The popular phrase "Don't think about him...because you're at the beach with us" perfectly encapsulates the carefree spirit of this trip. It all started with a simple question from someone: "Did you like the tourist spot...do you want to go to the beach?" My response was a resounding "yes," as the approaching summer season had ignited a longing for the seaside. My companion suggested a trip to Hua Hin, and I readily agreed. We then embarked on a fervent search for the perfect time and accommodation.

However, several things did not go according to plan. We were given a task by someone nearby who wanted to stay at Blue Sky... or a similar place. We also emphasized being close to the sea. This time, we were lucky. We were able to book a room at Blue Sky for a reasonable price, even though it was a long weekend. We had to hurry and make the reservation.

Our hotel booking website was unavailable, so we checked Agoda, where the price was the same. However, when we went to pay, there was an additional charge. We didn't think much of it at the time, just wanting to secure a room. But when we checked the resort's website again, we were surprised to see that Agoda was more expensive. We then confirmed with the resort to book a room, as we wanted a room that we could review. The resort has many different room types, but what we received from the resort's page staff was a rejection of our room booking request twice. Even though we said we would confirm the room and also review the resort, we may not be a reviewer with a high number of views, but we just wanted to do our part in sharing our travel experiences in a genuine way. We didn't ask for anything special, but the staff told us that the room we would get would depend on the time we checked in at the resort, which was like walking in. So we asked why we should book through Agoda if we couldn't book the room type, and this time booking through Agoda was more expensive than the resort's website. The staff just refused, and to be honest, at that moment, we wanted to cancel everything because the first impression of the resort's service was not good. No matter how you provide service, you should provide it in a way that you want to help the customer, not by refusing like this. And it seems that the resort doesn't care about its partner Agoda. So what is the resort's business model? We'll wait to see the actual review, because as we said, we will review it as it is.

Before embarking on our journey, we must first fuel our bodies with caffeine.

During the long holiday, the traffic was heavy. No matter which route we took, we avoided Rama 2 Road and exited through Phutthamonthon, Nakhon Pathom, to Ratchaburi, and entered Phetchaburi. But then the GPS brought us back to connect to Samut Sakhon Road. It was not until noon that we reached Phetchaburi. So we had to stop for a bite to eat in Cha-am before heading to Hua Hin.

We opted for our usual haunt, Sangwian Seafood, which we hadn't visited in a while. The entrance was the same, but the restaurant was no longer beachfront. A sign directed us to park our car, and another pointed towards a large, two-story green building that housed the restaurant. We ascended to the second floor, where the atmosphere was pleasantly cool, despite the lack of a sea view.

We were quite hungry, so we ordered a lot of food. However, we forgot to consider the size of the plates. Let's take a look at what we ordered:

  • Seafood salad: The shrimp and squid were very large.
  • Coconut-wrapped seafood: This was also excellent.
  • Spicy stir-fried cockles: The cockles were huge.

I'm going to go eat now!

After finishing our lunch, we set off for Hua Hin. However, we bypassed the city center and followed our GPS to Wat Huay Mongkol. Our aim was to pay respects to the large statue of Luang Pu Thuat for good fortune. We were fortunate that it wasn't raining and the crowds were sparse, allowing us to comfortably offer our prayers. After receiving blessings, we returned to continue our journey, as we needed to check into our accommodation.

Following the GPS to The Blue Sky Resort Hua Hin, the entrance was almost unmarked, but it wasn't difficult to find. Upon arrival, the resort did not impress. As shown in the photos, the resort is small and lacks amenities such as staff to assist with luggage or a welcome drink. It is unclear if our late arrival contributed to this experience.

The staff led me to my room, and I must say, I was even less impressed. The room seemed large, but the layout was awkward. The bathroom was excessively spacious, and most importantly, the bathroom door wouldn't lock. It wasn't a design feature; it was broken. Had the room not been checked at all? When I reported the issue, they said they would send a technician, but it couldn't be fixed anyway. This situation really put the trust of the guests to the test.

