The tradition of ascending Doi Phra Chan
Every year, on the 8th waxing moon of the 7th lunar month (the 9th month in the northern calendar), which falls around May, Buddhist devotees from Pa Tan sub-district and neighboring areas make a pilgrimage to the top of Doi Phra Chan to pay homage to the Phra That. The festival features the lighting of rockets to worship the Phra That and a rocket competition. This tradition has been passed down to the present day.
The naga stairs are located in front of the temple.
