The first morning in Zurich greeted us with a gloomy sky, a murky atmosphere, and a temperature of only ten degrees Celsius. The intermittent wind that hit our faces and bodies made us feel cold, shivering, and numb, forcing us to constantly tighten our jackets.

This is a period of adjustment for those of us who have come from hot climates, as we prepare to face this type of weather for many days to come.

A First Encounter with Zurich: A Captivating City

This passage describes a first encounter with Zurich, Switzerland, through the eyes of a young visitor. The author is struck by the city's charm, finding beauty in its quiet streets and cool atmosphere. They are captivated by the sights and sounds, finding joy in the simple act of exploring. This initial experience leaves a lasting impression, making the morning in Zurich a memorable one. The author's use of descriptive language and personal reflections conveys a sense of wonder and appreciation for the city's unique character.

Zurich's Enchanting Morning

The photographs capture the serene atmosphere of Zurich during an early morning exploration, while waiting for the car rental company to open. The tranquility of the city stands in stark contrast to its reputation as a bustling business hub. This peaceful scene raises the question: is Zurich truly devoid of charm, or is it simply a matter of experiencing it at the right time?

It is said that traveling by train in Switzerland is very convenient because it can reach everywhere, every village, even places where cars cannot reach. It is also very punctual, clean, and comfortable. Therefore, for our first acquaintance, we chose to rent a car and drive around like our previous trips. We chose to rent a car from a trusted car rental company, Budget Car Rent. It was a Renault Megane Estate, the vehicle we chose for this trip. The size was a bit small for 5 people and 5 bags. The car was ready, the people were ready, it was time for us to go on a trip in our usual style.

Our choice to rent a car was driven by our desire to linger at each location, explore side roads, and deviate from our planned itinerary. While train travel offers the advantage of punctuality and convenient planning, it limits the time we, as leisurely travelers, can spend savoring the scenery and interesting sights along the way. We wanted to experience Switzerland from a different perspective than the typical Swiss Pass user. So, without a predetermined destination, let's embark on our journey together.

Although our tour may seem simple at first glance, when you come to Switzerland, the first day must be a grand opening. Small is not big, let's go. Start the day in a grand way to make the members feel at ease. Let's start here.

Parking area in front of Schloss Laufen castle, Laufen-Uhwiesen district.

The Schloss Luafen castle has an elevator that leads down to a path alongside a waterfall. However, access to the elevator requires a pass. Even after taking the elevator, the door to the path remains locked and can only be opened with a pass.

The interior of the castle is decorated for Christmas.

We did not purchase tickets to enter the castle, so we only walked around the surrounding area. We then drove to park on the other side because we were determined to see something even more magnificent.

Looking into the distance, we see Schloss Laufen, the castle we just departed from.

The Rhine Falls: Europe's Raging Beauty

The Rhine Falls, known as "น้ำตกไรน์" in Thai, is a spectacle of raw power and natural beauty. Located in Switzerland, it holds the title of Europe's largest waterfall, boasting a height of 23 meters and a width exceeding 150 meters. The cascading water creates a mesmerizing frenzy, a constant dance of energy that draws visitors from across the globe.

This untamed spirit is precisely what makes the Rhine Falls so captivating. Its wildness is a siren call to adventure, inviting thrill-seeking tourists to embark on a boat ride to the island at the heart of the falls. There, a Swiss flag proudly stands, offering a unique opportunity to capture a memory amidst the roaring water.

The video embedded below provides a glimpse into the awe-inspiring power of the Rhine Falls:

The young woman and her companions were not overly enthusiastic, as the price of the boat was more exciting. Simply standing and soaking in the atmosphere was enough for them. The water, the trees, the rapids - just standing still and letting everything around them move was enough.

On a day when the sky was overcast, the air was filled with the sound of raindrops and the wind, and the air was chilly. Even though I had only just arrived, a strange feeling of loneliness and longing for my home crept into my thoughts. I don't know when it happened, but it did.
