Phuket Town: A Charming Destination

This blog post details a trip to Phuket Town, Thailand, highlighting its vibrant culture and diverse activities. The author expresses their love for the city and shares their experiences, including visiting the Old Town, exploring coral reefs at Koh Rok, and savoring delicious crab curry at a local restaurant.

The post begins with a captivating video showcasing the beauty of Phuket Town. The author then describes their journey, which included four travelers and a detailed breakdown of expenses.

Highlights of the trip:

  • Day 1: Securing affordable AirAsia flight tickets for a trip from October 27th to 29th.
  • Day 2: Visiting the Old Town, exploring coral reefs at Koh Rok, and enjoying a delicious crab curry at a local restaurant.

The author concludes by expressing their love for Phuket Town and encouraging readers to explore its hidden gems.

After getting the tickets, we looked for accommodation.

2.

For the first night, we stayed in a hotel in the city center to see the lights of the old town.

It was convenient to walk around.

The Rommanee Classic is a beautifully decorated guesthouse.

(There are two Rommanee branches nearby: Classic and Boutique.)

Day 2: The Mangrove Panwa Resort

We booked a stay at The Mangrove Panwa resort for the second night. We used Traveloka and got a discount of 400 baht for both nights.

Day 3: Final Steps

For our diving trip, we decided on Koh Rok - Koh Haa after much deliberation. One of our friends had the opportunity to attend the Thai Travel Fair and they recommended this destination. We booked with Love Andaman.

(However, we booked through Andaman Passion and are still unsure if they are affiliated.)

We got the Koh Rok - Koh Haa trip for 2,399 baht.

We also rented a car for a 7-hour city tour on the last day for 2,300 baht.

And then it was time to travel. Departing from Don Mueang at 4:30 PM.

We arrived in Phuket around 5:45 PM. It was drizzling. We took a shuttle bus to the city center.

After exiting the airport, turn left and the bus will be parked there. It's an orange bus.

The schedule is as follows:

Image

We arrived at the bus terminal, which was the second jackpot. The traffic was terrible because it was the Vegetarian Festival. On top of that, the road around Thao Thep Kasattri roundabout was closed for construction. We finally reached the city center at 8 pm. OMG!!

We were so hungry that we didn't know what to do. After arriving at the bus terminal, we walked to the hotel to check in, which was about 700 meters away.

On the way, we saw a beautiful building and stopped to take a few pictures.

And then we arrived at our accommodation.

After checking in and leaving our luggage, we set out to eat Kobe beef at Khao Tom Haeng, a 500-meter walk from our accommodation.

Jackpot! The restaurant was closed. Tears streamed down our faces. T____T

But I started to feel uneasy. Why were there so many people in white clothes walking around? There were also a lot of cars. As soon as we passed the Kobe Benz restaurant, I knew.

It was the Phuket Vegetarian Festival! It is held at the Jui Tui Shrine every year, and the day we went was the second to last day.

There were so many people! I later learned that the people of Phuket take vegetarianism very seriously.

They even close the island to eat vegetarian food! I was so lucky to have stumbled upon this day. 555

After that, we walked around and bought some vegetarian food to take back to our accommodation.

Day 2

Waking up early for our trip to Koh Rok and Koh Ha, the tour company called to say the van would pick us up at 6:50 AM at The Rommanee Boutique. We got up early and walked to the lobby to wait.

The morning walk was incredibly peaceful, with a beautiful atmosphere.

This is the van that will pick you up.

The Love Andaman boat launch point is located less than 15 minutes from the city center.

They offer tea, coffee, and snacks to enjoy before the trip.

Image

After a short wait, a guide will brief us on how to behave on the boat, in the park, and how to wade in shallow water.

The boat that will pick us up is a large speedboat with a capacity of approximately 40 people.

It takes 1.5 hours to reach Koh Rok (it's a bit far).

I slept on the boat and woke up at 10:30 am when we arrived at Koh Rok. I went to the bathroom and took some photos.

At 11 am, we took a boat to go snorkeling at Koh Rok for about 30 minutes.

The diving spot at Koh Rok has crystal clear water. The guides told us that divers who go scuba diving or deep diving will encounter many strange creatures there. As for us, we'll just go for a shallow dive for now. (The picture of Koh Rok is in the clip above.) After diving, we had lunch on the beach at noon. As for food, Love Andaman is known for its good food and good living.

