffee characters to choose from.

Which shops are there? We have to go and see . . . O_o

[ 3 ]

Cafe Hopping : Visiting 4 Coffee Shops with 4 Different Styles

We don't have much time in Phuket, so before we came, we made a list of places to go and things to do.

Our barista driver requested that we find a coffee shop with good coffee.

There are 4 shops on the list, all with distinct characters.

Let's start with the first shop . . .

- On the Way - Street cafe Phuket -

Amazing latte art in a glass for only 30 baht!!!

This shop doesn't have a beautiful space to relax like other cafes. Instead, it's a small kiosk in front of a house.

At first glance, it looks more like a place that sells traditional Thai coffee with condensed milk. But that's not the point!!!

****

The main point is that

The latte art skills of Chai Yai Mitchai, a merchant, are extraordinary, with details as if he were a professional barista!

Wow, your work is impressive! It's truly meticulous and detailed.

The owner, P'Keum, revealed a crucial aspect of latte art: 'milk steaming'.

Smooth steaming results in smooth and beautiful latte art, and consistent practice is also essential.

The coffee beans used here are Robusta, which may be a bit strong for hot coffee lovers.

However, due to the shop's location as a small booth in front of a house,

the main customers are local residents in the area,

including staff from nearby schools, who mostly prefer iced coffee.

But looking at the price of this latte art, oh my god!!! . . . 30 baht!!!

The seller asks if the charity sale is still ongoing.

The seller explains that the shop is located in a non-tourist community, so the price is reasonable and allows them to survive without paying rent.

Those who are interested in good and detailed latte art at an affordable price are welcome to visit the shop ...

The shop has recently been renovated with a chic and cool look (picture taken from the shop's page).

It is confirmed that the new shop is more stylish and impressive than before.

Shelter is located on #Debuk Road in the Sino-Portuguese building district.

This cafe's owner is a distinguished champion of the 2016 Aeropress competition.

The Allure of Slow Coffee: A Journey with the Aeropress

This establishment's signature lies in its embrace of the slow bar concept, where the Aeropress reigns supreme as the protagonist in crafting exceptional coffee experiences.

Opting for an Aeropress brew allows you to personalize your coffee journey by selecting your preferred beans. The skilled barista, armed with the Aeropress, then meticulously extracts the essence of these beans, resulting in a delicately aromatic and smooth coffee.

A charming one-room shop with a cozy atmosphere, perfect for studying. The second floor is dedicated to IELTS test preparation.

Love is in the air(o)press

The coffee-averse seal would prefer an iced green tea instead.

Coffee lovers, come and enjoy a cup of coffee while strolling through the Sino-Portuguese district.

Witthaya Brew Specialty Coffee

Don't be fooled by the name "Wittaya," which means "science" in Thai. This charming cafe isn't a place to buy textbooks.

It's actually named after the owner, who clearly values simplicity and directness.

The name is easy to remember and reflects the straightforward approach of the cafe.

When it comes to coffee, Wittaya offers a wide variety of options to satisfy every taste.

From refreshing espressos to meticulously brewed slow coffee, this cafe has it all.

The shop is located outside the city center, in the area of #Rawai Beach.

It's easy to find using Google Maps, as it's right on the main road.

Today, I'm trying their drip coffee.

To experience a variety of coffee, I visited four different shops, each offering a unique blend.

The caffeine content was so high that it kept my eyes wide open, allowing me to drive all the way back from Phuket to Pattaya without feeling tired.

The seeds here come from various sources, including the northern regions of Chiang Mai and Nan.

Before leaving, I bought a bottle from P' Witthaya.

I thought he only sold coffee, but he also sells liquor.

Ugh, no, it's Cold Brew coffee. (P' Witthaya jumped in surprise, the otter tricked me!)

Cold brew coffee from Chiang Mai, 100 baht per bottle.

Drink it while driving, keep the flat bottle to tease the checkpoint. 555

Wow... it's challenging the state's power.

Open it and sip it in the car, the aroma fills the whole car, the taste is good.

If you stop by to sip coffee at Witthaya, grab a bottle or two on your way back!

The shop is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

FB: https://www.facebook.com/WitthayaBrewSpecialtyCoff...

I heard that Witthaya has opened another branch, you can check it out on another FB page.

- Coffee Mania -

This shop is located near Patong, but in a side street that may not be a common thoroughfare. It is directly opposite the Makro Patong branch.

The shop's strength lies in its self-roasted and self-sold coffee beans. It is a long-established shop, arguably one of the first coffee shops in Phuket.