We walked around to explore and take pictures of the atmosphere. We walked to the beach. The rooms are not by the sea. We had to walk out to the side, past the restaurant, to find a way down to the beach. Considering the price, it is not suitable for the atmosphere or the term "beachfront resort." Moreover, the resort's restaurant closes at 4 pm. The chill we intended to have by listening to the resort's music or sitting by the beach was gone.

After a short break, the sun had already set without us noticing. We were tired from the journey, so it was time to find something to eat again. This time, we decided to look for something to eat near Cicada.

Cicada Market, also known as the "Talad Jik Jaan," is a popular landmark in Hua Hin, Thailand. It is a bustling marketplace that offers a wide variety of unique and handmade goods. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the market, browsing the stalls and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.

However, as I mentioned earlier, it was a long weekend, so there were a lot of people and it was very difficult to find parking. Once we finally found a spot, we went for a walk around Cicada, which was also very crowded. The food court was especially packed, and it was almost impossible to find an empty table.

After strolling around for a while, we started to feel the heat and hunger pangs. Realizing that there wasn't a place for us in this area, we decided to search for a restaurant that had good reviews, such as "Pa Ruay Poo Pen." We saw that it was located near Cicada, so we immediately started searching for its exact location.

Auntie Rวย's crab restaurant is located opposite Cicada Market. We walked past another food market, but we were determined to eat crab, so we went to Auntie Rวย's instead. When we arrived, the restaurant was crowded, but we managed to find a seat. We ordered our food, but unfortunately, some of the dishes were sold out. The staff explained that they were unable to keep up with the demand. We ended up ordering a whole crab, which we had to shell ourselves. The crab was expensive and not very meaty. We also ordered other dishes, such as seafood tom yum and cockles omelet, which were enough to satisfy our hunger. After our meal, we returned to our accommodation.

Before reaching the accommodation, we stopped by to buy some drinks just in case, because the shop at the resort was already closed. So, we had to find our own way to chill out by sitting and sipping drinks while enjoying the view of the darkness and looking for stars by the sea. It was a different kind of atmosphere, but it felt relaxing. It was like life had broken free from its mold. Try finding time to chill by the sea and you'll know how much happiness it brings.

As the night deepens and the air grows cool, it's time to retreat to our rooms for some well-deserved rest. We'll pick up where we left off tomorrow, but for now, let's savor this moment. A part of me wishes tomorrow wouldn't come, for I'd rather not leave this place.

The morning began with a heavy downpour, preventing us from venturing out for breakfast. Instead, we opted to enjoy a leisurely meal at the resort's restaurant, savoring the cozy ambiance amidst the relentless rain. The fusion-style cuisine proved to be a delightful surprise, offering a welcome respite from the dreary weather.

It was time to say goodbye to the beach, where we had hoped to take another walk in the morning. We had to return, but it was almost 2 pm by the time we left the resort. We still had plans to visit some places along the way, but we would have to see how the weather was. It was a gamble, but the sky cleared and the rain stopped, so we were able to make a stop. Our destination was the Mrigadayavan Palace, located near the Phra Ram 6 Camp. It is the summer palace of King Rama VI and is known as the "Palace of Love and Hope." There is an entrance fee, but on the day we went, it was closed for renovations, and we could only walk around the lower grounds. We decided not to go in, as there would be nothing to see except the landscaped gardens. However, if you come during the regular opening hours, this palace is not to be missed.

We decided to find another place to visit in Phetchaburi on our way back, but the weather didn't cooperate. The rain followed us closely, so we decided to return to Bangkok. The traffic was heavy due to the long weekend and the holiday season. We may not have been able to visit many places this time because of the weather and the crowds. We will probably have to come back to Hua Hin again, as something on the way back made us feel like the trip didn't end very well. But we don't want to think too much about it. We consider it a time to relax, spend time together, and create memories in a slow-life style. This is enough to keep us happy and energized for the days ahead. After all, life is a journey, and no matter where the destination is, what happens along the way always has meaning. And most importantly, if we have someone who is always there to support us, that's all that matters. See you on our next trip!^_^
