Hello everyone who has come to read this review. This trip, I will take you on a trip to escape the city to Chiang Dao, which is currently in the rainy season. The atmosphere will be green and refreshing. This trip is easy to travel from Bangkok. We travel in a slow life style by train number 52, leaving Bangkok at 4 pm and arriving at Chiang Mai station at around 12.30 pm. On the first night, we stopped to rest in Chiang Mai city before continuing to Chiang Dao the next morning. For this trip, we chose to travel to Chiang Dao by public bus. When it was time to travel, we called a red car from the moat to take us to Chang Phuak Station.
We arrived at Chang Phuak Station around 9:00 AM and got tickets for the 9:30 AM bus to Chiang Mai Tha Ton, Loei. We told the ticket seller that we were going to Chiang Dao. The tickets cost 40 baht each.
The bus looks like this. Buses depart every half hour.
Tickets secured! Choose your seats freely and enjoy the scenery along the way.
The atmosphere on this tour bus is comfortable and not crowded. Don't forget to tell the bus boy to stop at Lotus Chiang Dao, as we need to take a local car from there to our accommodation. The journey from Chiang Mai takes about an hour and a half. The bus boy's voice shouts, "Lotus Chiang Dao!" After getting off the bus, a Lisu woman approached and asked, "Where are you going?" We replied, "To Baan Saimok Homestay. How much does it cost per person?" The Lisu woman replied, "60 baht per person." Okay, where is the car parked? "Just walk and wait for the car in the alley next to the pork leg shop," she said. For those who are hungry, you can stop by for a bite to eat first. There is a famous Yunnan pork leg shop nearby that you can try. However, we did not stop to eat and headed straight to the car.
This car will take us to our accommodation. The winding road is green all the way, which is a bit scary, but the driver goes up and down every day and remembers the curves, so he drives skillfully. If you are driving yourself, it is recommended to be careful. Honk the horn at every corner. The road is relatively narrow but in good condition. I almost forgot to mention that we have to pay an additional 20 baht per person at the park checkpoint.
The journey to the village takes approximately 45 minutes.
How is the atmosphere of the village here? It's pleasant, isn't it?
The car dropped us off right in front of the homestay. How's the atmosphere? The balcony of Baan Sai Morakot Homestay offers a stunning view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. I'm a little jealous of the little dog, who is napping comfortably in the breeze.
After checking in, we walked to our room. I can't remember the name of the room, but it cost 600 baht per person per night, including breakfast. The view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao is amazing. There is no wifi here, and the phone signal is not very good. However, the advantage is that it allows us to fully immerse ourselves in nature. The villagers here use solar power, so the lights are on from 6 pm to morning. There is a charging station at the front desk where you can charge your phone for free.
The view from Doi Luang Chiang Dao in front of our room on the day we arrived. The fog wasn't very thick, but there was still some to enjoy. This was already in the afternoon.
Let's take a walk around the area and enjoy the scenery. There are many accommodations here that we can visit. The famous ones include Baan Rabeang Dao and Baan Lisu. However, in my opinion, the place with the most beautiful view is Baan Saimok Homestay.
This angle is taken from the balcony of the adjacent Lisu house.
This dream trap was photographed at the Baan Rai Berng Dao.
Exhausted from the walk, it's time for dinner. Served right on the balcony, with a view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao.
The homestay provided a simple dinner consisting of stir-fried vegetables, clear soup, omelets, and chili paste. The flavors were rustic and home-cooked, offering a taste of local cuisine.
For those who haven't had enough to eat, there's also a barbecue buffet available for 350 baht per set. As you can see, we ate until we were full. After showering, we went to bed and slept soundly, with the small hope that we would see fog in the morning.
Good morning from Chiang Dao! I woke up feeling refreshed with the beautiful scenery right outside my room. Although the fog isn't as thick today due to the change in wind direction, I still find it stunning.
After enjoying the view for a while, we had breakfast, showered, packed our belongings, and prepared to return home. We had arranged for a local car to pick us up at 8 am, as we needed to continue our journey to Mae Rim.
While waiting for the car to pick us up, we took some photos on the balcony to capture the beautiful memories.
A 2-day, 1-night trip to Chiang Dao is the perfect amount of time to fully enjoy all that it has to offer. If you're looking for a place to stay, check out Baan Saimok Homestay on their Facebook page below.