The shop is located in a deep alley.

We had several cups of coffee earlier, from different cafes. I'm feeling a bit jittery now.

We had a Latte, an Aeropress, a Drip, and even took a Cold Drip to go.

This is likely the last stop of the day.

Let's keep it simple and quick with an Espresso Shot.

Roasted coffee beans by myself.

Phuket boasts a plethora of captivating cafes, but time constraints limited our exploration to just four exceptional establishments. These cafes represent four distinct specialties and styles, offering a diverse and memorable experience. We plan to return and discover more hidden gems on our next visit.

Capture the perfect photo with an airplane at Mai Khao Beach.

Before coming here, I saw many pictures of people taking photos of airplanes.

So I set a goal that if I came to Phuket, I would stop by to see it.

This time coming to the airport, Google map confused us a lot.

It seemed like it wouldn't be difficult to find, but Google map took us on a shortcut to get the fastest time.

Encounter the least number of traffic lights, the shortcut is closer, two meters, it takes us there.

So I shouted at it, "Take me out to the main road now!!!"

And it replied, "Sorry Signal lost (-.-") . . . Hmmmmm . . .

Go to the main road, when I arrived, I got lost, going around for no reason before I arrived at Mai Khao Beach.

Simply put, locate Phuket Airport and the route to Mai Khao Beach.

Then enter Soi Mai Khao 6 and continue straight until you reach the beach. Turn left and park under the pine trees.

Walk along the beach towards the airport.

The sun was blazing when the seals arrived. Laundry would dry in less than half an hour if hung out to dry.

But since we were already here, we applied sunscreen with SPF60 pa++++++ and multiplied it because the sun was so strong.

I waited for the plane to arrive. When I arrived, there were only planes landing, and no planes taking off.

At this time of day, the sun is on the sea side, so if you take a picture of the sky, it won't be as blue as it could be.

If you come in the late morning, you'll probably get a bluer sky in the background.

Here they come!

Each shot cost countless skin cells.

Melanin is produced in a rush, it can't keep up. It's so hot!

I stood there for about twenty minutes. It's not just my face, arms, and back that are hot.

Sometimes I have to take off my shoes and jump around because the sand is so hot.

It feels like a Yaowarat chestnut being roasted.

I can't take it anymore. . . . . .

Let's go home. But when I hear the sound of the plane, I go back to my pose. If I wait to take new photos, I won't be able to go home because the planes keep coming.

The screen is dark and I'm tired. I'm going to take a break and lie down. The red dog is now a mangy dog.

We left Mai Khao Beach at almost five in the evening. Before leaving Phuket, we stopped to feed the seals at the famous restaurant, Ta Tuai.

Eating delicious food at the restaurant ' Ta Tuai '

Ta Tuai Restaurant is located at the foot of the Sarasin Bridge on the Phuket side. Just follow Google Maps, the restaurant is easy to find.

This restaurant serves local Phuket cuisine and seafood sourced from local fishermen.

The restaurant is shady and inviting.

Pleasant atmosphere with ample seating. However, during evenings, the restaurant becomes a popular spot for families, leading to potential delays in food service.

Enjoy the view of squirrels and birds while snacking on bananas.

For delicious food with a beautiful presentation, start with this menu item:

Seaweed Salad with Grape Tomatoes

A generous portion of sea grapes, a Thai papaya salad with a sweet and sour dressing.

The sweetness is subtle, and the crunch of the sea grapes is delightful.

The second dish is an authentic Phuket dish.

Moo Hong

Pork belly with a flavor similar to braised pork leg, sprinkled with fried shallots. Delicious, I like it.

The next dish is no less delicious, another Phuket dish, which is

Crab Curry with Rice Noodles

Wow, the crab curry is amazing! It has a generous amount of crab meat and a delicious flavor. It's perfect with soft rice noodles and a side of braised pork. Oh, it's so good!

The last dish

Fried mackerel

This dish is ordinary and not particularly remarkable. It was slightly overcooked, but the dipping sauce was good.

It's edible, so yay!

Overall, I really enjoyed it. If I come to Phuket again, I will definitely come back.

---

The end of a day in Phuket, a seaside city. We had a lot of fun, both on land and at sea.

This is an idea for a rainy day when you can't go out on a boat.

Overall, I was very impressed with my trip to Phuket (again).

Luckily, it didn't rain, the sun was shining, and the sky was clear. Even though we didn't have much time, we packed in a lot of activities from the moment we set foot in Phuket until we crossed the Sarasin Bridge.

We're now driving to Surat Thani city to spend the night. See you next time!
