How to Travel to Koh Tao from Chumphon: Let's Go! 🏝️

We are enjoying our summer vacation at a beach resort in Hat Sai Ri, Chumphon Province. Hat Sai Ri, or Sai Ri Beach, offers stunning views of nearby islands and a variety of seafood restaurants serving local cuisine and drinks. We are not disappointed with our spontaneous decision to come here. After a couple of relaxing days in Chumphon, we are ready to explore more of southern Thailand. After some online research, we discovered that Koh Tao is just a 2-hour ferry ride away. Koh Tao, Chumphon Province, is known as an island paradise and a memorable destination for everyone who visits. We decided to check out the beauty of Koh Tao for ourselves and booked tickets from Chumphon to Koh Tao.

The following is our travel experience with Lomprayah from Chumphon to Koh Tao:

Go to Lomprayah & Chumphon Pier
1. We arranged for Lomprayah's van service to pick us up at our beachfront resort in Sairee Beach. The van arrived on time and the driver greeted us with a smile.

2. The driver helped us load our luggage into the rear compartment as we boarded the van to prepare for our departure. The seats inside were spacious and clean.

3. The van driver traveled to other resorts to pick up other customers who wanted to use the Lomprayah transfer service. After that, we dropped off at the Lomprayah drop-off point, Chumphon Pier. I went to the ticket counter and presented the voucher, which was my BusOnlineTicket booking confirmation email, to check in and exchange for ferry tickets at the counter.

4. There are many things you can do at the pier. Lom Phraya has a convenience store that sells snacks and drinks, as well as beach essentials like sunglasses and sunscreen. There is also a restaurant selling sandwiches and other cooked food. While waiting for our ferry to Koh Tao, we went to the outdoor area to sunbathe.

5. Upon arrival at Koh Tao, a ferry announcement will be made via the public address system, instructing everyone to queue up in an orderly manner to prepare for boarding the ferry.

6. After the ferry ticket has been collected by the staff, proceed to the pier to board the ferry. Please note that you are required to carry your own luggage; do not leave your luggage unattended in the ferry waiting area! Prior to boarding the ferry, we handed our backpacks to the Lomprayah staff, who will safely store them on the ferry for the duration of the journey.

7. The Lomprayah ferry offers three types of seating. The first option is on the middle deck outside, which has a shelter for passengers. The upper deck is an open-air seating area with no shelter. The lower deck has indoor seating with air conditioning.

Arrival at Koh Tao

8. The Lomprayah ferry travels from Chumphon to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui. The journey from Chumphon to Koh Tao takes approximately 2 hours, followed by 2 hours from Koh Tao to Koh Phangan and 30 minutes from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui.

9. Upon arrival at Koh Tao, an announcement is made, and passengers disembark the ferry. Passengers continuing to Koh Phangan and Koh Samui are requested to remain on board until their respective destinations.

10. Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao offers a seating area for tourists waiting for taxis or tuk-tuks to transport them to their desired destinations.

11. We hailed a taxi and were transported to our resort. Finally, we arrived at Koh Tao!
