The Mae Nam Pachi Wildlife Sanctuary: A Haven for Biodiversity
The Mae Nam Pachi Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled in the heart of Thailand, serves as a vital refuge for a diverse array of flora and fauna. Established in 1994, this protected area encompasses over 1,000 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, encompassing lush rainforests, towering mountains, and meandering rivers.
The sanctuary's rich biodiversity is a testament to its ecological significance. Its dense forests provide habitat for numerous endangered species, including the Asian elephant, banteng, and gibbon. The sanctuary also boasts a remarkable variety of birdlife, with over 300 species recorded within its boundaries.
Beyond its role in species conservation, the Mae Nam Pachi Wildlife Sanctuary plays a crucial role in watershed protection. The sanctuary's pristine forests act as a natural water filter, ensuring the quality and availability of water resources for downstream communities.
The sanctuary also holds immense cultural and spiritual value for local communities. Indigenous groups have long revered the area as a sacred space, and their traditional knowledge and practices contribute to the sanctuary's conservation efforts.
In conclusion, the Mae Nam Pachi Wildlife Sanctuary stands as a testament to the delicate balance between biodiversity conservation, watershed protection, and cultural heritage. Its diverse ecosystems, rich wildlife populations, and cultural significance make it a vital asset for Thailand and the wider region.
The diverse terrain of the Mae Nam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary, characterized by high, complex mountains and varying elevations, has resulted in a rich mosaic of forest types. These forests are categorized into four main types:
Evergreen Forest
The evergreen forest covers a total area of 27,523.8 rai, which is 9% of the total area. It is distributed in the southern and western parts of the area and along the major streams. The forest is found at various elevations, including the areas around the Huai Pu Nam Roi stream, the Huai Tong Kin Chao stream, the Huai Pu Ra Kam stream, and the Huap Khao Chom Nok valley.

The "Planting Seedlings, Expanding Forests, Volunteering Together... Mae Nam Phachi Wildlife Sanctuary" activity has successfully concluded. We then continued our journey back to Bangkok.
The "Volunteer Together" group is composed of friends who have studied and participated in activities together. One day, they realized that public service should not be limited to a small group of friends. They decided to expand opportunities for public service by organizing activities and inviting the general public, both those interested and those not, to learn about their small group's ongoing public service efforts.
Through consistent participation in public benefit activities, such as mangrove planting, mangrove seedling cultivation, dam construction, and many others, you can visit, encourage, discover their identities, or join their activities at Facebook อาสามาด้วยกัน: https://www.facebook.com/asa.kreate/ Give it a try, you might discover something good in yourself.
