Hello again everybody, today we would like to bring you with us to the ancient city in Thailand called "Ayutthaya" and visit 4 beautiful ancient temples (Temple is "Wat" in Thai Language) in our one day trip. If you are ready. Let's start the tour!!

We start the trip with the van that picked us up at the hotel at Kaosarn Road at 7 am. in the morning. It took time about 1.30 hours from Bangkok to Ayutthaya and then we arrived the first temple.

1. Wat Yai Chaimongkhon

Wat Yai Chaimongkhon is the most historic temple and one of the most popular temples in Ayutthaya. This temple has outstanding architecture and the highest pagoda in Ayutthaya.

Phra Chedi Chaimomgkhon

King Naresuan the Great had an order to construct this Chedi as the memorial for his victory over King Maha Uparacha of Burma.

2. Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat or Temple of the Great Relics is located in the center of old Ayutthaya. The history of Wat Mahathat starts in 1374 when King Borommaracha I erected a temple at this place.

The Buddha head in tree roots is the most beautiful and famous picture in this temple. It is expected that the head of the Buddha felled to the base of the tree and the roots are covered up for protection like miracle.

3. Wat Lokayasutharam

Wat Lokayasutharam or Temple of the Reclining Buddha assumed to have been built in the Ayutthaya period of about year 1995 in Buddhist era.

The highlight of this temple is the largest enormous reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya (37 meters long and 8 meter high)

4. Wat Phra Si Sanphet

Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in ancient capital of Ayutthaya until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767.
