Kanchanaburi, the third largest province in Thailand, offers a diverse range of tourist attractions catering to all tastes and lifestyles.

As a weekend traveler, I was eager to explore the city's charm. Despite having only Saturdays and Sundays available, I packed my bags and embarked on a spontaneous adventure.

My "2 Days 1 Night Kanchanaburi Adventure" began with a road trip in my own car. Upon arriving in Kanchanaburi, I paid my respects at the renowned Tiger Cave Temple, a sacred Buddhist site. This temple is famous for its magnificent statue of Luang Pho Chin, a 9-meter-tall Buddha with a 5-meter-wide lap. The statue was constructed in 1973.

The temple also houses the "Phra Chedi Kesukha Kaew Maha Prasat," an eight-sided, orange-colored stupa that stands 69 meters tall and 29 meters wide. It is a magnificent and imposing structure with a total of nine floors. A spiral staircase in the center allows visitors to climb to the top floor, but we didn't make it all the way up. We got tired first. 555555

The atmosphere at the top of the pagoda is excellent, offering a distant view of the Mae Klong River.

The scenery below is equally beautiful. In front, there is the Mae Klong River, and behind, there are mountains and rice fields. However, it is a pity that there are no green rice plants in the fields at the moment. Otherwise, it would be even more enjoyable.

After the spiritual nourishment of visiting Wat Tham Sua, it's time to satisfy your physical hunger. Turn right out of the temple and follow the small road to discover a hidden gem: a noodle shop amidst the rice fields. This is the now-famous "Rak Kan Na" restaurant.

This restaurant has a cool concept: "Ten baht noodles, million baht view."

The special tom yum noodles cost 50 baht, and drinks are free. You can sit and eat your noodles while dangling your feet over the rice paddy, with the Wat Tham Sua temple in the background. It really lives up to its concept. The only pity is that there are no green rice plants in the paddy right now.

(Second pity)

After leaving the noodle shop, we continued to the famous "Mina Cafe". The atmosphere here is similar to the Rak Kan Na cafe, except that there is a hut in the middle of the rice field where you can sit and relax. However, it was a pity for the third time that there were no green rice plants in the field. Alas, you came too late, Aom.

With full bellies, we continued our journey to the landmark of Kanchanaburi province, the "Giant Rain Tree." This massive tree, over 100 years old, has a circumference of 10 people. Before arriving, I thought it would be just another large tree, but upon arrival, I was stunned by its immense size and the beautifully spreading branches that provided shade to the surrounding area.

Another landmark of Kanchanaburi province is the "Bridge over the River Kwai", a bridge with a long history. This bridge was built during World War II by Allied prisoners of war under the control of the Japanese army. It took only one year to build, and the bridge has also been hailed as a "symbol of peace".

After leaving the Bridge over the River Kwai, it was already late afternoon. We drove straight to Sai Yok District. Before checking into our accommodation, we stopped to refuel at a famous restaurant known for its delicious food, affordable prices, and pleasant atmosphere: "Khiri Mantra." This restaurant is surrounded by the lush greenery of trees and mountains. Its concept is "a restaurant nestled amidst nature, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, the ultimate place to relax and dine for families and tourists of all ages." My experience perfectly matched the restaurant's concept. If you want to stroll on the bridge amidst the sprawling lawn that stretches to the edge of the lake, arrive at the restaurant around 4:00 PM onwards. This is when the sun is setting, the breeze is cool, and the weather is pleasant. The outdoor seating area is also open during this time. However, if you don't mind sitting indoors and enjoying the view, the restaurant's indoor area is open from 11:00 AM.

After a satisfying meal at Khao Keri, we headed to our accommodation for the day, "Naka Kiri Resort & Spa." Upon arrival, we were impressed by the unique guest transportation system that delivers guests to their rooms in style.

Let's take a look at the guest rooms. Aom stayed in a Superior room with one king-size bed and one single bed.

The apartment features an outdoor balcony, perfect for enjoying the fresh air and lush greenery views.

Amenities include a hairdryer, drinking water, and tea and coffee.

Let's take a look at the bathroom. The wet and dry areas are separated, and the usable space is just the right size, not too small but not too big. The bathroom is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities.

This hotel offers a swimming pool. The pool is quite large.

After a night of restful sleep accompanied by the soothing sounds of rain, we awoke to this refreshing atmosphere. This is the dining area where we enjoyed our breakfast.

Breakfast offers two options: Asian and American. The Asian breakfast includes rice porridge with pork/chicken, tea/coffee, bread, juice, and fruit. The American breakfast includes a set of American breakfast items, tea/coffee, bread, juice, and fruit. Guests can choose their preferred option.

After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Thong Pha Phum National Park to visit the village in the mist, Ban E-Tong, Pilok Mine.

The ascent is not steep, but there are many curves. The road surface is in good condition, and cars or low-slung vehicles can easily climb it.

Let's take a break from the dizziness caused by the curves of the road at the scenic viewpoint.

The ascent to Pilok Mine.

I have arrived at E-tong, my misty town.

Many homestays are available in E-tong village. However, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during the rainy season. Although the rain was not heavy, it was still considered the low season. Many accommodations were fully booked. Therefore, booking in advance is highly recommended.

During this trip to E-tong village, there were still many things left to explore. Due to time constraints and weather conditions, I will have to postpone my overnight stay and explore the entire village. I will definitely return to E-tong in the future when the weather is better.

Please stay tuned for more reviews from me.
