After a long time away from him, I started to miss him. I wanted to breathe some fresh air and let nature heal me.

So I decided to go on a trip, and that's how this trip came about.

For this trip, we spent 2 days and 1 night. We set off on Friday night and arrived at the **Khao Takhian Ngoh viewpoint** early Saturday morning. The journey took about 5-6 hours. As soon as we opened the car door, we couldn't help but exclaim, "It's so cold!" We were also greeted by a friendly dog.

Although the fog wasn't particularly thick, the atmosphere was so pleasant that it was worth the trip. I wish I could stay here longer. Next time, I'll definitely camp here and enjoy the cool air.

After enjoying the cool breeze and the sea of mist, we set off for our next destination. We took our friends to pay respects at Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew and also stopped for breakfast there.

Following our journey, we arrived at our accommodation for this trip, the **"Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park."**

We booked this accommodation online through the national park's website. It was a single house divided into four rooms. There was a water heater but no fan. At first, we were worried that it would be hot, but it wasn't at all. Even when we closed the curtains to sleep in the middle of the night, we had to huddle under the covers and barely peeked out.

A Cloudy Sunday at the Park: Exploring the Political-Military School and the Stone Button Field

The day dawned bright, but the sky was devoid of sunshine, the air thick with the threat of rain. After checking out of our accommodation, we continued our exploration of the park. This park boasts numerous attractions, but due to our late checkout, we opted to visit only two: the Political-Military School and the Stone Button Field, the park's highlights.

The Political-Military School: A Glimpse into the Past

This site once served as an educational institution following the principles of communism. The school comprised houses for civilians, the commissariat, communications, and a medical facility. These sections, totaling 31 buildings, were small houses arranged in an orderly fashion. Inside each house, rough wooden bunks and desks stood, remnants of daily life scattered about. Some buildings were decaying, abandoned after the mass surrender. Notably, a tractor, seized by the Communist Party of Thailand from the Pighanetra Company and subsequently burned, remained parked in the central area of the school.

The Stone Button Field: A Natural Wonder

The Stone Button Field, aptly named for its unique rock formations, presented a stark contrast to the somber atmosphere of the Political-Military School. These naturally-occurring stone pillars, resembling giant buttons scattered across the landscape, offered a breathtaking spectacle. The field's beauty was further enhanced by the surrounding lush greenery, creating a harmonious blend of nature's artistry.

Despite the limited time, our visit to these two locations provided a glimpse into the park's rich history and natural wonders. The Political-Military School served as a poignant reminder of a turbulent past, while the Stone Button Field showcased the captivating beauty of nature.

If you visit during the right season, you will be greeted by a stunning display of red maple trees, as shown in the picture.

Although we visited during the off-season when the maple leaves had already fallen, the atmosphere remained pleasantly cool and offered stunning photographic opportunities, rivaling the beauty of the peak foliage season.

After taking photos, we continued our journey to the Button Rock Field. On the way, it suddenly started to rain, almost forcing us to change our plans. We decided to take a chance and drive in, hoping that the rain would stop inside. Fortunately, the weather was on our side, and when we arrived at the parking lot, there was no rain, only a cool breeze and fog as before.

At the starting point, there will be local volunteer guides to lead the way and provide information. The cost of the guide is up to you. Our group hired a guide. The round trip distance is about 2 kilometers and takes about 1-2 hours. Fortunately, the weather was not hot at all during our walk, and there was a constant breeze. At some points, there was fog, sometimes thin and sometimes thick. As we walked along, we reached the first landmark, "Pha Chu Thong".

"Flag-waving Cliff"

The Flag-Raising Cliff, located approximately 500 meters from the Stone Button Field, is a peak reaching 1,614 meters in height, making it the third highest peak after Phu Man Khao and Phu Lom Lo. Its steep cliffs offer panoramic views, particularly stunning sunsets that rival other scenic spots. This location was historically significant as the Communist Party of Thailand (CPT) would raise a red flag (hammer and sickle) after each victory against government forces, using it as a means of communication. Additionally, the trail leading to the cliff provides an opportunity to observe various plant species.

After taking a break at the flagpole cliff, we continued our journey. It wasn't long before we reached the highlight of our trip. The sun greeted us, but it didn't feel too hot. Some of us found angles to take photos, while others sat down to rest and recover from the hike.

After a while, we walked back to the starting point. On the way back, the guide took us on a different route than the way we came, which was shorter. It didn't take long to reach the starting point. After walking for a while, our stomachs started to growl, so we stopped for lunch there before continuing our journey. On the way back, we took our friends to Phitsanulok city to pay respects to Phra Buddha Chinnarat before ending our trip.

Last but not least, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of my fellow travelers who joined me on this adventure. For our next trip, we will be exploring a new destination. Stay tuned to "I Love to Travel" for more updates.
