Recently, I've been indulging in delicious food and exploring nearby destinations. While I haven't embarked on any long journeys, I still find myself restless during my days off. As someone who enjoys venturing out, staying home can feel a bit stifling. Fortunately, I have a resourceful friend who excels at finding hidden gems close to home. After consulting with them, I was invited to try a renowned boat noodle restaurant in Pak Kret. They assured me that the experience would transport me to a provincial setting.
Upon hearing the news, they immediately drove to pick up their younger friend and asked them to lead the way. They instructed the driver to head towards Pak Kret, cross the bridge to Ratchaphruek, stay on the left lane after exiting the bridge, and make a U-turn. After driving for a while, they saw an alley on the left-hand side, which is the same entrance as the Ruean Pruksa 2 Resort. They continued driving down the alley until they reached Soi Baan Ing Nam. The restaurant is located approximately 200 meters from the entrance of the alley.
Upon entering the end of the alley, you will find a bustling restaurant called Baan Suan Ing Nam. Many people are waiting in line. In front of the restaurant, there is a food stall selling cooked food and fruits harvested from the garden. There are also rows of earthenware jars, creating a beautiful and rustic atmosphere. It is surprising to find such an ambiance in Pak Kret.
To dine at the Baan Suan Ing Nam restaurant, it is highly recommended to arrive at least one hour in advance due to the high volume of customers. Most tables require a queueing system to secure a seat on the veranda overlooking the canal, which offers a delightful ambiance. With only around 10 tables available, customers are generally willing to wait in line.
While waiting in line, I strolled into the shop and approached the waterfront. The view was breathtaking, and a gentle breeze blew intermittently. The atmosphere was serene and tranquil. On the canal, merchant boats paddled by, selling their wares. One boat sold golden bananas and sweet potatoes, which I decided to try. The taste was delightful, with a satisfying crunch reminiscent of old-fashioned fried bananas.
The waiting time is about 1 hour. While waiting, you can buy snacks and eat them. The food is delicious and enjoyable. In front of the shop, there is a waiting area with two tables. Customers who want to try the food and are willing to sit in this area will get their turn a little faster. However, if you want to sit by the river, you will have to wait a little longer.
Diners at this riverside table are delighted, as most of them are eagerly waiting. When it was Gin Gaem Tui Talui's turn to travel, they immediately rushed to take a seat.
The dining table has a paper order form with a limited menu. The recommended dishes are boat noodles with spicy soup, chicken curry with rice noodles (green curry), shrimp paste rice, and grilled mackerel with vegetables. Snacks include fried tofu, fried corn, and fried spring rolls. The food is affordable and friendly, so you won't have to worry about breaking the bank.
Enjoying the meal while soaking in the atmosphere, the taste of the food is considered good. Combined with the natural atmosphere and the gathering of local people, it adds charm to this place, attracting customers to come and eat in large numbers. However, if you are in a hurry, you should not come to this restaurant. This restaurant is only suitable for those who have enough time to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the countryside.
For those who are interested in experiencing the riverside atmosphere at the Baan Suan Ing Nam restaurant, where you can enjoy simple, home-style food, and feel like you've traveled to the countryside without having to go far, you can visit them at Soi Baan Ing Nam, Khlong Phra Udom Subdistrict, Pak Kret Municipality.
