"Escape to Khao Kho: A Weekend Getaway in 2 Days and 1 Night"
The popular saying "Sleep on Khao Kho for one night, live one year longer" has become synonymous with the mountain's reputation. Whether it holds truth remains to be seen, but a trip to Khao Kho offers the perfect opportunity to find out. So, pack your bags, hop in the car, and head for the clouds – or rather, to uncover the truth behind the saying.
This trip, we used the services of our trusty steed, Os (since we only have one, what other choice did we have?).
Before embarking on any trip or activity, securing comfortable accommodation is paramount. For this particular excursion, we opted for "Phu Saen Dao Resort".
A small resort nestled amidst mountains and mist, perched at an altitude of 927 meters above sea level. At this height, the atmosphere is guaranteed to be breathtaking.
The accommodation is divided into two zones. The first zone, a popular choice, is called the "Jam Roll Room." Designed to resemble a brightly colored orange jam roll, it features five rooms arranged in a cascading formation along the hillside. Each room boasts a private balcony, offering guests panoramic 180-degree views.
Another zone is a balcony room on the cliff top, with a total of 3 rooms in a row. This zone has a long balcony in front of the room, suitable for families or large families who can book all 3 rooms for a fun time.
The resort's dining area offers complimentary breakfast included in the accommodation fee. Dinner is also available with the assistance of a chef. While the resort has a restaurant, the selection of snacks, beverages, provisions, and personal necessities is limited. It is recommended to bring your own supplies for convenience.
The resort's location on a mountain, at an altitude of over 927 meters above sea level, results in a steep ascent. During the rainy season, it is recommended that sedans and low-clearance vehicles park at the bottom of the hill. The resort provides a secure parking area with staff supervision and shuttle service between the resort and the parking lot. While vehicles can access the resort during other seasons, parking at the bottom is still advisable. Judging by the type of vehicles used by the resort for transportation, our "น้องออส" (presumably a car) would likely struggle with the climb. Therefore, we also opted to park at the bottom.
At this altitude, the serene silence perfectly embodies the phrase "sleeping under the stars at midnight." Unfortunately, due to a malfunctioning camera, I am unable to provide photographic evidence of the stars.
The first light of dawn. Last night, I lay down to watch the stars, and this morning, I had to sit and watch the fog. But!! Where is my fog? The humidity is not high enough for the fluffy fog to show off. But it doesn't matter that the resort doesn't have fog for us to see, we'll go out and look for it ourselves.
Our first destination is Khao Takhian Ngoh.

This remarkable destination boasts 360-degree views, making it an ideal spot to witness the ethereal beauty of both sunrise and sunset. Its unparalleled vantage point has made it a popular camping ground among avid travelers, who seek to immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature's embrace.
This sea of mist is the "Main Viewpoint of Khao Kho".
This is the newest viewpoint in Khao Kho, with the 180 Degree Cafe. A cozy coffee shop with a great atmosphere. Let the picture tell the story.
