- SEALLY.GO.ROUND -

One of the highlights of the Bangkok Designer Week 2018 by TCDC

that will make the old community in the middle of the city, 'Talad Noi', even more charming and intriguing at night.

Seally is a child who grew up in the Bang Rak and Si Phraya area.

#Talad Noi is a nearby community that he often passes by.

- The interesting thing about this area is its ordinariness -

There are hidden gems hidden beneath the old shophouses of the Chinese-Thai people.

Narrow alleys where stray cats run around.

Today, I tried walking around Talad Noi in the dark.

following the light arranged by Lighting Designers Thailand.

There are a total of 10 points according to this map.

Let's start our journey following the map of light at these 10 points (starting from River City)

THE WALL 1 | Wall of Rose

The concept of this rose garden originates from the word "Rosary," which is part of the name of the Calvary Church. This concept inspired the creation of a small walkway behind the church in the shape of a rose.

Origin of the rose light

The red rose projected onto the wall of the Gálvez Church, beautiful and mysterious, with a touch of Da Vinci Code.

The Wall 2 | Edge and Facet/Fin and Canopy

A short walk brings you to the second point.

This design draws inspiration from the window panels of the Krung Siam Tower, an architectural style rarely seen today. These panels act as sunshades for the building, blocking sunlight during the day. Conversely, at night, the light reflected from the panels illuminates the building.

Our art projects require a bit of complex thinking. ^^'

THE WALL 3 | Contrast

This point is a bit too abstract. In simple terms, the concept is about finding peace and quiet amidst the chaos.

The Wall 4 | Light Painting by Jorn Wander

This playful light painting project involved using a flashlight to draw on a wall. The resulting images, created by the artist's hand movements, would fade away after a short time.

One of the drawings captured the artist's own face, specifically their "seal face."

THE WALL 5 | Circulate

Returning to the entrance of the Kalwar Church, we see a small roundabout. This point is also abstract.

The concept suggests that people or vehicles passing through this roundabout only spend a fleeting moment at this point.

However, the light that travels through this roundabout is constant.

Therefore, the light at this roundabout represents the traces of light's existence.

The light that will guide everyone to their destination. Wow, that's profound!

THE WALL 6 | Follow Fellow

Two little cats running around at night, leading the way to the next destination.

The area around Talad Noi is teeming with cats, making it a paradise for cat lovers.

Hidden among the narrow alleys and streets are numerous graffiti murals depicting these feline creatures.

Come and play with the cats hiding in the Wall (come during the day, you probably won't see them at night ^^)

THE WALL 7 | Avoidance

This point has a total of 5 scenes with the concept of "Avoidance"

Avoidance in Thai means to avoid, to not want to face
But in Chinese, avoidance means light

At this 7th point, it will be shown that this light has more dimensions than the meaning in terms of darkness and brightness.

However, the light at each point in this zone will also provide an experience that allows us to see other interesting dimensions.

Woof woof woof!

THE WALL 8 | Shake a Wish

. . . Let the fortune sticks predict your future . . .

This is my favorite spot because it's where the historic riverside shrine, Sala Chao Rong Keuk,

incorporates modern design elements in an intriguing way.

A large fortune stick that does not need to be shaken from the cylinder, but is a fortune stick that uses light to help.

Take a fortune stick by pressing the button on the stand, it feels like playing a game show.

The red light on the stick with numbers 0-9 will randomly go until it stops.

It's like shaking a fortune stick until one stick comes out.

If it stops at the number of which stick, the uncle who takes care of the shrine

But now he has changed to run the queue for people who want to take a fortune stick instead. Will tell the fortune stick number we got.

Entering the shrine, one is greeted by a charming display of fortune-telling slips.

This playful gimmick entices visitors to participate in offerings and contribute to the upkeep of the shrine.

Strategic lighting highlights specific areas within the shrine, creating a captivating visual experience.

Restore the beauty and magic of this ancient Chinese temple.

THE WALL 9 | House by the river

From the shrine, walk to point 9 at " Sow Heng Thai "

A diving school inside a hundred-year-old Chinese junk.

Normally, scuba diving courses are offered.

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an ancient Chinese house, or simply relax and enjoy refreshments while admiring the Chinese architecture.

However, for THE WALL's work, the concept of a Chinese house by the Chao Phraya River reflects the water and the moon.

Full moon

THE WALL 10 | FIAT 600

The dilapidated Fiat wreckage and the rundown buildings are another spot that everyone who visits this area of Din Daeng has to photograph.

This art installation brings a new dimension to the Talad Noi community, offering hidden treasures to discover in its small alleys.