A wide variety of savory and sweet dishes are available for unlimited consumption.

After lunch, we headed to Koh Haa.

Koh Haa: A Tranquil Paradise for Snorkeling and Turtle Conservation

Koh Haa, a picturesque island, boasts small, secluded beaches that are off-limits to visitors due to the presence of nesting sea turtles. The park authorities prioritize the protection of these endangered creatures and their delicate ecosystem.

The crystal-clear waters surrounding Koh Haa offer an unparalleled snorkeling experience. The vibrant coral reefs teem with diverse marine life, including the elusive bumphead parrotfish. Visitors can immerse themselves in the underwater world for approximately 40 minutes before returning to the mainland by boat, which takes about an hour.

The Journey Continues: A Tranquil Escape at The Mangrove Panwa Resort

After our exhilarating day, the familiar van transported us to our accommodation for the second night. We arrived at The Mangrove Panwa Resort, nestled in the serene embrace of the Panwa district. This tranquil haven offered a welcome respite from the bustling city life.

The resort's secluded location, away from the hustle and bustle, provided the perfect ambiance for those seeking peace and quiet. However, for those who desired a touch of urban excitement, the hotel thoughtfully offered scheduled shuttle services to the city center. Additionally, bicycles were available for rent, allowing guests to explore the nearby convenience stores and shops at their leisure.

The Mangrove Panwa Resort, with its serene atmosphere and thoughtful amenities, proved to be the ideal sanctuary for a rejuvenating escape.

The accommodation offers both villas and deluxe rooms. We stayed in a deluxe room.

For dinner, we were lucky that our friend has relatives in Patong who invited us to a delicious barbecue near our accommodation.

Day 3

The breakfast buffet offered a variety of options, including salads, bacon, eggs, and fruits. While the selection wasn't extensive, the food was tasty.

The hotel also has a rabbit.

We then met our driver from Andaman Passion, whom we had booked for around 11:30 AM.

The car was like this, and the driver, whose name was Ton, was very helpful and informative. He planned our 6-hour trip for us.

Our first stop was the Karon Viewpoint, which offered a clear view of the three bays.

Point 2: Windmill viewpoint. The view here is absolutely stunning, with crystal-clear water. It's truly breathtaking.

Not far away is our signature, Laem Phromthep, which is very hot. (Who let me come at noon) 5555

This section describes a visit to Wat Chalong (Wat Chaiyatharam) after visiting Laem Phromthep. The text mentions that the author did not walk down to the temple but took a picture from the front instead. The author also mentions that they paid respects to Luang Pho Chaem at the temple.

We then headed into town for dinner at the Too Kab Khao restaurant. (It is recommended to call and make a reservation or check for availability beforehand, as it gets very busy.)

Restaurant atmosphere

The food we ordered included braised pork, tamarind prawns, stir-fried morning glory with fresh prawns, and crab omelet.

The signature dish, crab meat stir-fried with Cha-Phu leaves, served with rice noodles, is highly recommended.

The taste is well-balanced, and the curry is very rich.

For dessert, enjoy a date pudding with caramel sauce.

The cake's texture is similar to banana cake, but less sweet. It pairs perfectly with the caramel sauce.

If you're visiting Phuket, don't forget to stop by the Too Ga Khao restaurant.

Near the restaurant, there's street art depicting an old man selling roti. Feel free to take a photo before heading to the restaurant.

We then headed to Thalang Road.

We arrived around 4 pm, and they were setting up shop on the walking street, also known as Lhad Yai.

If you want to buy souvenirs, you can buy them here.

From Soi Rommanee, walk a little to the left and you will see a beautiful picture of King Rama IX.

Phuket's architecture is heavily influenced by the Sino-Portuguese style, resulting in beautiful and unique houses along the streets.

The city is also dotted with art galleries, making it a true center for the arts.

After a short walk, it was already 5 pm, time to head to the airport.

We said goodbye and thanked P'Ton before waiting at Phuket Airport.

For those who have been to Phuket but only to the sea, I recommend coming to experience the beauty of the city.

Phuket has so much charm. For those who have only been to the city, I recommend trying the sea. Phuket is a seaside city, and each island has its own unique beauty and charm.
