After the bears had fought their way through the forest.
This Chiang Mai trip will be divided into different locations.
Let's start with Mon Jong then!!!
Let's get started!
As the year draws to a close, many of us yearn to escape the sweltering heat of the city and embrace the cool embrace of nature. This desire led us to book our flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai early in the year.
Driven by a personal desire, this trip was initiated by my own aspirations. Since I began photography, I have dreamt of capturing images in places I have never been. Among the most coveted shots I have longed to capture at least once in my life are the Milky Way and a sky brimming with stars. This yearning led me to research where, how, and when I could best achieve this goal.
This research suggests that observing stars is best done in high, dark locations with minimal light pollution. Additionally, the visibility of the Milky Way varies throughout the year, leading to the following equation:
High and dark places = Doi (high mountains)
The elephant's time = The end of the elephant year comes early, no need to wake up early to take pictures.
Seeking a cool breeze while traveling = Late year and the North
The outcome was "Go stargazing at a mountain peak in the north during the end of the year," which led to this trip.

Here are our belongings for this trip. Since the highlight of our trip is hiking up a mountain, most of our belongings are backpacks.
Trip #1 (Chiang Mai - Moo Ser Forest Protection Unit)
We rented a car (we booked the car with Avis Car Rental AVIS Thailand, Car Rental Chiang Mai, Avis Rent A Car) because we had to go to other places. The car we rented was a Suzuki Swift. The round trip from Chiang Mai to Mon Chong used about one tank of gas. Driving up the mountain may require extra caution as it is a two-way uphill road, which may have blind corners where oncoming vehicles are not visible.
Preparation
Before ascending the mountain, we must prepare our belongings carefully. While there are facilities for bathing at the top of Mon Chong, they are not very convenient. Essential items to bring include drinking water, tents, sleeping bags, warm clothing, dry food supplies, and provisions for the porters who will help carry our belongings to the top.
Journey #2 (Muzer Forest Guard Unit - Parking Point for Hiking to the Summit)
Tourists are not allowed to drive their own vehicles to the final parking spot. Instead, they must use the 4WD service provided by the unit, which costs 2,500 baht for 1-5 people, 3,000 baht for 6-9 people, and increases with the number of tourists.
Tent and sleeping bag
Tents, sleeping bags, and porters can be rented at the park headquarters.

Walking
From the last parking spot, it takes approximately 3-4 hours of hiking to reach the campsite. The trail consists of a mix of forest, clear paths, and meadows.
The hike was particularly challenging due to heavy rainfall, which turned the trail into a muddy mess. The steep inclines posed a significant risk of slipping and falling, especially for those without proper hiking footwear. Several sections of the trail were also dangerously close to cliffs, increasing the potential for serious injury. (Our group experienced several near-falls, but fortunately, we were able to assist each other.)
Translation:
From the campsite, it takes approximately 45-90 minutes (depending on individual pace) to reach the summit of Doi Huasing, the highest viewpoint on Mon Chong.
This is our food supply. As I mentioned before, we need to try to bring dry goods up to the mountain because we need to reduce the weight burden of carrying them up.
Cost of climbing the mountain
The 4WD vehicle we hired for the mountain ascent.
Due to the continuous rainfall throughout our journey to the mountain, the 4WD route became treacherous. The heavy downpour transformed the usual dirt and gravel path into a muddy quagmire, posing significant safety hazards.

The situation was so bad that they had to put chains on the wheels.
However, we were unable to reach the parking spot as the vehicle could no longer proceed.
We had to continue on foot.
This significantly increased the walking time from 3-4 hours to 5-6 hours.
This is "Jaidee," our porter for this trip.
We can take breaks along the way, but the porters will limit our time. If we are too late, it will be dangerous after dark.
I truly admire my girlfriend's resilience. She is an incredibly patient woman who never complained throughout the entire walk.

"The 'Dog Panting Hill' is a steep incline with a 60-degree angle throughout its entire length. It's so challenging that even humans would struggle, not just dogs."
We were also left with nothing.
Despite all the accumulated fatigue, the view from above was worth it.
Indeed, I understand the true meaning of "หายเหนื่อย".

This is where we will sleep tonight. My brother will help us set up the tent.
Leeches: A Blood-Sucking Hazard When Hiking in the Rain
The presence of leeches poses a potential threat when hiking in rainy conditions. These creatures are known to attach themselves to unsuspecting individuals and draw blood.
To feel a slight sting, the method is to pull it out and roll it into a ball.
Discard it without wiping the blood. No matter how frightening the bleeding may be.
Let it flow until it forms a clot to cover the wound.
Otherwise, our blood will not stop flowing.

The exhaustion of the climb made me realize that eating for sustenance is far more satisfying than indulging in expensive, luxurious meals.
Our delicious sustenance atop the mountain.
Instant noodles!!!
This is the ultimate pride.
Despite the lack of clarity in the elephant's image and the limited number of stars due to heavy cloud cover, the bear was overjoyed.

Morning atmosphere with sea fog
05:30 AM, we woke up to watch the sunrise.
However, due to the unfavorable weather conditions yesterday, with thick clouds all around, we were unable to see much of the sunrise.
However, it allowed us to witness the sea of mist in a unique atmosphere.

I am truly impressed by your remarkable patience and resilience.
A photo of us before we went down the mountain.
For Mon's reservation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my two companions for making this trip an unforgettable experience.
(They are seniors and juniors of the bear in the university itself)

This is the end of my time at Mon Jong, as seen through the eyes of a bear.
Let me tell you...
This trip did not disappoint at all.
Exhausted.
Translation:
"If you ask if I will come again, the answer is definitely yes!"
Coming soon! But not anytime soon!
