Yufuin is a city in the Kyushu region that is super cute and cool in a Japanese style. It is perfect for taking the classic Yufuin no Mori train and enjoying the scenery on both sides, which includes forests, mountains, and waterfalls. The olive green train is really cool. This city has a beautiful walking street. The houses are in a Japanese style, with mountains in the background. There is plenty of food, a beautiful lake with crystal clear water, and the city is famous for its onsen. If you like beautiful nature, delicious food, and great views, I recommend visiting this city.
Getting to Yufuin
From Fukuoka, Yufuin can be reached in just over 2 hours by taking a train from Hakata Station. The recommended train is the Yufuin no Mori, which passes through Yufuin and terminates at Beppu Station. Train Information > Yufuin no mori Map and train timetable Yufuin no mori train timetable
*The schedule may change. Please check the website again for certainty.
- It is recommended that if you come to Fukuoka, you should hurry to book a train at Hakata Station first. Because the Yufuin no mori train is quite famous for being difficult to book, because it is often full. - It is recommended to buy a 3-day or 5-day JR Pass, which will be more cost-effective because it is already worth it just for the round trip, not including if you want to travel further. The price for 3 days is 8500 yen and 5 days is 10,000 yen (*** If you do not use the JR pass, the round-trip ticket price will be around 9,000 yen). If you buy a JR, it will be very cost-effective because you can use it to travel to other places. - The trains will all be this olive green color, but the interior may have different decorative details, but you can still feel the classic in every train. - There is a vending machine for snacks and souvenirs / The chairs can be rotated to seat 4 people (if you book the front row and the back row together). Food can be purchased and eaten on the train.
I came here to enjoy the view... but my friend fell fast asleep - -* I'm wide-eyed, but my friend is sleeping soundly...
The view from the side of the road ... The train madman will melt his heart <3
Yufuin Tourist Spot
📌 Yufuin Walking Street
As soon as you walk out of Yufuin Station, the first thing you will see is a pedestrian street that goes all the way down the line (very long). The backdrop will be the mountains. If it rains, you will see fog on the mountains. The atmosphere is very good. There is food, both savory and sweet, all along the way. Most importantly, every shop that tries it tastes good. The more sweets, the more delicious everything is (I won't review it, or I won't finish writing tomorrow, lol). I spent about 30,000 yen on food. How much did you eat? Ask your heart. **Baggage Storage in Yufuin** > If you arrive early and want to find a place to store your luggage before checking into your accommodation, there are three places you can do so. The first is in the station, the second is opposite the station, and the third is in a beautiful building next to the station (you can go in here to rest and take photos (*see photo at the end of the review)).
You can start from the station and walk all the way to the lake ... or you can take a car to the lake and walk back to the station ... The atmosphere near the station may not be as good as it gets, but the further you walk, the more beautiful it gets.
The atmosphere along the way ....
📌 Yufuin Floral Village Flower Village
Walk in as if you have slipped into a fairy tale like in the wizarding world. Inside there will be a pet cafe and various animals walking around. It's so cute : ) Open from about 9.30 -17.30 hrs.
The entrance will be near this point.
Actually there are more than this ... but our friend is not really into animals ... more into food. So we had limited time to just quickly take some photos and that's it 555+
📌 Kinrin Lake
If you come to Yufuin but don't come to Lake Kinrin... it's like you didn't come at all!!! So it's a must. The water is clear and blue, there are mountains in the background, ducks swimming, fish everywhere, and there's even a coffee shop where you can sit and enjoy the view. It's so good for the soul!!!
📌Cafe la Ruche - The cafe with the best view in Yufuin
Located right by the lake, the view is awesome ... If you don't go, you'll miss out big time ... As soon as you enter the restaurant, look for an outdoor seat ... I guarantee that "the view at every level will impress you" I don't know how much it cost... I didn't look. I was too busy looking at the view. 555+ If I remember correctly, the coffee was probably around 600-700 yen...
Guaranteed to be beautiful from any angle ....
Accommodation in Yufuin
There are many to choose from and most of them will have an onsen in the accommodation. There are both public and private baths, but the price may be higher. It is recommended to book in advance to get a good price (On this trip, our friend booked close to the day of the trip, almost ten thousand baht per night. It's too expensive. It is recommended to book in advance: )
- This trip, I won't review every place, but I'll review the place that impressed me the most... the cheapest but the best, with the nicest owner (I didn't actually plan to review the accommodation, but in case anyone wants to go on a budget, with a great view, suitable for backpackers) - I must say that we booked the wrong room. One of them was booked for only 1 person per room. So we went out to find a new place to sleep. We actually dragged our luggage around and asked along the way. We actually found some bad places. Let's skip that. Let's talk about the last place we found, which was impressive.
📌 Pension Yufuin (about 800 meters from Yufuin station)
Pros: The view in front of the accommodation is very good / The owner is very nice / There is a private onsen / There is also a public bath The downside is that the bedroom is small + the bathroom is shared (but the bathroom is very clean, so you can overlook the downside).
The view around the accommodation You can walk and take pictures comfortably ... There are mountains and streams in front of the accommodation.
The room is about 10 square meters. There are 2 beds. When you open the door, you will see the beds. The bathroom is about 10 steps away. There are 2 private onsen. You can go with your friends. 1 pool can accommodate 4 people comfortably (unlimited rounds). PS. I apologize for not taking any photos of the room because it was very messy and I didn't plan to write a review at first. But well, it's a good product so I want to share it. We didn't take any photos of the public onsen, but the night view is really good. If you can stand the cold, try it. It's outdoors and you can see the moon.
Front view of the accommodation
The water is very clear, there are both ducks and fish ... very natural.
📌 Yufu Mabushi Shin
A famous restaurant in Yufuin, the restaurant that is said that "If you don't eat ... it's like you didn't come to Yufuin" Come on ... if you hear this, you have to try it !!! The shop is near JR Yufuin Station. Walk straight for about 300 meters. The shop will be a small staircase on the 2nd floor.
The main menu of the restaurant is ***Yufuin Mabushi Unagi (Eel Rice) 2,453 yen Jidori Mabushi (Chicken on rice) 2,269 yen The meat and eel should be tried very much! The price is very good compared to the quality
* The picture may not be clear enough. I only have it on my mobile phone ... I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture. T___T 555+ I got this picture from my friend's mobile phone.
and side dishes. This comes with the set. No need to order more. Along with soup in a pot ... When
First in line when the shop opened, no one else there... As soon as I finished eating, the queue was down the stairs to the first floor.
Before returning ... if you still have time, you can walk and wait at the building next to the station * This is the point that is another luggage storage point that was mentioned in the beginning.
It is located next to the station. You can see the platform when you look out.
If you have time left... and want to eat a bowl of ramen, walk out of this building, cross the street to the right, and you will find a ramen shop right across the street. The taste is good. The price is around 800 yen (I forgot to look while I was eating, but it's around that price).
The soup is delicious, the pork is tender... I'd say it's a pass (the taste is almost as good as Ichirian)
